When a barrage hive is hit, damage done, and then timed out (or fleet killed), sometimes the barrage hive fleet would regenerate. Extensive testing first appeared to show this is a random occurrence. I was able to demonstrate this glitch and record it.

THE LEFT HIVE REGENERATES, THE RIGHT HIVE DOES NOT.

Confirmation is requested. I have watched dozens of people 2-hit by hitting the right hive first, then the left. It was of course harder to get people to agree to hit the left hive first, but a few sacrificed for the greater good.

Special thanks to JimmyJames who was the only player to willingly take the suspected bad hit while i was recording. I will post the video as soon as I figure out how.

Edit for the video (attempting youtube, hope it works fine):

I did watch a few players in other sectors, some random other players failing. After about a dozen hits, this is the only correlation I have seen.

Sorry the video jumps around so much. I was recording two fights at once, JimmyJames was hitting the left hive first, OptimusPrime was hitting the right hive first.

4100 is testing this theory right now en masse. It is holding true so far. Not a lot of people want to confirm they can cause the glitch though, just that hitting the right one is safe.

Just to clarify, "right" and "left" of course means from the perspective of your ships. If that fails, try to imagine a pilot in your ship, it you ask him or her which hive is left or right, the left regenerates, the right does not.

Erm, he posted a video because its **** flat out broken, the only way the barage hives could be any more broken is if they regenerated to full health... dumbass.

He is attacking me on the assumption that kixeye meant for the hives to regenerate. Hence his confusion.

How would posting this give him more dmg?? :s The Hives are not ment to regen, he's took time to figure out a way so ppl would take LESS dmg by making sure there is only one Hive in the second hit!

To be fair the fact that one of them does regenerate was most likely intentional, I cant see how that could be an overlooked error by a dev because both hives are meant to be identical. The incoherent rambling of nashslash makes no sense though, you're pointing out an issue that will make hitting these fleet types easier if they fix it, not harder.

You seriously can't kill it in one go?  LMAO.  You fly to the right, attack it and keep to the right side.  Then do the left side.  It's really NOT that hard and your going to take the same amount of damage doing it your way which wastes 10 mins per hit.  dumb.  Pythons with skirmish work great and you only need three of them with any other cutters added.  at 300k+ points per hit the repair time isn't that bad.

You can't cheat by doing two runs. That has been eliminated and I would complain if it wasn't like that.  Same goes the idiots that leave behind the carrier.  MAN UP!

I do single hits. Nobody here said they couldn't. It was fun to figure out the solution anyway. Still, please don't troll.

I am EXTREMELY interested in how a piece of code caused this as well.

Please stop trolling. Kixeye wants to stop the regenerating, not the other way around.

What's more interesting is the fact that in the video you can see that the fleet shows 50% remaining...so when you go to hit it and the thing is back at 100, obviously that's a glitch. Intended or not, that's a glitch. Great catch and research there @Windblood.

@bayareawebpro, you really are off base here. It's not about "whaa, I can't do this" You saw the same video as all of us. They had decimator and pun/python fleets. OBVIOUSLY they could kill it in one go. They way you make it sound like you know everything means you either work for Kixeye or you should because you sound exactly like them...

Wasted 5mins of my life to watch that dumb you tube.

U should kill the barrage in one go to collect all the max points. Second time pro rated points ain't worth the time and effort!

Yes that happened to me today a few hours ago. Hit a hive on the right almost killed it but didnt quite. It timed out and I hit it again and right hive stayed at same damage level. I killed the right hive but didnt touch the left hive. After it timed out I hit it once more to check and the left huve had completely regenerated while right hive stayed damaged. Hopefully kix will fix this.

well your also assuming the fix is to remove the regen hive instead of making them both regen, and considering kix the latter is the most likely fix.

Erm, I doubt they'll even "fix" it, I never suggested they would. I just think one auto regens intentionally because kixeye thought nobody would notice.

I log into game and check this theory. Kill the left hive in a level 80 barrage hive fleet and wait until battle ends. Hit again and yes the left hive comes back.

    Your conclusion is correct.
