This is a reason all the mid to lower level players leave this game. The Interdictor is one of the first good ships they get. However they are very limited with limited weight and weapons. Why are they not able to research them to R10, allowing more weight ETC.  Battle Pirates only look after the very high level players.

Many, many moons ago, on an ocean far, far away, the Interdictor was a "good ship"

It was the king of FvF at one time, but those days have long past. Dont waste your time building them.

You are better off building BCs if you're looking for an early game sub detector.

    Just sayin.    B)

They shouldn't really be building Dics if I'm honest, they're more of a low-mid PvP-FvF ship now, definitely hasn't been suitable for PvE in a long while, if at all. A lot of targets are siege targets and heavy hitters at that, the Dic's four hybrid slots and fragility prevent it from doing well.

If they want a better ship, they can either work for it, or else retrofit the BC to R10, it's much better imo. Maybe I'd go with the Dic if the retros gave it higher HP, opened up the underwater only slots and gave it thermal equal to or better than the BC's thermal.

But honestly, if you want a better Dic, go do the campaign for the Vassago's Interdictor. It's faster, turns better, has radioactive and thermal imaging.

Pirates dont let pirates build the interdictor. It's one of the biggest wastes of yard time in the game.

You need to find a good sector or good alliance, they'll help you avoid bad decisions if your up for advice.

That's his base level, not his IQ level. You may be confusing the two.

Either way, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that the game is unbalanced and struggling.

Chances are he (like many of us) is hanging around waiting on the game to get back on the right path.

PS-That may be an alt acct base (like many of us have).

Personally, I think the game is more balanced than it has been in a long time. I'm stopping people from walking my base....I've done ok in raids and if I was still playing on my alt, I think the rebalance and upcoming base parts speed ups would have drove me to actually build a guard in my alt base.

It's not perfect, there are still some more improvements that could be done (fleet build times are still excessive).

I wonder why people bother to stick around if the game has "gone to pot". I was pretty intent on quitting the end of last year, recent changes have kept me around.

The Interdictor was my first prize hull that I got at the initial release when it came out and was an absolute beast for FvF work. I had a build that killed everything from MCX, Stingrays and Spectres. It was even able to take on FM targets. But that was years ago. Now it's slated as my next fleet to retire.

When the Interdictor first came out it was the last word on hunting Barracudas and the common Assault Missile or Cutlass Seawolf. Now? It's a pretty boat in the dock.

Now I have a very hard time recommending the vanilla Interdictor for anyone. I could make an argument for using the R5 Vassago's Interdictor as a specialist sub spotter thanks to the ability to get great sonar range against AI subs, but there is no argument left for the vanilla Interdictor. Surface v. Surface FvF is basically a relic outside of the Arena and there are much better sub killers available. It could still be viable as an FM 40 killer, but the orange and yellow HHs can do the same for a lot less build time and cost.
Prize Hulls owned: HHA, HHB, ScorpA, BBA, Levi A, Triton, Corvette, Destroyer, Destroyer X, Light Cruiser, BC, Battleship, Juggernaut, Interdictor, Mercury, FFA, LCX, Scorp A, Mauler, DreadX, Frigate, Rampart, SCX, Vindicator, Sawfish, Spectre, MCX, SFF

I agree with this. The game now is more balanced than it was 18 months ago. Even the top fleets are dying in top bases where this wasn't always the case.

I quit the game but came back because of some changes and since I came back there have been more changes. If people want to quit because it's gone to pot, then they must be playing a different game to me.

Would rather see the mauler and battleship get R10 before interdictors. Interdictors are ****.
Don't use Level. Use Tech when describing players. Level means nothing, its all about tech.

Interdictors already have an [R10]...it's called Vassago's Interdictor. Some hulls were improved with a better release, others by retrofit. They're still crap hulls, though. [R10] Merc is by far and away a better deal.

To the OP, check out the player guides. There's tons of old stuff which can be built quickly with research and tier 1 tech which will easily get you to tier 2. Mercuries and Barracudas are a good example of this. Both Merc and Mauler can be earned grinding insta-wolves into the campaigns during the raid.
