There won't be any alternative forums to work with other than Discord, no. But I do believe there will still be places outside of Discord to gather information, for instance this weeks release notes are here: [RELEASE NOTES] 12.45 Release Notes – Battle Pirates (zendesk.com).
I believe there's lots of kinks to work out, but if you wish to communicate with players like you've done here in the forums you WILL need to use Discord.
Just for knowledge; Discord works on any device with a web browser, it doesn't have to be just on your computer.
And Discord now has a full Forum section, structured and organised much like these forums we're in which is why the team has decided to use it exclusively. Check it out by clicking the link in my Signature.
When I am not helping people on forums, and I'm not banned, I run a YouTube channel. I focus on actually helping players in the game. I respond to every comment on there, so it is the best way to find me. If you want more info click the link below.
Discord just seems like a jumbled mess to me. There seems to be one foum topic and all questions are asked and talked about in there. At least here, if a new subject is started, replies are right there to see under the subject. or am I in the wrong place on there?

There is now a new section of Discord dedicated much the same as these Forums where you can start a topic and discuss it below. It's under the category Forums.
You do know the age range of your player base I assume, while many might be happy to use Discord we have some in our alliance that would have no idea how to even open it. A few are in there 70's+ and talking to them since this announcment they are considering stopping the game which would be a shame.
There will be a link to Discord instead of the Forum button and it will be just like creating an account to access the Forums. Discord is really simple, it's just that there are more options so it "seems" confusing.

So I'm guessing the the now Discussion button (after the 15th) will take players to Discord?
And the forums get shut down after that? OR will parts still be available- ie the link to support/tickets etc etc etc
The Forums and Support are on two different websites, we're only losing the Forums from public view, support will all still be there and in fact will be where Kix are posting their update notes etc.
Discord is a adding a lot of strain to our slow systems, this is clear now why the game was unplayable for awhile now. I do not remotely expect either Bil or any coder to understand that. A **** forced move.
going to be a lot more trolling and spamming and going off topic and that's just by the moderators and their friends, who's going to monitor that???
Been there, done that. Yes, there's LOTS of off-topic chat. People waffle on about their BBQs, or going off-roading in their Jeep (that's a Mod too)
Or their food they cook. Or how well they're doing in x event. Woohoo.
@MillionDlrBil Not everyone wants to be on Discord, that's their choice. Migrating the Forum to that platform sounds like a money-saver. Some people might not wish to drain their phone battery by beig constantly connected to Discord, & for sure, I know my own laptop doesn't like loading up Discord, & it's annoying with all the notifications when you're wanting to kick back watching something on Neon or whatever. Additionally, as another pirate mentioned, elder pirates won't be that tech savvy, & again, may not want to even be there.
You might like it. Great. But to have this literally shoved down our throats by Kix is a trash move. Heck, I see Forums only give notifications of people liking/disliking comments made now, not notifications of other people making comments. I guess that should've been a sign.
If people aren't being engaged with information here, but have to migrate elsewhere to be informed on things in the game, on a platform they do not wish to use for whatever reason, ask yourself (& pass up to whoever give a toss) how long with those pirates engage in the game?
I think with Discord if you create mayhem in their chats you get warned or banned unless of course you are in the special handholding group or the trust fund alliances (although I'm probably wrong). Was Discord also a WrongThinker production similar to the Upgrades and the Shipwrecks fiasco? We've seen how well upgrades are so popular with the player base that don't have golden credit cards or bitcoins flying out of their pockets. Shipwrecks is just that--free recycled scrap for resources and especially those that were the free upgraded ones--being they were the only fully upgraded ships that were ever given as a FREE donation while appreciated by some were instantly turned into barge full of zynthium.
I haven't been on Discord yet because the forums have been here and are easier for me to read as I'm not planning to access Discord on my phone or gaming PC either. The idea of it reminds me of a local show with 5 hosts all yelling and screaming to get their viewpoint across but no one is listening at all. You'd think the peeps or creatures who made this decision would have given a bit more of a grace period than 1 week. Like Seriously?? Is the company really owned by Elon Musk and he's just throwing out ideas that make zero sense to the players?? Does the team of drunk or high sailors really thing you'll suddenly win over a large portion of the player base by switching to a newer platform where not everyone may use it or can due to age or lack of up to date computers/lappies?
What are the statistics that Kix might have (unless they are falsifying data which could happen) that shows the actual number of players on Discord? This data needs to be individual accounts and NOT the alts that some people have. Can that information actually be released or is that a secret too? You obviously can't expect every member in the not so top alliances to just suddenly switch over to this new information platform because some peeps in a cubicle think it's a great idea, you know better than sliced bread. How about do something useful and get rid of the Expeditions thing or actually update the rogue crews like we've been asking for YEARS (although if it doesn't make Kix money they won't do it, why actually do something correctly and positive for the players that pay their salaries for new Lambos and those house payments)?
As others have said above I'm not sure this will go over well and could/will cause another player exodus. Can BP actually survive with only the whales and some moderate coiners playing when another 1k players bolt for other platforms or consoles? There have been other supposedly good ideas that have made people leave before. This idea doesn't appear to have been thought out well at the moment.
I signed up to Discord and I cant seem to find where to launch BP. I use this to play BP. Plus going over discord seems like a lot of work. I wont be using Discord either for the time being. Just tell me where to launch BP

I suggest you stay in the top section of discord thats like forums since actually chatting with others in a live chat is not what interest you. BTW, I'm the Mod talking Jeeps and BBQ.

If it "seems" confusing it is confusing I'm one of the older Pirates and I don't like Discord . The last time I tried it I was getting warnings from my Anti-Virus and it drove me crazy I'm guessing my time on BP will be coming to an end Good Luck to All
Another example of Kix giving the players what they think the players want without actually asking them. Discord is a mess (imho). At least here on the forums there was some structure. Why not fix the faults in the game first before you make another move to alienate even more of the player base?
well that just bites another older pirate in the arse.. Like really WTF kix I tried to set up an account but it says my email is already used? This is like submitting tickets when the game screws up we get replies from so "called experts" wright marymary blahh sprinkle some more kixeye dust in everyone's eyes and wonder why your players are leaving, I agree with so many posts above me fix the game essentials before adding more crap to screw it up..
Guess only time will tell. Just be interesting from what people have mentioned, if you have an issue, how is it going to get picked up? If players are talking about BBQ's cars etc etc etc, how would my issue with lag be visible?

There are multiple channels just like there are multiple forums here, and in some of the channels there's a little banter and general conversation. If these things don't suit you then you need not frequent those channels. There are also specific Bug report channels which are monitored by the mods and game team that are highly moderated to prevent player concerns being washed out. Your chances of concerns being seen are actually greater on DIscord than they are here as the game team are on Discord daily, whereas these forums rely on us moderators for the most part.
Discord is quite structured now and there are Forum threads there much the same as the common ones here. You can use it just like these forums where you can make a topic and people comment on it specifically. You can bookmark/follow posts there just like you can here and you can customise your notifications there just like you can here. There's a lot more you "can" do with Discord, but it doesn't mean you have to do it. The information will be there though so I highly recommend trying it out.
If you don't wish to use it that's fine, there will be game information on their Zendesk support website going forward so that way players don't miss out on vital game related info. If you wish to discuss that info though you will need to do so on Discord.

You will still launch BP through Kixeye's website. Discord is a communication platform and doesn't host or launch games, and it is not controlled or owned or maintained by Kixeye. You don't have to go there to keep playing.
Guess only time will tell. Just be interesting from what people have mentioned, if you have an issue, how is it going to get picked up? If players are talking about BBQ's cars etc etc etc, how would my issue with lag be visible?
It's not an issue, anyone who says that is misunderstanding Discord. Even the live chat channels have their own topic areas so it isn't a bunch of multi-conversation vomit from 10 people being thrown in one section. The topics are also moderated so nobody is crapping up the proper areas for something like bug/performance issues with posts about their dog shedding. Not posting this in defense of the move to Discord, just don't people to form an opinion from one guy joining and telling us about his experience in the general/off-topic area when it isn't accurate to the reality of how things go.
I recommend checking out the Forum section of Discord for yourself, you will find it is quite simple to use in your browser, and no more difficult than using the existing forums, just with additional features.
I want to reiterate that we recognise Forums and Discussion rooms are different things, and will continue to be usable independently. You are in no way obligated to engage in the discussion section of Discord if you choose not to, nor are you obligated to install the app to access them.
