Throughout the past few months of playing War Commander again, i have noticed something. The fact that the Survivors faction is kinda useless. Basically none of the survivor units are good except for 'Fighter Company, Forest (Twinblade Hero), Mikey (Disruptor Hero), Rick (Bonesaw Hero) and the Pathfinders". The rest of the Survivor units feel very underpowered and not worth using. Even the new Janissary unit feels weak and outclassed by the Commandent and Hyperion. The Janissary be better if it had the cloak ability though, but we'll leave that topic for another time. Now, the reason why these units feel underwhelming is because you guys at Kixeye are trying to make units so that they aren't overpowered from the War Lust faction ability. Thing is though, if you are gonna make an ability like War Lust, you should build units that can work with it completely, instead of making weak units that can't do much of anything. The last time the Survivors faction was relatively strong, was around the time where the original Technicals were around., along with the Aggressor, and Ace. That was peak Survivor faction with solid units. Now compare back then to the current state of WC, Survivors has no real purpose to be used since the current units like Abraham, Solrunner, Wastelander, Doppler are all weak and outclassed by other units. I understand why you guys are designing the Survivor units the way you are right now. It's because of the effect of War Lust. Increasing Survivor units damage to 100% is insane, and it is very easy to use and abuse. Knowing this, this puts a limitation on your creation for upcoming Survivor units.
What if i told you that there is a solution or a way to make Survivors more balanced without limiting your creativity/design. Here's my constructive criticisms and ideas.
1.) Option one is that you guys could cap the War Lust ability down to 50% Damage increase, rather than 100%. The ability would still be strong, but not super insane. I believe that this would keep the faction more aligned/ on par with Corpus and Sentinals, while still keeping the factions core identity, by only applying a small tweak.
2.) Option two is that you guys could just scrap War Lust entirely, and make a new faction ability instead. This is what i could come up with today in regards to a re-worked ability...
"RELENTLESS ASSAULT:" Once Survivor units reach 50% health after receiving damage, they receive a 30% increase of damage and a 30% Movement speed increase.
My idea of this ability, is to still partially keep the damage increase mechanic for the survivor faction, but not have it be super overpowered. In my opinion, and 30% damage increase after reaching 50% health seems pretty fair, and competitive. I added the 30% movement increase to help give slower survivor units a lil pep in their step. Think of it like as a "final assault" or "1 last push" kind of theme for this ability. Afterall, the Survivors fight and seek freedom, with a pinch of revenge.
That's all from me, in regards to what i'd like to see with Survivor units going forward. Obviously, these are suggestions, constructive inputs and ideas, so you guys can do what you like with that. Ahh so u think the drone silo is not part of your base and kixeye should just ignore it ?
