My best suggestion to destroy the Herald is to use high damaged dedicated anti air units like Technicals with the Rocket tech. On the other hand for base defence, you could also fill Drone Silos with Hornets and have Hunter Missile Turrets linked with Fusion turrets ti conquer the Herald.
If you want to go with few other options. It's also possible to use Hades and Seekers to take down the Herald but these 2 units aren't nearly as effective.
