Heavy Polaron Beam vs. Heavy Plasma Charger

So soon I will be changing out my Heavy Beam Lasers and I am stuck between Heavy Polaron Beam and Heavy Plasma Charger, which one should I take?
BYM Level: 34-36 (Quit, Can't remember my level)
BP Level: 34
WC Level: 31
VC Level: 37

    Heavy Plasma Charger
    Polarons can be dodged, Plasma Charger cannot, and even has more DPS (although it is spread out).

    Whoever suggested 'other' isn't thinking. If you are only just getting these two tower choices it means that Mass Driver and Plasma Torps are not on the table. And so the only other option would be to keep Lasers and Gauss - not wise.

    So I should get Plasma Chargers? Also wouldn't it be easier to dodge Heavy Plasma Chargers because their projectile speed is slower even though they do have some splash.

    Plasma Charger sprays the shots. Even if you had great strafing you have no idea which side of your ship they'll fly off to, or whether they'll fly directly at you. It's like being shot at by a shotgun. You don't dodge that sort of thing. Even if bullets moved really slow the work of dodging a shotgun is way more than the minor position adjustment of dodging a rifle shot.

    how can polarons be dodged? even with harriers everyone i shoot with lasers hits them. every laser ive seen shot hits its target. polaron is a laser that shoots just as fast as all the others and i still dont see them getting dodged

I say this because I have actually done it. Harriers can dodge Polarons. I think it may be possible for other ships using strafers to do so as well. The key is to change direction around the same time it fires. This requires good timing, but it can be done.

    I am at OP3 and currently use both on my base because they are two diffrent kinds of attack.  one being explosive, and the other being energy forcing a fleet to slow down when attacking my base.  I also have Heavy gauss cannons for those fleets that try to outrange these the two types of turrets.   I think this works quite well for me. but I do keep my firepower vary well concentrated together so It's vary hard to get close the core of my base, or even rim it well for that matter.

    Baloneyjustice where do you put your Heavy Polarons and Heavy Plasmas? (Polarons at front or back etc.)

    My Pols and Plas Charges is right next to the Gauss on either side, so there is vary good chance if you try to attack a Pol or Plas Chargers, you have to avoid the gauss fire.  Im going to replace the Gauss with Photorpedoes once I get up to OP4.  That has a much longer range and slightly faster rate of travel, but still avoidable if you can manuver...  

    Still if you have 5 of Plasma torpedos on your base, it will drive away most visitors.
