Any suggestions on getting resources?

I'm a level 13, and as I'm constantly upgrading/researching/building everything, I expect to be low on res. But it seems I'm constantly lower than I had expected. I have a fleet of 5 longbows (Will have 6 as soon as my dock upgrades again), so I'm good to open salvage. I also have all miners up to level 4. Any more suggestions on what to do to build up some res?
The_Doctor Level 56. Went into the ice 5 years ago and woke up to a different game. To be honest, I make all this up as I go along.

    Harrier Frigates mate, these are the key to win.
    I auto-attack a lot, so I just use the Harrier Frigates with Railguns and BOOMBOOMBOOM.

    Of course, when you get the Genesis, research those and use them (to auto-attack as well)

    Thanks a bunch! I wish I would've built the HF with Rails now, instead of Longbows... But I have the Genesis coming up as soon as I get my Naval lab up. Also, will rail gun 2 be enough on those? Or should I upgrade to 3 first?

    Don't forget that you can adapt your ships after you build them, so you can switch your HFs weapons to Railgun 2.
    Yeah, Railgun 2 is definitely ok for auto-attacks (3 is too heavy).

    a longbow fleet with a harrier in it can also take 17s and 20s with 0 damage in 1 minute when controlled
