Do any of you visit Youtube regularly? Are there any channels that you strongly recommend? Are there any channels you despise? Do you have any great obscure videos to share? Discuss away!
I strongly recommend Two Steps From Hell, which is the official Youtube channel of the Two Steps From Hell music composers. They have some of the best epic music you'll ever find!
Just look at the Like to Dislike ratios on their videos!
I really liking Mark Brown's Game Makers Toolkit series so far. Definitely worth watching for anyone involved in games design or interested in games development as a whole.
Computerphile and Numberphile both have a huge amount of nicely structured short informative videos about a large range of topics with a highly reputable professor or professional, sometimes even the person that wrote the book on the subject matter!
I'll second Two Steps From Hell's music. I still remember 2012 as the year when almost every other **** advert on ITV (or BBC advertising their own shows) used their music as well as the Olympics. It was impossible to watch British TV for more than a few hours without hearing their music, yet no one I knew had heard of TSFH or even recognised their music. My answer to "What would be your theme song?" is currently and will likely always be Flight Of The Silverbird by TSFH.
I watch TotalBiscuit. Opinions may be divided but he continues to be one of the few reputable critics. As for his involvement in SC2 esports tournaments, it's been an amazing couple of months with his recent tournament format bringing some fresh fun into the scene and in doing so gained a larger audience than most of the majors except for the Blizzcon Global Grand Finals.

Have toy seen Periodic Videos, Objectivity or Sixty Symbols by Brady Haran. Also worth watching.
RealLifeLore is a good one. They talk about our world in a really interesting way. I'd second Blazing's recommendation of Numperhile, also really interesting. Crash Course isn't a bad channel for a quick introduction to a topic. While I'm talking about educational stuff, Veritasium and the various vsauce channels are great, too. I'm definitely with Thane that Game/Film Theory are good as well.
As for general entertainment ones, ERB (Epic Rab Battles) is pretty good, I watch Nerd3 sometimes for one-off gaming videos, and Barshens is great for generally funny short videos.
I used to watch a lot of animation channels, too. There's a lot, so I'll just list the main ones: Terkoiz, Hyun, a lot of other people on Stickpage, Sexual Lobster, Mustache Wax Productions, JaidenAnimations.
Channels I hate: any "reaction" channel where it's just someone sat there nodding the whole time (so like 95% of reaction channels), and any channel that steals content. Or uses clickbait.

I can also recommend anyone from Stickpage who has a YouTube channel as well, their animations are incredible. If anyone remembers my original accounts signature with the stickman beating the ever living hell out of a small armies worth of other stickmen, that animation actually came from a guy on Stickpage.
Ever seen Animator vs. Animation Yard? I think its arguably one of the worlds best animation series of all time with how clever its concept and actual animation itself is. Or what about Eddsworld? Great animation channel, I loved watching Edds videos.

Animator vs Animation was one I thought of immediately after posting. Was considering editing but figure the post was long enough already. Alan Becker is a very talented guy indeed. I recently saw he posted the story behind that video on his channel, it's worth a watch:
I've never seen Eddsworld but I've heard nothing but good things. I think he was considered animation royalty.
A great many years ago I had a crack at animation, but I didn't have the skill or the patience for it. Mad props to those who do; good animators will always get my respect for the work they put in. I almost feel like we should have a thread about animation but I feel it'd die very quickly, lol.
PBS SpaceTime is a Youtube channel that's really hardcore about teaching physics. It's great even though it's brutal on my mind.
In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in the case of poetry, it's the exact opposite! -Paul Dirac

Yeah I remember that video. He was lucky he didn't screwed right over by some folks regarding his animation and people stepped in and stopped him from doing something stupid. Speaking of seeing videos, have you seen the trailer for his next animation? It looks to be really meta lol.
I've never seen Eddsworld but I've heard nothing but good things. I think he was considered animation royalty.
Not sure about being considered something like animation royalty, but I do know Edd had a decent and dedicated YouTube following, of around 800K Subscribers before he passed away. And his animations were really great, and he certainly seemed to have alot of respect in and amongst animation communities I imagine.
Edd is one of the few YouTuber's who Im aware off was fortunate enough to turn his animation career into a true YouTube career without much need for things like Patreon or whatever. In fact, I think I'll make Edd my obscure video recommendation. His videos do actually have a fair number of views, but what the hell. His animations were great. His link to possibly my favourite animation of Edd's, Hammer & Fail - Pt. 1:

Yeah I've got alot of respect for animators as well. I remember once when I was a student in secondary school I actually took an animation enrichment class. Shame I can't draw nor have the patience for it either lol. Most of my "animations" (dare they be called that,) were just animation tweens of things morphing into other things, like circles becoming badly drawn demons or whatever. I too give mad props to the folks who animate, especially for a living. The patience required is intense, so they deserve alot of respect.
The Game and Film Theorist Channels (Same reasons as Wisecrack)
3. I second this. The Game and Film Theories themselves aren't the only great things on the channels. Loads of information in reasonably timed videos.
4. I'm on an I Hate Everything kick right now because I can't get enough of his Search for the Worst series. He actually makes a lot of sense when ranting about what NOT to do when making a movie. But I will say that his asswipe persona is definitely not for everybody.
5. ERB. We already had a thread about these in Off-Topic. Find it now. They just have an insane amount of producion value in these. It's obvious that Peter and Lloyd throw a lot of their Youtube $$$ into polishing the content.
6. BLR. Another channel that produces a lot of quality content that is also enjoyable, just not very often.
This turned out to look a bit like a WatchMojo list. Now I'm remembering that I used to be subbed to WatchMojo... Ew.

I used to watch IHE alot when a friend recommended him to me. Unfortunately I've fallen out of watching most of content. It just seems less funny nowadays to me sadly.

Yeah, ERB's content is top of the line as far as YouTube is concerned. Considering where they started, apparently producing the original series on a $50 budget per episode, they've done very well for themselves.
- Wisecrack - Good channel with both thoughtful and funny content alike
- The Game and Film Theorist Channels (Same reasons as Wisecrack)
- SovietWomble - Generally hilarious if somewhat offensive channel with a dark sense of humour that I can appreciate
I despise:- PewDiePie: An unremarkable idiot with content of literally no appeal whatsoever. Why anyone watches him is beyond me?
- YouTube Drama Channels - Scarce, Keemstar, etc. Content is uninspired and frankly lazy with literally zero effort put in.
- Around 99% of all prank channels/videos. Utter sh*t if I ever saw it.
