The problem ( guess on my part from reading forum posts on issue ) is that having a bright red colour required a large pallet of colours in HTML. That additional pallet of colours was apparently part of the reason for some of the lag for many people with marginal PC's,. So if Kix revert to the way it was they'll also recreate the lag some players were experiencing ( Oh I know lag hasn't gone away with the change in any case ). So like so many problems a solution isn't necessarily easy to solve.
I have no idea why somedays in Flash I can't see any red colour but fixing Flash issues now is pointless ( 6 weeks to its expiration). Kix have to focus on HTML in order to have any hope of making this game playable for the majority of players.
maybe there is a colour other than red in the current pallet of colours that would be more noticable. Kix maybe could make use of the player testers they have recruited to help.
I believe some of the graphical issues only impacted a subset of pirates, as well, which adds a whole other layer into the mix. Either way, I agree it's a bit subtle. I'll see what we can do.
It's very subtle.
