Do no hit sectors really exist? Truth Vs. Myth

Those who roll from sector to sector see it all the time.  Hit a sector and ask, just for chuckles, across the public comms what the sector rules are.  Low and behold, a few seconds later here come dozens of response:

No hit sector
We don't hit insector
This is a no hit sector
If you want to hit bases go out of sector
blah blah blah

Then the screams start as the person who rolled in starts rolling bases breakin' the rules they just asked about.  Usually, they go after the biggest and the smallest they can find just to make the point of what they can do and no one is safe.

So the question is posed:  Do no hit sectors really exist?

Well, I venture to say they don't.  There is no such sector, perhaps a few no-hit players, but the existence of a sector that does not have people hitting within it is a myth that those who live in these alleged sectors like to think exists.  How you ask?

Well, when that player rolls in and starts hitting others, what is the first thing the sector does, sometimes effectively, sometimes not so effectively?  They roll fleets to try and shut them down.  Dock hits, sniping fleets, attempting to hit the base of the offender.  All of these within the confines of the sector, within it's borders.  So, if it is a no hit sector and someone shows up and starts hitting bases and that players base is within the sector then a true  no-hit sector will not attack them.  After all, it is a no-hit sector isn't it?

But the state made it illegal for citizens to kill citizens and legal for the state's employees to kill murderer's under the scrutiny of a judge.

I see no judge in these sectors, no trial and no laws.

So in the end this is just vigilante justice at it's best and we all know that is illegal.

Do whatever you want to do.  If you enjoy it, so be it.  People will respond however they see fit.  Your 'argument' however, is specious patchouli scented 'if you execute a murderer that makes you a murderer too' logic that relies on establishing a false equivilancy between action and response.  It's a **** game, play it however you feel like and everyone else will do the same.

when you hit insect , then you open yourself up for others to hit u then. nice try on the logic of you being hit is insect hitting though :)

also its not just hitting your base or fleets, its not helping you in anyway, when you under attack or want help in raids or want help in any other way.

no insect hitting isn't a myth, its there and when a sector works together well, then it can be dealt with easily. personally I love no insect hitting, enjoy working with people I become friends with on mass attacks in neighboring sectors, love seeing someone coming out of my base and getting caught by 1 of the many fleets at my base helping. love catching people coming out of battles and helping my friends. all in all, its much fun and way it should be imo.

end of day, each to there own on how they play.

Why do you idiots whine about a no insector hitting sector? You **** fool, you can hit anybody anytime. And if we hit you back you get just what you want, a sector where you can hit anybody. Dry your eyes sis and play the game.

Play game to have fun. Even insector hitters have a "home sector" they do not hit in as it is full of their friends that taught them the game. The sectors they jump to are other peoples "home sector" they do not hit their friends. Notice the insector hitters are only ones post forums about stuff? Dont remember seeing a end to insector hitters post. I do not hit insector but I do not knock those that do I respect their game play and have some fun battles while they are around.

It comes down to this example everyone has diff house rules so you play Poker and diff people host games at their house. Do you show up at Joes house and say your rules suck this is how we are going to play. No you go to Joes house you play by Joes rules when you host the party you play by your rules at your house. If you did not like Joes house rules you dont play the next time he host the party.

lol.. you must be really bored with the game bro... come to think of it, the only reason I'm here reading all these deep thoughts is cause I'm bored as hell too :/

I do love the logic of 'it can't be a no hit sector if you're going to hit me back :O '  I even think a few would be attackers secretly hope there are those who will fall for that line of BS and say OK, we won't do it :p

I think the no hitting in sector rule only came about because of trying to co-ordinate attacks via Comms that the whole sector can see, and because you had to put up with whining/complaining/bragging in Comms after a hit. By hitting out of sector, you didn't have to put up with the abuse or the whining in their Comms, and you could (potentially, without spies) better organise a larger hit of several players into the adjoining sector.

Of course, now a messaging system has been introduced, people can privately send you bragging, abuse or whining. Alliance chat also allows for group attacks (in game at least, I'm aware a lot of people use team speak or even facebook chat as well). In my opinion, this makes any reason for having no in sector hitting pointless, and I wonder why there isn't more out there. I don't understand why so many stick to it still, but it seems like there's a lot of people that agree with it across a vast number of sectors.

u do have a slight point here if there was ever going to be anyone telling anyone what to do it in theory should be the guys who been here longest but in reality no player should be telling another player anything its in theory a game with no rules except the obvious ones (no cheating no racism ) so do as u please as long as u don't brake kixeyes rules i guess

I agree Laevus back in the old days when massed fleet engagements were taking place that was one of the reasons we had a no hit sector. With the end to the big sector wars it really did make for a weaker sector mentality but was carried on by people who want either a bit of authority or a nice cuddly place where they can feel nice and accepted by everyone.

In the players eyes the enforce no in sec hitting it exist in the eyes of me and older players it does not. In the non raid days of this game before you could move i believe that most sectors had a mix of hitting there own sec and then working together to have huge fleet battles with the sector to the north and south as my sector did.

Would also like to note that yes my home sec is a no rules sec, hit who u want and get hit back by that player or an alliance member. But when i go there every once in a while i will see all the lower lvl new players to the game will get together in comms and have a **** fest about "WE SHOULD MAKE THIS PLACE A NO HIT IN SEC PLACE" every time i go back to 192 i will see that happen with the low lvls and then they just get smashed by the older players who have kept the sec a no rules sec.

I tend to think that all of the in-sector hitters who start threads complaining about it are looking at it wrong. There are sectors that are free or war zones or whatever you want to call them. They are an important part of the game. Other sectors are much safer where most of the inhabitants that stay there adhere to a certain set of moral codes just to keep the peace. There are no rules that dictate that, just a general consensus of the masses. I do like the point that you never see one of these threads from the other point of view. I guess they have better things to do......

Yeesh. This argument has been used by the comms warrior style of insect for over a year. Get a new one already.

The trouble with it is, you advance it because you're trying to show off how so very clever you are. Not because you care what the responses are, other than to make comms go to crap for your own entertainment.

The forsaken relied on Piracy, or something across those lines,  according to the Battle Pirates Introduction video. My Home Sector is a no - hit sector, yet, lets just say i'm K.O.S

The reality is that people who ONLY hit in-sector to attack an in-sector hitter, are really just in-sector hitters who are afraid of retaliation from the masses or who don't have the stomach for an actual war-like situation.

Also, I never ask what the rules are when I arrive in a new sector because I know the rules - they are posted here on Kixeye's website. I generally don't have much to say about the subject in comms unless someone else starts telling me how I should play.

There's no "No hit sector". Just people claiming that since you're in the same sector, that you should be working together on the same side and not hit each other. I'm sure that's what alliances are for.

The only thing that the sector means is which chat channel you are in and an addition number in front of your coords.

People who make this argument (you can't hit me and claim to be a no hit in sector) are just cowards afraid of repercussions of their actions.  True story.

    Another good post Jerk.

I do jump around sector to sector and depending on my mood and how comms is when i land in a sector i sometimes hit in sector or i help the sector.
I have also played sector cop in my home sector for over a year and defended it from outside sectors and insector hitters.
It has always been same things on comms ever since i started playing.

    No hit sector
    We don't hit insector
This is a no hit sector
If you want to  hit a bases go out of sector
If U need help we will open cargo  bla bla bla

This is how my sector was when i started playing and the sector is still like this now,

WeThePeople [FKU]...Wow i'm still playing this game,

I don't hit insector and I fight anyone outside the sector I'm currently in and help people grow.   I offer advice on ship builds, do's and don'ts and get them started in the right direction on how to make their ships to do what they want to do with them.  That is "MY" playing style. That is all it is. That aside "No hitting insector, no hit sector" whatever people want to call it. It's a honor code and a way of playing the game. Nothing more.  It's a game, if you get hit by your neighbor get over it. It's a pirate game and people play it how they want to play it. For someone to dictate your playing style on either side of the argument need to remember the fact they're playing a game.  People choose to play how they want to play this game.  If they want to plunder and pillage everything in their wake by all means. Game lets you do it. Play it how you like too.
