I have a great talon build that eats the battleships for breakfast, those are easy, the two laser cruisers and the frigate are still proving a major pain.
What shield/weapon combo are y'all finding best to kill them fast?

I have the complete opposite of your problem. I can kill the laser cruisers and the frig with no problem... But the battleships prove to be a major pain.
Here's an idea, why don't you two get together and share your ideas with each other? :]

Not sure if would work, he might have different config for his Talons or use different ships entirely. I use Spec IV - 2x Beam III - Rear III and Iridium II. I tried PB Talon, not enough power to kill the cruiser, five minutes spent turning and shooting will kill the frig and half the tough cruiser.
The general idea is that i want a fleet capable of killing a lvl 40 in less than five minutes. Otherwise, it is better off i hit lvl 35s.
I have a fleet of 5 talons. They have 2 plasma batteries, Tritanium 4, shockwave 2, and rear thruster 3.
When battle starts run away and put your ships in a tight line formation while running away. After they are formed up you keep running until the harrier is about to start shooting at you. At this point have your fleet turn around while still running away and engage the harrier head on while straffing in reverse. The harrier should die before the 1st cruiser is in range.
Fighting the cruisers just turn, shoot, run, rinse and repeat until both are dead. The battle usually ends just before or after the 2nd cruiser dies for me.
Fighting the battleships put your talons in a line formation with about a 1/2 inch space between each ship. Charge the battleships head on and as soon as your ships start shooting straff at a 45 degree angle to the battle ships. About 1/2 of their shots will pass between your ships.
I only loose 1 talon if I screw up on the cruisers. On a good run I can insta repair each ship. Any ships that are low on health when facing the battle ships put them on the outside position of the formation and your full health ships in the middle of the formation.
Soon a new game will come and all of Kixeye's customers will leave in droves and they will wonder "What Went Wrong?"
