Methinks Keston either has alts or groupies.
Taking "squad up" to a whole new level.

I'm going to reverse that bury on lomo's post with my super mega like button.
Interesting. So not just flags by mods are worth more than ordinary players but their likes as well.
I guess it seems so lol

I did my part to balance that out.

Since his post was intentionally buried even though it wasn't breaking any forum rules or wrong at all. I just took out all of those false dislikes.
False dislikes, I had no such involvement, I'm just likable or i probably have fans
Seems a tad haughty of you to immediately assume you have fans or you find yourself to be likable Keston. Just saying.

I agree, that's curious. I've not ever seen any of those folk on these forums before. Don't recognize the names, and the fact they showed up, liked only a couple of posts and went as quickly as they came is a tad strange indeed.

You don't seem that likeable to me, and I don't know many people who have nothing better to do than go around liking all your posts and disliking the posts of people you don't like.

Pretty sure he just asked a bunch of his friends and possible some randomly unconnected people to like his posts.
4 of the folks who liked his post are all tied to him as friends on the site, and as friends amongst each other as well.
Have a look here. I shall expose this complicated web of connections lol.

Is there a word for that sort of thing? It always annoyed me. Reminds me of the days when people would win forum contests by cheating and getting their entire alliance to vote for them. I guess some people just feel the need to be validated.

I think the word is rigging. As in, rigging something so the results go your way, kinda like how when the NRA in the US used to rig elections or polls or whatever their called so extra gun control measures wouldn't go through. (Yes, they do that. They bribe politicians in the senate, isn't that disgraceful of them.)

Oh no no no, it's not bribing, it's LOBBYING!!!!!!!!

Basically picture a wealthy business person showering a Senator with money until the Senator is annoyed enough to accept the business person's demands.

I don't think "annoyed" is the right word, lol. Why aren't there limits on those sort of donations? Wouldn't it help take out a level of, if not corruption, favouritism/elitism?

Rigging is definitely the word for that, but could you use it in the context of 'like' gaming, like Keston is doing?

I think "convinced" is the better word. Also as for donations, Im pretty most former presidents might become Senators (Im really no expert on this, so nobody quote me) so they probably take the cash and want to see no limit because otherwise they lose out on money.

Lets face it, if you have cash you can do pretty much anything you want. As was said by the character Jafaar in Disney's Aladdin "The one who has the Gold makes the rules." The principle of that idea applies here or there.

Fair point. If I come up with something I'll be sure to say, there's probably an appropriate synonym or whatever for "rigging" somewhere that would work in this context of discussion.

EDIT: Perhaps manipulation might be a better word. Or perhaps gerrymander(ing.)

People are more likely to post than like or dislike, which blows that out of the water.

I agree. The fact that a whole 7 folk literally pitched up out of nowhere, said nothing but liked 1 guys post and then vanished again is absurd.
I mean, I've seen the odd random liker, hell I had one myself once. Some dude called IIIIIllll (or something along those lines, his name was just a bunch of I's and l's) used to like alot of my posts for some reason. but that was one dude. 7? Ridiculous and suspicious.

    1. You don't get fans in 50 posts.

    2. You don't have 7 friends who never posted or liked in off-topic before pop in just to like your post in the least traveled corner of the forum because they felt like it. It just doesn't happen.

    3. You don't post 3 times in a row unless you feel guilty af.

    4. You don't argue with the Dream Team.

I argue with Thane_Mantis, a prominent member of the Dream Team, all the time.

For example I always like to call Thane "Sir Mantis" because Thane is actually the Scottish equivalent of Duke.
