NOTE

Following tips no long guarantee your safety after yesterday's patch
for 20, please select your Longbows and right click enemy Rancor as Primary Target, and ready to move the lead ship to avoid fire
for other levels, you need to move lead ship as enemies will be able to fire early.

_____________________________________________________________________

Scenario A:
you got torpedo

5 Longbow with torpedo 1, then any ship at front

when battle start:

-  Move Longbows into a line formation.
-  Move lead ship back (any ship), stay at middle and DON'T move, it attract enemy ships and let torpedo aim straight.

Then it's done, no more action needed (just don't leave battle too early or your fleet will move forward due to auto )
Watch a YouTube video to kill time ( I watch big bang theory :) )

NOTE:
same tactics works for antimatter 20,23,25. No movement needed, don't move the leading ship too early or your torpedo will lose target prematurely

Scenario B:
you don't have torpedo

5 Longbow with Railgun IV, and Genesis (any weapon, prefer a railgun) at front.

-  move Longbows into a line formation.
-  move lead ship back, stay at middle and turn it to left or right
-  Start moving genesis and  circle that rancor. mean while, STRAFE your Longbows the SAME directions your Genesis maneuver (if circling from left, then your longbow strafe left), so that Longbows can evades Rancor fire effectively.
- Carefully evade railgun fire with your Genesis, Done.

    For maximum efficiency:

Take 2 attack fleets, after last volley fired at enemy Longbows you can leave the battle.
Engage another target with your other attack fleet.
    (watch TV,film in the meantime :) )

I usually carry at least 3 Cargo Fleets to collect the drop.

For the capacity of Repair Yard VI, a good cargo fleet you can get is following:

(I know you could have 6x rancor, but currently some of my ship has some armor on yet, not gonna waste time since Cargo IV will be available soon)

if you don't have Rancor yet, 6 Genesis with Cargo 2+3 gives 246,000

I like my longbows with torpedo+laser so I don't get trolled by small fast ships. Similar layout, but my entire range is covered.

No need to worry about for range for 15,17,20 and antimatter 20, 23, 25, nothing will breach torpedo's minimal range before they got destroyed, as long as your lead ship don't move

only in antimatter 27, 30 you need to move your cruiser forward and circling

besides, if there is not enough torpedo volley, your lead ship could be hit before you blow everything up (unless you strafe, then that's not at rest :))

    PS:
Laser sucks big time against Vega ships

For some reason the last longbow tends to get a shot off at me before it's destroyed killing the ship in the middle. I have gotten where I use a instant repair ship as the man in the middle. Thanks for this tactic.

Edit: Just noticed your note at the top. Glad to hear I wasn't doing something wrong.

Is there an update to this tactic since you cannot put 2 torps on LBs now after the torp nerf last night? I am taking a lot of damage on a 20 and only gaining about half the res by the time I repair. Thoughts?

I never actually tried this tactic, but intend too next time Im on game. IF the torp nerf affected this, rails might work just as well. Perhaps rails IV or whatever fits on a long bow.  However a very effiecient and FUN way to take out 17's & 20's (probably lower ones too);  Is to kite them with 5 corvettes (2 x rail1) and have a harrier in the fleet. Send the harrier way forward out of the way. The corvettes will kill the 3 enemy genesis's.  You might lose 1. Slow down and take out the rancor. Once thats done, send the corvettes off in  direction to distract the enemy long bows, then bring your harrier in to finish them off. You dont really have to distract the LB's as you can easily dodge their rails with your harrier. Its just fun ;)
Playing since Feb 2012.  Originally sector 304

This is too silly of a tactic. It is far easier to simply use 5 Corvettes + 1 Harrier with Railguns. The first four ships will kill themselves chasing your Corvettes, the last two Longbows will die horribly to a strafing Harrier.

While I cannot dispute that this may be the fastest way to kill a 20, it is probably the most useless. Anyone who can afford the ships used to do this can just as easily build the ships needed to kill sector cargos. And anyone that does not have the ships to do this cannot use it as a means of help.

There is only one truly helpful means of of advising the destruction of planetary cargos - Corvettes. Maybe a Harrier thrown in to handle the Longbows in 17s and 20s. But Corvettes can do all the necessary work to kill ALL planetary cargos with Railguns. Sure, people without skill might lose a few, but it can be done.
    I don't play much anymore =(

Send 1 Genesis with Missile I to fly in a really big circle around the lvl 20 fleet. Must avoid Rancor, enemy ships such as genesis only need to be barely in firing range. Keep flying in circle until enemy rancor is left. Then send 5 Genesis to over run it.

Not exactly fully efficient, but works with practice.

Great strategy! Even with the recent AI change this strategy can still be utilized with a little bit of tweaking here and there.  Thank you for posting this.

I kill 20s, 23s, 27s, 20 antimatters, 23 ams, 25 ams, 27 ams, and 33 sector cargos with just harriers. I can do the 20s with 1 fleet. You need 6 harriers all outfitted with 2 lvl 2 beam lasers, lvl 2 tritanium OR lvl 1 iridium as armor and lvl 2 shockwave shield. Bait the faster ships by running away then rush them. They die FAST. Then rush the rancor with all the harriers. It dies fast too. Lastly, send 1 harrier to dodge longbow fire and kill the longbows. One attack and you're done. A cheaper faster strategy than the one given with exos and bows as its free instant repair.
