I'm a lvl 19 player. There is a lvl 24 player that farms me everyday with rancor or talon . But since i changed my inner turrets from heavy beam laser to gauss gun, last time he attacked me, he can only destroy 25% of my base. So i unlock heavy plasma charger.
I have a question, should i change my heavy gauss gun into heavy plasma charger?
Thanks
Use this Layout tell level 28-30 (when you have plasma/Mass driver) form there you can swap out the guass for them. at that level you want min 4 beam turrets (either 4 pulse beam on turret, or 3 on turret 1 on bridge). No more then 2-3 Plasma/md are needed. Once you reach polaron 5, You should swap some of them with the chargers, as their dps is superior.
Remember: Armor tech Is extremely important.
@Praetor: Stop teaching people how to be absolutely farmed... good gawd. Not a shred of your advice was even close...
@Dito: Here's the deal. You want your towers to be touching, or one space away from your Bridge at ALL times. At the lower levels they can always be touching, but when you get to have all 12 of them you can't guard your storages if they're all touching the Bridge. Here are some basic tips:
1 - Build ONE storage at first and keep it up to max level until you NEED another one. Then build another. This limits how much you must guard so that you can do so easier. It also limits how much can be stolen from you. Build ALL your AM storages when you can and use them as extension modules to all your miners and such since you won't be needing AM until you are much higher level.
2 - At the beginning levels you need to mix your Heavy Beam Lasers and Heavy Gauss Cannons to take care of short and long range. But once you get your hands on Heavy Plasma Chargers you should immediately change some of your towers to include them. Prioritize these over Heavy Polaron. "PCs" are far better than Polarons.
3 - It will take some time but you should eventually come across Heavy Plasma Torpedoes. These are a MUST for anti-sniper bases. Until you get these you will be vulnerable to people with Destroyers equipped with Mass Drivers. Fortunately, Mass Drivers are a higher level weapon and most of your enemies will not have them at your level so you can rely on the Heavy Plasma Chargers until you get them.
4 - Top level bases are often best equipped with approximately: 6 Heavy Plasma Chargers, 4 Heavy Plasma Torpedoes, 2 Heavy Beam Lasers and an extra Heavy Beam Laser on the Bridge. Each of the "Torps" should face different directions and not be close to each other, "HBLs" should be kept closer in and lay in wait for a blitz. PCs should not be more than 1 module space away from a Torp, otherwise 'snipers' can use Destroyers + Mass Driver to take them out without the Torp defending you.
5 - Do NOT put armor or shields on miners, labs, Bay or Factory. Only put armor and shields on Combat Modules ("CMs"), the Bridge and your storages (not the AM ones). That way you go into damage protection ONLY if your military power is reduced. Otherwise people may try to bypass your other stuff and hit your military power which does less overall % to the base and does not cause DP as fast.
Finally: At your current level you'll have to have at least 1-2 long range weapons (Gauss, Mass Driver, Torp) so that snipers can't get you. You'll also want a minimum of 2-3 Lasers. The rest should be PCs. Make sure your long range is not close to each other if you have more than 1.
thanks, i'll give that a try
I agree with pretty much all of the points that Curtis said except for 5. If you put some armour on your miners, but not necessarily a shield, the miners will take up more % of your base so they can destroy less miners but bring your base down below 75%. This obviously takes longer to repair.
Heavy Polaron is far inferior in DPS to almost everything, even at level 5 so I have no idea why some people support them as superior DPS weapons.

This advice completely sucks stop telling people this crap design so they can get destroyed.
And you should focus on shields more than armor tech.
But listen to what Curtis said
When you
fail… Don’t Blame Lag
if that's your base I'll see you soon. Such easy res.
PraetorSukeck is still spelling Gauss wrong.
