2083 – NASA plans first unmanned probe mission (codename Operation Voyager) to outer space to utilize a new energy source using a compact particle accelerator (CPA). The probe reaches 20% the speed of light before being incinerated- even with the toughest material used.
2102 – Four new hull types are developed for the next test probe, plasteel, tritanium, iridium, and zynthium. Results proved to be exemplary. After several successful tests in a row, the first manned expedition to Mars to utilize more advanced CPA energy proves successful. The selected hull type was zynthium and the crew took off in 2115. The duration of the flight was about two minutes. A mobile ISS station is lanuched to space with a zynthium hull. It is outfitted with a CPA-core bridge, a Ship Lab, and a Tech Lab. 2119 – NASA changes to the V.E.G.A. corporation. V.E.G.A. develops a mining laser, named the Pulse Laser MK. I. These are outfitted with the Voyager probes used in the successful tests. Having near-unlitimed resources due to outer-space mining expeditions, V.E.G.A. eventually takes total control of the government of planet Earth. Its first president was Dr. Van Kruger.
