For those of you who want all of the changes to be implemented now - you surely must understand that you are the problem. It's your entitled attitude of wanting everything the exact moment you want it.
No company that's out there makes all of its changes and implements them all immediately, and guess what - you don't either in your personal life.
Josh, I love ya bud, but remind me again when that big weapons revamp was supposed to happen? Oh yea, we got the first pack and then it seemed to vanish into the mists of the sea, a long, long time ago...
Lots of players are impatient because they have been waiting on promises since 2011. lol

The original goal of VXP was to reward players for playing with their ships, but it has become one of the most important stats in the game. In the short term, we plan to run VXP events more frequently to allow players access to the much-needed veterancy experience. We’re also working on new ideas for VXP including:
Reducing the power gained by new hulls from VXP, while providing them a default reload bonus
Allowing newly built hulls to start at a higher VXP level based on objectives
Altering the bonuses that VXP provides to be per hull
With these changes our goal is to return VXP to being a bonus rather than a necessity.
Among a great deal of very positive sounding ideas, this addressing of VXP is one of the most welcome. Though I notice that some people are reading the first item the wrong way. What is says to me is NOT that old hulls will be nerfed, but that new hullls (it actually says "new") will have a mechanism whereby part of the 75% fire rate bonus will become a static "starting" bonus - what they are calling 'default' - and that earning VXP will still only work up to a maximum of 75%, but presumably more slowly. So by example, if you needed to earn a total of (figure outta my ****) 50K VXP to skull a hull and give it 75% reload. It will START with (guessing) 30% reload, and then you will still need 50K VXP to get to 75%.
This answers one of my biggest gripes with ranking, which was that the rank bonus was too WIDE between people who coin ranked and those who struggled to rank the 'long way'. This gap meant that people with 'freshly minted' fleets were going in at almost half the fire rate for which enemy targets had to be 'optimized'. This fix will make it so that your fire-rate is perhaps only 3/4, and so your repairs and other 'costs' of taking on major enemy targets will be livable. Still a decent gap between the people who pay for the best, and the people with a budget. But a livable gap.
So the answer to lowering build and repair times and reducing chores is to add another chore to reduce build and repair times? How about simply reducing build and repair times across the board? And please don't say it can't be done. It is done with regularity when a new tech did not behave the way you designed it.
If you want to encourage more base hitting, reduce chores. Most don't have time for PVP because of all the chores to do in the game.
Putting player chores in the game to reduce build and repair time was done. You called them tokens. The system did not work. Adding another in game system to do it will not work either. It will simply be one more chore to do.
You are in the minority man. Level 48 who has no problem doing the elite? Sorry, you don't have many peers. Either players who have no problem with it are much higher level, or they are similar level but have a problem doing it.

I don't know which is which, as it relates to me. A little of column A and a little of column B, methinks.
It shows they are trying to improve the game...However, I read nothing that has made me get overly excited about the changes they propose...They are all minor changes in my opinion, and like they said, take 6 months or more to accomplish...They seem so minor, that I doubt they will hardly be noticed as time goes on...Let's face it...Kixeye depends on coining to pay their salaries and bills....I seriously doubt they will make the kind of changes that will effect their bottom line....It's a necessity...
I am happy with most of the post. The thing I'm not happy is the part that isn't plain english. Hope we have a kix rep on Thursdays show to clean it up a bit. Overall it sounds like they're listening to the players and taking steps toward a better game.
I very much believe in "work smarter, not harder".
If this game gets too "dumbed down", it will take the 'smarter not harder' element out for most players who subscribe to that method.
I guess it's fortunate for kix that most players don't care about working smarter, which is why so many people build fleets that take 2 months to build and a full day to repair. If I were that foolish, I would complain about build times too
Now I have my own problems, arrogance is one of them - but arrogance is not effected in any way by build or repair times, which is why I have no problem with kix or the game as it stands today.

it always "sounds" like they are making progress, so utterly frustrated with reading their intentions. Its time to see some results.
I am somewhat scared for the direction you may take the build times, specifically high level builds going into the 30-40 day range per ship. You have indicated that low power builds should see a significant decrease to build times, but there hasn't been a cap from the looks of it. I feel like a lot of it's well meaning, but could be completely screwed up.
I know the difference and I have read what is in the dev's statement it mentioned repair specialists but nothing on retrofits that is why I am asking but I am sure that I will get no response like the last time I tried to ask.
The answer is that there isn't an update on that. Hence the silence.
"Components that are often refit will be given a lower time cost and a Uranium cost."
It is the uranium cost to build, that made me consider quiting this game this month. With the scatter gun and armor having it to build, I knew this wouldn't change. Therefore, by the end of the year, i will be leaving the game. This is not the game i love, nor will it ever be anymore. This game is officially War commander on water, we know how badly WC sucks **** right now.
I'll be honest, what I'm most interested in is the idea of adjusting build times. I have a fleet of three arbalest crusaders that are pretty good. I want a fourth - but I'm afraid to tie up my shipyard for 17 days for one **** boat. I still have V2Hs to build (11 days apiece) and I might want to add another Nuclear Cruiser (11 more days), but first I need to round out my Spectre fleet (5 days). So right now my build queue is...uhm...carry the three...88 days. Plus a few if I get hit and don't notice, or a build ends overnight.
Three months. Once that happens I'll be mostly caught up with where the state of the game was about a year and a half ago. And it does NOTHING to address the fact that I might pick up some new tech in the coming raid, or that i might be able to reach Elite and pick up those blade missile kajiggers everyone's so chuffed about. Refit times for those for my missile fleets add about another 3 weeks to this, putting me over 100 days.
And of course this is in large part on worse tech that for some idiot reason takes longer to build than the good tech (I still don't understand why a Rhino hull takes half the time to build as a Mastodon hull).
I don't necessarily mind the long repair times. That's not my biggest issue. My biggest concern is build time, because these long builds on mediocre tech - the best I've been able to achieve, mind - are what's keeping me from advancing to the next level. It's almost as if the game wants me to stay behind.
Too little Too late I'm afraid. Repair times and build times have been outrageous far too long and still we hear the same thing again, "we're looking into doing these things". Decembers raid will be my last as I'm just tired of honestly throwing money at a completely busted game, still too much new content coming in way too fast while building things is still way too slow to allow us to keep up without spending a small fortune. The game was much more fun when I could actually use older ships to do raids rather than coin the newest ones with newer tech in order to do them now. In order for me to stay I'd need a bigger dock so I can build more hulls for as it stands now I can't build some BPs I have without scrapping ones I still use or ones I've coined (spent real money on). Lower repair and build times were needed January of this year, no puns here for when a fleet costs $3 to repair at half repair time, there is a serious issue (Money doesn't even give you an edge in game unless you have lots of it as well now). Refits are still the biggest joke since the inception of the game. The most important thing though is after December I'll just be logging in to build the last of my hulls for free while hanging out with friends enjoying them both until the game makes the hulls and tech obsolete like usual. Then I can walk away without any regrets as I will have had a little fun with my investment and have time to say my goodbyes.
I'm glad to see that it's FINALLY getting looked into but sorry to say TOO LATE!! If ya wanted a better forum feed back the best thing that could of been done by now would of been the Darn Build time's and Repair time's... If this is not done by the end of this year I'm done with the game and ya can find other's to CON into staying and PAYING to play what's said to be FREE!!! Just saying this has been said to us I have no Clue how many time's now and nothing worth our time in WAITING ether get with it or just say what is going to be done not the O It's been pushed back or no it will be out in two Week's and NOTHING! Most of us have given up on the BP Team just because nothing that is needed to keep us here is being looked at or if it is they'er not doing anything in the best effort's to make the game better to play just more for us to PAY, not a good work effort and mostly not a good play to go for the player's wallet it just make's them find a better cheaper store to get what they want. Time is money and the way I see it the game has already taken to much time to fix the PROBLEM'S. Too bad that's a lot of player's gone for good just because a game could not work thing's out to keep them.
I hope to see something good before the First of January If not then Ya'll Have fun and maybe I'll drop in sometime but if no grate change by Jan I just say they have no CLUE to how to fix there Problem's.. Head held high but tail tucked.
Also tbh the only solution to make VXP not so much of a necessity is to make this VXP weekend monthly (meaning lots of 85s). You reward players for "playing with their ships", and peeps can get rank without spending hours on salvs.
Yes i don t think the team needs to waste time with the vxp once a month 85 s are Great . Just too much coding to change Repair times though We need an across the board reduction not vxp specialists . Much easier to reduce it by a set amount 20% even although 50% would be nicer ,Boy could flat an entire sector for an almost affordable nights fun
We’re continuing to identify and solve cheats and exploits within Battle Pirates. While some of these cases are design related (such as the use of multiple rockets to kill an outpost), many are due to the nature of BP’s code base and may take longer to solve. Creating a fair playing field is critical as it allows us to better tune the experience for all players. We’re committed to identifying and making fixes as efficiently as possible.
Most recently, this includes a remedy to prevent players from using illegitimate ships and illegitimately overpowered ships...........
Thanks for reading and good luck, Captains!
-Battle Pirates Team
maybe, JUST MAYBE, if you would actually ban players permanently that have been reported dozens if not hundreds of time, cheaters and cheating wouldn't be so rampant!
Maybe I'm slow but I've read nothing that seems to be an actual improvement to the game. They talked all around the issues with no real solution. If you want to reduce build time and repair time just do it. The complicated formulas that kixeye has presented won't produce any measurable solution for the average player. How complicated is it just to cut build time or repair time by 30 to 50 percent? (which would be a move in the right direction.) Currently Kixeye's fleets are always faster, more powerful, and out range any weapon players have, how is this fair? Kixeye why don't you level the playing field by using tech and weapons that are available to the players. For example, in events Kixeye shouldn't use fleets, weapons, tech, or armor that has been retro-fitted to a level that is not accessible to the players. IDK maybe its me, but I'm tired of having smoke blown up my ****.
As mentioned, here is a missive from our Lead Designer on the state of Battle Pirates and what direction we want to take moving into 2016.
Good ideas. Good plans. But I'm sure execution as always will turn these good ideas and good plans in to epic fail. Sorry Doom, I don't have much faith in Kixeye. Correction: I don't have faith in Kixeye at all.
Without a face, a single word, the flames of war unify

Capture the gods, advance the troops, fire consumes the towers

Starting at Outpost 6, players will
have the opportunity to complete new in-game objectives provided by
Harlock, Brennus, and Zoey. These new objectives unlock research options
that provide permanent global bonuses. Here’s an example:
Critical Technology: Draconian Shipyard
“The
Dracs seem to have an endless supply of new ships. Raid their bases and
destroy their shipyards. Bring back enough salvage and steal their
tech.” - Brennus
Salvage Draconian Shipyard Shards: 0/10
Research Time: 24 hours
Effect: Shipyard Build Times Reduced by 2%
Most
objectives will come out in December with additional objectives to
follow quarterly. Each permanent effect will stack, helping to stop
escalating costs and reduce costs as hulls and components age.
In one part you are talking about builds are too expensive and another you going to give us 2% back , whoopty doo. So on 30 day per ship build we will save 14.4 hours ? This number should be 20-40% and we should not keep trying to find more shards to research it. Thank god its not 250 shards. In one sentence you are talking about stopping "chores" and another you are talking about more "chores". Looking for shards.
Doomrooster, the article is missing meat, all i see is bones and skin. Kixeye had 2 months and this is all you guys can come up with ? You want to take your time and make changes .. Open your game code. Press Ctrl+F , Search everything that sad Armor cost and add /2(divide by 2) here is your quick solution, save , deploy. it is done.. Do same search on Build time add /2 you are done .. Now you got 6 months to make changes to the game and people wont put your feet to fire.
So we have to collect 10 shards to get a draconian shipyard that reduces build times by 2%. Wow BIG FRIGGING DEAL, 2 %. So a 100 day fleet build takes 98 days. And just what are the odds of getting each shard? Kixeyes standard 0.1% or less?
Beating a dead horse, but it's one thing to say all the right things. Quite another to do them. More than enough examples have been pointed out of Kix clearly identifying a problem, proposing a solution, beginning to implement and then.........flatline.
I think they did a great job of saying all the right things here. Someone has been paying attention somewhere. Now, will they execute? I will change how I spend/play when I see said execution. Not a day sooner.
Purchaseable Repairs............. really........ Kix honestly thinks that is a legitimate solution to make this game healthy again......... They are so blind they don't even see BP is on life support. Soon we will be pulling the plug.

correct me if im wrong but cant you already pay to repair instantly?
bit questions i got are. how hard is it to just lower repair times in general? i mean all this reductions etc. why not just cut repairs by 25% at least then more people will be coining stuff..
