I think unless map speed is going to be increased than the +/- 2 sectors is useless for most as it would take 60 mins to get to a base and than 60 mins to wait for it to get home to repair I don't know about others but I already hit in sector to save time as I don't have alot of it to waste.
I'm a level 29 and as soon as this happens evey level above will be able to attack me. So be it, bring it on.
I'll be the new breed of pirate that will face challenges that would have made you old timers quit. I'll be one of the first pirates to have to battle players 6 and more levels above me.
I'll be the first pirate at level 29 that will have to defend my base against 35s+ driving blitzing Strike Cruisers or Dreads with magic ships in tow sporting SFB3, HB3, and auroras with mind numbing moduels.
The old timers grew up soft, FFs with mortar fleets? Please.
Yes, I'm level 29 now. I'll grow, I'll survive, I'll have fought battles and defended my base facing things that would have made you run and scream, tripping over your new pretty pink dress. And when I do level up you will learn to fear me for I will have faced challenges you never dreamed of.
I will be one of the New Breed Of Pirates, stronger and smarter because of all these new challenges you never had to face, especialy at level 29. Then I'll come looking for you.
Yes, I'm level 29 now, so farm away while you can.
This is a great idea but I really think that the bracket starts at the wrong lvl , from watching battles an base attacks u really need to start the bracketing at lvl32 an not lvl 29 ( current lvl structure) players at lvl 32 an up most likely have every wep an ship researched an known to battle pirates while players 29/30/31 probably only have 1/4 of the research done an ur asking that they def against 32's an up . NOOO way can they do this they will be farm city an quit. Those that complain about the bracket on comms are the lvl 33 an up the reason for this is ur going to force them to compete with players with equal research an weps . by taking away there farm bases usally lvl 31 an lower. I say let players 32 an up have at each other let players lvl 31 an lower have a chance dont throw players 29-31 to the wolves .!!!!!!!.
Why are u punishing the players who earn the lvl they got to I had my licks in a year of playing this game I think its about time for to find another game every time I turn around Kixeye is changing all the rules so this is going to cause a lot more players to make a 2nd base to be able to hit lower lvl base that is what u do not need in stead of change the rules of the game all the time catch the hackers and fix glitches I do not fell this system is fair at all how do u not learn if u do not get hit by better players
dont think you would have lasted when most of "us" old timers started playing. Just saying different game at the time but a good amount of us will still play dont worry u will be farmed.
dont think you would have lasted when most of "us" old timers started playing.
You sound like my Grandfather.
I doubt you could survive levleing up in this game today. its not anywhere nears like it was in the old days when you had to push your fleet up hill in the snow with no oars to the base next door.

Blackwater pirate, started in sec 95, been pretty much everywhere since then
I somewhat support this change, but at the same time I don't. I agree with it because of the current situation with the low levels being farmed to hell with siege equipment because of the +/-5, but at the same time I dont like it because it will force you to hit people of your level or higher. I do not think this is a very good idea in a game based on a RNG roll for the best weapons in the game, with no other way to obtain them.
Blue prints came out when I was level 26, I didnt get my first shockwave til lvl 29 (N) and shock-L at level 30. Siege mortar (D) was at level 32, and siege missle (A) was at level 33. If this update occured when I was level 31, there would be absolutely no way that I could hit modern day 30-32 bases with little shockwaves. I think this needs a little bit of revision, because if a level 30.5+ cannot do the -5 (If I read that correctly) it will be incredibly difficult to do any base hitting unless you are incredibly lucky or coin.
If I read this right then those that becomes above lvl 50 should be able to hit down to lvl 40 and that is more resonable then the earlier proposal.
One thing I just what to add to this is that for us that played for long time we had to fight and work hard for all we got today. I read for many that say that release this and this to everyone, and also that they dont have this and this weapon from BP:s well I worked hard for almost 4-5 month just to get those weapons and know that for that u dont get for free...I feel that some are to s
Graywolf LVL 59
Coining is part off the game. Cheating and hacking is not.
on the open level front 30 would probably be better than 29 as at 30 they should have du4 and some base specials.
I like the opening of the range to hit but travel time would be an issue, but not insurmountable. to address it without changing the basic mechanics (changes may cause glitches) you could add a navigation center to increase speed, a navigation sattelite rocket to improve speed for a set time, a tactical module which increases speed on the main map for fleets in its vicinity so that the attacking fleet doesnt need the arbiter, and this later effect could apply to allied players when u bring in alliances.
It is something to consider, but I can't make any promises. Still, you can stack Streamlining 3 and the new speed module for a nice boost.
I thought about that Swag, and you are of course correct in this - but with bases getting SOOOO much better & stronger, the idea of dropping a key base attack ship to add in an Arbiter, then dropping one of crucial few specials slots on the other boats to add hull streamlining sounds like it would be the difference between a successful base hit and a complete flop.
You guys have worked VERY hard to balance base defense capabilities to the level of ships won in raids - having to downgrade ships to accommodate new travel times would only upset that balance in favor of the bases. Unless we could have base attacking boats with tact slots... now that might be a workable solution.
I like this new level structure and the 5 sector hunting area. As to map speed problems, how about a "jump across sector" button? Say you are homebased in sector 5 and you want to attack a base in sector 3 or 7. Hit the button and a window pops up asking "Jump to Sector 3 or 7?" If you are not in your home sector or already in sectors 3 or 7, the button is disabled. This would also save travel time across your own sector. The jump could place you on the same "Y" coordinates you are currently on. After your base(s) attack is completed in sectors 3 or 7, the button is relabeled with "Jump to Home Sector" and jump each of your fleets home and a lot of travel time is saved.
Its better than it was but I still don't really like it to be honest. Whats wrong with how it is now? If it aint broke dont fix it.
I am soon to turn level 31, so this means I will be new level 45 and only have to hit level 40+ (old level 29+)
At the moment i only have one base fleet built and dont have siege weapons to play with, so basically il only be salvaging, hunting blueprints and building ships until i reach new level 50 and can sucessfully take on people 40+.
If you do still decide to go ahead and impliment this feature, thanks alot for killing my new favourite game, where i have just got to a stage where i can fully enjoy it and go and hit bases, since it takes until level 30 or so to get your base up to standard, my fleets still suck so I cant take on players my level with du4 turrets and goliaths and siege tech base guard fleets
I have been playing the game approximately 6 months to get to this stage, at level 25 I could hold off base attacks from most level 30s as long as they didnt have siege weapons. If the whining level 25s who get flattened by level 30s actually worked on their base defence, instead of trying to get seawolves made, then they wouldn't become farms for higher levels.
I have gone to attack bases of people with fleets of seawolves and ff's, and they have level 2 turrets in their bases still, or are laid out with 1 or 2 howies protecting resource gatherers. Just because some people get their priority's wrong then cry about it, I don't see why those who have dedicated a lot of time to this game should suffer.
At level 25 i had bbs and subs to kill things with, no fancy shiny seawolves, but i learned to play the game, using my subs and working on my defences. I did have level 3 turrets and weapons and level 5 outpost, and could hold off most attacks, but this helped me realise what makes a good design and what i would need to change.
I rarely hit level 25s though as its not much of a challenge, but i do if they have been bullying my small neighbours. Also repair times are so long that it would have me out of the game for the rest of the day if i go to hit a fellow level 30 or a 29, as they generally have good bases.
Don't like the level changes, don't understand why you need to expand out the levels like you plan. When you changed the level of salvages, it confused everyone for a while.. this will really confuse many players. I just really don't see the need to do this.
well i been thinking and if the new lvl system dose come in to play how about upping the weight limit in dock so yes u can only hit 1 lvl each way but equals things out cos u can fit ur fleets better for the lvl bases u have to hit
Hello Kixeye and may I first say thanks for having a way for players that enjoy this game to send their own thoughts on ideas presented by yourselves and or other players.
I will not be reading 75 pages of feedback from this thread and the first so I apologize if I "steal" or repeat anyones ideas. It appears to me that the RATE OF LEVELING is at the origin of the proposed changes. Some of us like the rate and accept it however it DOES create LARGE discrepancies in player strength. If you decided to leave the rate alone something SHOULD be done to adjust the +/-5 standard. So in proposal 2 it appears you are proceeding with changing the level rate. Fine, however, why wouldn't you simply adjust the +/- 5 as well? Doubling the attack area is a good improvement to the game but I feel is a decision that needs to be evaluated apart from this level rate proposal. Very few people are asking for it. Travel times are not happy times, please remember this.
So back to the real issue, who should be able to attack who? Under the new levels +/-5 is insufficient. Lets take a look: I am a 33 so here is my current opponents, 28-38. Under new setup I can no longer attack a level 31! Everyone agrees that a 33 currently hitting a 28 is a mismatch, but NO ONE thinks a 33 hitting a 31 is a mismatch and it would no longer be allowed! So to keep your new rate tier, you should seriously evaluate the range from 5 to as much as 8 at least. Is a 33 hitting a 29 a mismatch? Usually, but not always. A 29 will be a 40, and a 33 again a 51. That's 11 (simple math, not being condescending). So if we say no to 29 vs 33 then maybe the range is +/- 10?
EDIT:
•Players Level 40 and above can be attacked by any player Level 40 and above.
THIS IS RIDICULOUS. A short term solution that will have levels 40-50 crying this time next week. Can't you hear the moaning from players turning 40, "I turned 40 today and got destroyed by a level 65, THIS GAME SUCKS!" A free for all will RELOCATE and WORSEN the current inequality issue. Lack of target complaints under +/- 8,9,10 could only come from current level 35's and up. Reward these veterans at level 60 a map speed expert in the Great Hall. I seriously doubt a player of that quality will be complaining about the number of targets.
The decision to change the levels is great and fine but to me, the real decision KIXEYE has is to the attack range. I request it be no less than 8 and no more than 10 under the new level structure.
This is ridiculous..as a level 34 player I will only be able to hit level 33 and 34 players... look around..not many of those around on adjacent sectors!!! i count 2 bases between 2 sectors i could hit!! so what are larger players supposed to do..sit on their bums and twiddle their thumbs???
I wont be able to attack bases anymore.....greeeeat...

Ok knucklehead...Go back and re read the first post on this thread...They revamped the design so that anyone at the new level 40 is now free game. So Ideally once you get to the old 35 you will still be able to hit your 29's. You get to 36 you can still hit 29 and up...They are finally putting it on the players to build their base up before they get to the big time.

couple things YOU should read...
Along with the new distance rules described above, we're updating the attack range rules to further increase the number of valid targets, especially for high level players. The +/- 5 Level range is remaining, but would no longer apply to players level 40 and above (currently level 29).
This sounds much better, esp being able to hit 2 sectors in either direction! Very much looking forward to this feature!

I have spent 10 out of the last 13 days in a Bubble coz some level 33s came in they left 2 days ago i am level 29 have been playing almost 3 months have no Drac ships or DU4 or upgraded base guns etc will be at least a month with upgrade and research times and now anyone can hit me and i cant hit below me at all not much to look forward too.
The higher players have been here longer so been able to win ships etc us new comers just have to take being shafted or quit.
All you have to do is 2 things to keep the high level and low level players happy. Make it a +/- of 3 and level 35 and up able to hi Drac bases. I lied add a dry dock also . If your proposed changes are implemented I'm done playing
