Coiners will always coin, they will just save 25% and that means a loss of income for Kixeye, that why we have so little refitting offers, because during a refitting offer the coiners will refit everything at a discount, while the other players will just have something to refit 25% faster. 

Coiners have already most probably refit those ships that have their xp changed, therefore a free refit will help the non coiners, and will not be a loss of income for Kixeye... that is just my opinion. 

We have to consider that Kixeye has the goal of making profit, is not a charitable organization, therefore when asking for something we should always have in mind the profit implication. Of course you will get 40 likes if you have for a 90% discount refit, but it will never happen. 

 

I understand your concern, but I am sure kixeye has done the math and chose refit discount as the best way to maximize profits.

Plus you cannot generalize the entire player base as wanting to only refit ships that had xp changes. That is too specific and doesn't help all players who wanna refit ships for whatever reasons from cargo fleets to jav refits to fvf fleets.

25% refit reduction:
Coiners: Coin some remaining refits and save 25%, assuming they haven't already coined it already.
Non-Coiners: Refit at a 25% time reduction.
Kixeye: (1) Gain revenue from unplanned coin refits, should offset the 25% reduction. Think of it as a sale that leads to more revenue due to impulse spending. (2) Help non-coining players with gating changes.

Free refit (select ships with xp changes):
Coiners: refit their entire arsenal that fits the criteria and spend 0 coins. (Most likely to have 10x the amount of ships that fit the xp change criteria compared to non-coiners)
Non-coiners: refit the few ships that fit the criteria. If you don't have any ships that fit the criteria, then you're stuck with no discount.
Kixeye: gain 0 profit. Gain goodwill from coiners and non-coiners.

As you state 90% reduction will never happen and i doubt ppl who request it are serious, but a refit discount as it has already happened before (48 hrs) can happen and the new gating rules is a great reason to give us that reduction as it only increases fvf, coin reps and overall satisfaction.

The last refit promotion for fleet bay mass changes only helped a few players with FB 12-13 and does not affect 100% of the players as the gating rule change does.

You have some good points.
There are pro and cons to both. I personally disagree that there is a need to refit fleets because of the new gating rules, in fact I have seen many players mixing different ships to create a fleet of a certain level. I also did not refit any ships to change my fleets levels, however players have different styles and there might be a lot of people that is willing to refit some ships because of the gate changing. The main issue is that manifold fitting have shot up levels and most of those fleets are above level 60, that forces players to refit, not to use a those ships. 6 manifold revs, level 62 are just sitting ducks.
The main issue I have with the refitting is that is announced with very short notice and last very short time. Main is the notice we get, many no coiners have long builds going. They have two options, coin it, or cancel it wasting time (resources is not an issue). If a refit is provided with 2 weeks notice (dom building time) it will be good for everybody since players can plan accordingly. The free refit has no such issue, since it can be done at any time without the need of cancelling or coining something

Lots of good stuff. All I can say is that we need some sort of refit promotion :-)

Lol, open the game and see what you got, lol. 3 hours. 3 freaking hours for refits.

Did I miss something or is this mini bit of help for heavy coiners only?

Don't. I missed it first too. Ajso, it brings more light to the "awesome" refit time.

Usually the deals start at 3 PST so probably won't. And I really don't see a point to a 3 hour only refit time.
