AAAHHH im so excited. the speed-up tokens and r10 dreads got me stoked, hope the dreads get back up near the top. looks good kix, please make this the best month of progress eva!

I'll have what he's smoking.
We don't usually agree, Doom, but I do agree with what you've said on this thread and I have to give this comment a like just because it had me laughing pretty hard.
About the WIP, any "you", "yourself", or similar being DoomRooster/Kixeye: I have mixed feelings. I like the retros (I have no problem with NC R10, first I doubt it'll get the Cryo Override which really helps Gretas out and second I've always been an advocate of the "instant R6 OR put the time in for R10" model). Personally, I don't use any of the hulls listed, but a lot of my alliance mates just picked up Vindicators. Them going to R10 is fantastic, these guys got Vinnies as their first major hull and it was a solid low-mid level option before. Now with R10 there's a lot of potential here. Dreads, cool, more Ballistics, potential alternate Arbalest platform, etc, etc. Guardians, good. The worst defense hull needs some love. Although I think you'd need to add a mortar range and projectile speed boost to make it a threat, those two combined with D73X could potentially make a monster of a hull.
I also like the idea of skins in the FAT not so much because I'm a fan of skins (though I'll be honest, I do like them, I just think you need to be careful about which hulls get them so as to avoid confusion between, for instance, MCX and MC), but because it suggests the FAT MIGHT be moving away from hulls. I am one of the many that feels the FAT is not the place for hull releases, and would like to point out (for the umpteenth time, I'm sure) you originally said hulls were NOT going in the FAT.
I'm not at all a fan of the way you're implementing these tokens though. For reasons already mentioned by others in this thread, mostly, especially that we were originally told by both yourself and Doug they would be adding to EXISTING chores, not implementing new ones. I understand, Doom, that you're just the messenger and I'm not at all one to shoot the messenger for delivering the message he was instructed to deliver. This gripe is with the team that actually decided to go against what they had you and Doug tell us and create a new campaign. I have high hopes for the system, it has potential, but hte tokens are going to have to be in either large quantities or more than the 15 minutes they were stated as being. For instance, if we could do the campaign and get, say, 20 tokens for the first pack (5 hours), 30 for the second (7.5 hours), 40 for the third (10 hours) and 60 for the fourth (15 hours), I'd be alright with it. Although those numbers still aren't making much of a dent in the builds I currently have going. Be careful with this system - it could be the best thing to happen to BP, or another horrible letdown resulting in more players leaving. It depends entirely on how you all develop it from here on.
I'm starting to understand Magic Bunny's perspective...
Honestly I don't give a flying **** about the skins. I'm POed that they basically made the FAT a 2nd monthly event more or less :P
I share your PO'dness... Also not impressed the Tokens will go live with a Campaign, rather than being added to the already in game "chores" as was advertised.
The thing about Tokens being introduced in a TLC is that this is a brand new feature and we are introducing the reward of them in a way that utilizes a system we already have in the game. As we develop the feature, we'll be able to create new systems of rewarding the tokens. As with all new features we introduce, the first iteration rarely stays the standard. For now, using the resources we have available to us in order to implement a new feature, this is the way we're doing it. Chances are high that this will change as the tokens become more integrated into the game.
There are far better ways to deal with this issue and they dont require testing, tweaking or anything else as they are already in game tried and tested and have been for a long time now
Do not understand why kix have to make everything so **** complicated.
i really don't understand the token idea, but now it's only available through a campaign? i thought they wanted players to come back and have fun, not have to work more to reduce 12 hours off of 20 days. i mean that sounds bad that i don't want to work for improvement, but when a majority of things that can substantially help your gameplay in this game only come through long work that usually will cost you a lot more than what it's worth, why bother? if these build tokens are the way to go, why not put them in FM, or make it to where if you farm enough fleets on the seas and collect the cargo, you can turn that into tokens? why make it something that we all know only a high majority of players can do when the issue of long build times and somewhat repair times burdens a massive playerbase?
Straight up lie. One of the first concerns brought up after the announcement of the upcoming token system. Was that it was going to cause even more chores. DoomRooster emphatically replied absolutely not, we're giving these away as rewards for things your already doing. You should just be straight up ashamed of yourself. And adding more content to the weekly now?! It just defies belief that Kixeye will promise certain things based on a player base that is starting to not play nearly as much, promise the world, and then when things show even a marginal improvement, Kixeye starts wriggling and backsliding back into the old way of doing things. People are trusting for the most part, they like this game, they want to believe when a talented new wordsmith becomes the new community manager and starts to make them believe again. And now this insult. how many times will the players come back based on empty promises? Kixeye seems determined to find out. A
Build & Repair Tokens A new feature enters the game that will help alleviate some of the burden of Repair, Research, Ship building/refitting and Building build/upgrade times. Our first introduction of this new feature will be on April 25th as part of a time-limited campaign that will allow players an opportunity to earn these tokens. I will post a New Feature Briefing as part of the introduction of this new system, so keep an eye out!
Are you saying we are going to have to spend money every time to alleviate the burden of repair for new hulls? why can this not be done for free for your most loyal who coin each event for the hulls and build them early with more coin? im not upto that level yet but its the next stop so its a big concern to me
I think it's a bit ridiculous to have a new limited time campaign to win tokens to repair ships that will be damaged in the campaign regardless if the tokens are for other things as well. Just another layer of damage and repair time before us imo.
Sigh... Yet another let down. Can't say I am surprised though. I had about as much hope for the token system as I do for the VXP repair specialists.
Kixeye, just curious, why are you trying so hard to make something to help the game, so complicated to begin with? I mean, the player base being told that build and more importantly repair times can't just be reduced across the board, because it would change the balance of the game? Tons of players actively attacking each others' fleets and bases on a vast scale, would be an unbalance I guess.
I, for one, and maybe just going out on a limb here, but I think the majority of players would love to see that unbalance...
Unless my memory is playing tricks on me, this may be the first time (or at least one of very very few) that the raid start date was confirmed by Kixeye, officially and in writing, a full two weeks before the event start.
(And no, I don't count unofficial release of the information through non-Kixeye channels, nor do I count anything said on something like "BV live" where you have to sit through the entire video in exchange for an unknown chance of getting valuable information.)
That is a very welcome change for planning - thanks Kixeye.
Add me to the list of the ticked off about the ever increasing pace of adding content to the weeklies where we are not able to choose our prizes. I have never, ever missed tier4 since it was introduced. Yet, I still haven't gotten Bypass CG3 or the Locust - and since I have both Crusader and Warbird prints, I'd really like both of them. Instead, I got MCX this week, which was originally released before I started playing and which I passed over many times because I had/wanted better hulls in the raids. Now I have a print I will never build and my other hulls await content which I probably won't even be able to win in the monthly raid, or if I can, will have to bypass other new prizes due to the 2 prize per tier limit.
I get that you want some variety in the game, but from what I was able to see in the arena, the Locust is a must have print if you have UAV carriers. Making such a print random and possibly unobtainable (due to randomness) even to someone who has never missed Tier4 is just silly, and, dare I say, not good if you wanted to encourage coining.
It was said by Kixeye employees that the tokens would "not be another chore". Seems like it is another chore if it is given to us via limited campaigns. How much is this new chore going to cost? Is everyone going to be able to participate, or is the cost of this new chore going to alienate everyone but the whales? Why is it taking so long to add more hulls to the vxp repair? Not long ago it was said that no more hulls were expected to go to r10 yet here we go again, how much is that going to cost us? Would it be possible to tell us how much money you exptect us to spend a month so we can choose to do so willingly instead of railroaded into it?
you were told something and you shared it. Just to find out your boss changed his mind. Happens all the time, give DOOMROOSTER a break. would you rather he not share what he knows.
Honestly I don't give a flying **** about the skins. I'm POed that they basically made the FAT a 2nd monthly event more or less :P

Doom -
Here's any even easier way with no chore burden and uniformly accessible to all - Reward them for logging in daily! Simple. No burden. Might encourage player engagement in the game. And sends a clear message that maybe not everything in the game is tied to money.
LOL, another lie from the Glitcheye Propaganda Ministry. How utterly surprising. The game has sucked for a long time, but, at least the forums are still entertaining!

woah, a Mod is upset with kix? does this mean they'll listen a bit more???
Retro pack 17 - BIG DEAL - ANOTHER LOST CHANCE - WHEN ARE THE SPECTRES GOING TO GO TO R10 to make them useable again - too slow and need a 3rd specials slot badly and some extra speed to be even close to being able to come close to as useful as the Nighthawk's and Cuda's and being useful for something other than autoing salvages

Nope this means if he gets too vocal he lose his moderating rights. Kixeye dont listen to anyone but the mighy American Dollar.
the tokens shouldn't be in their own selected campaign that is time limited, plain and simple. the way a successful token system would work would be where you can get the longest hours (I.E. 24 hours off, if they'll go that high) by simply redoing a final tier on a campaign, and create like a 2 day cooldown so everyone isn't farming money away from kix with the methods for doing campaigns that they have, because let's be honest, anyone who gets the limited hulls has their method. then make it to where each successive tier in weeklies also give a small token, like tier 1 gives a small 2 hours off, tier 2 maybe 3 hours, tier 3 5 hours, and tier 4 8 hours. then make it like uranium for raids, where after a certain amount of points, you get a token or few. then finally, make it to where with a massive amount of resources, and lets say 10k uranium, a player can actually give up these res (200 mill plus, just because these are pretty valuable) and uranium and get some nice 6 hour repair tokens. then MAYBE when time limited campaigns go up, offer the smaller maybe 4 hour ones as a SIDE PRIZE that is awarded WITH the original prize.
i get that what i am saying basically states "make them abundant" but the purpose of tokens is to fix the massive build and repair issue on turrets and ships. if you make something that is hard to get and only does a little good, it doesn't fix the issue, rather it does what the randomization of weekly does, bring false hope that you can get something good only to be smacked by the discipline stick and told to get back in line.
however, if this TLC is doable multiple times AND is fairly simple for just about everyone (i'm talking my fleets are fighting mauler level hulls and shockwave level tech) then maybe i'll see past this chore and play your game of cat and mouse kix. but dear lord let this be hard, and i'm talking siege campaign level hard or spend about 20 plus coin hard, and you will probably have the worst backlash you could ever see, remember, whales can benefit a lot from this too, and i'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind saving a few dollar or 10 sometimes. and if this goes off without a hitch, you might lose profit for a month or two, but when i tell my friends who quit because of long build times that there are these new things that are easy to get and affect build time pretty well, they'll probably come back, and a few of them will probably start spending again. broaden your markets to make more money, gotta spend some to earn some, two businessing tactics that you can see in just about every successful business, i hope kix can become one.
*none of my times are the real times of the tokens, they were pure estimates, and i do not expect them to be so high/low, and neither should you. nor do i expect these to be the areas where we can get tokens, i'm just going off pure what would work best for majority players in the game.
ok cool dnx and nuc to r10 both hulls i use and need some love, event info would be nice as well as tourney prize, i do find it interesting your making a campaign for tokens rather then twisting it in with fms/chores we already do, but as long as the campaign isnt over powered or dumb im fine with this. the hull skins im not really interested in (for tourney) maybe the feature in general. unless they changed going rogue campaign to make slightly easier might do for not sure. well all in all good wip
Kix trolling for coin and baiting the hook for whatever sucker will bite. You spend coin you get some repair/ build tokins. LMAO NO COIN FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or as the soup Nazi said it...........................https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVqBzP0xdKk
re: tokens. so a new chore, another undoubtedly high damage/over-powered campaign. to save a small amount of build/research time. kixeye would make great politicians. promises, promises and deliver nothing. really disappointed. what happened to 'too many chores, they will be part of existing features'
Here's a friggen Idea, reduce build and repair all together. We all know it isn't hard as you say it is as we all saw when you made the cudas insta repair when the vxp specialists first came out. HMMMM that was fixed right away but proves out point that it isn't all that complicated to just reduce the **** times. I mean really kix get real. Stop blowing smoke up our **** for once and just step up tp the **** plate. So hard code this gotta code that bull crap. You did it quite easily the first day vxp went into effect we all saw it, you buried the thread proving that even you people can easily reduce the repair times. Nothing but a bunch of pixel politicians

Your going to add more uslesd crap and keep other usless crap in weeklys but pull useful things like bukhead and earthshaker

I dont know about anyone else but "chores" are the opposite of FUN.
Maybe there-in lies a fundamental problem with the game?

Welcome to FAT ------ Where new OP hulls & weapons are exclusively released (making it a chore)
Welcome to TOKENS --- Another time limited chore
Anyone from Kix that can see this is the direct opposite of what was promised?
