Here is an idea to help alleviate travel times. Remove the hull streamline as a special, make it so once you unlock the full bp it is automatically incorprated into your ship build. Once you complete hull 1 all your ships get that map speed bonus same with hull 2 and 3. That would speed up travel times and not waste a special slot that is needed for base hitting. I mean if you make something and someone shows you an idea to improve it, why wouldn't you continue to make the improved version instead of the same old crappy one? We hear all this talk about game evolution how about some in game ship evolution here.

Right now I'm a level 28, and if I'm understanding this, in the "old" system, no one over 33 could attack me, but under the new system IF I go up just one level, then I can get hit by a level 39 (new + 87)???????????????????????????? I can NOW understand why all the BIG players are saying "OK, yeah, this is a GREAT system now!!

So some of you think it is taking TOO long to move up a level now(?), just wait till a fleet that is, maybe, 15 LEVELS above your base (5 levels above a base is about the average now) hits you!!!!! IF THAT is the case, then KIXEYE needs to CHANGE the LENGTH OF THE BUBBLE to at least FOUR OR FIVE TIMES AS LONG AS WHAT IT IS NOW, maybe up to a WEEK LONG (and that is just to be able to get back to where one was before you got hit by GOD HIMSELF - because that is what it's going to feel like with this much disparity)!!!!!!

Different Map speeds are pointless, Double the Map speed of the current fastest fleet so that the extra distance they cover is reasonable, this would produce much more fvf battles and base hits which would in turn improve game play.
After all it is the speed in battle which counts towards victory or defeat.
Before the monthly events, a player would have a (nearly) full DU4 base by level 29 (if not sooner) so the difference between a 29 and, say, 33 would probably be the level of the turrets / specials.
That's pretty fair, so that's why they put the threshold at level 29.
However, with the monthly events, people level up too fast now - in my experience (2 raids); you see 1 level come & go that week.
I think it's fair to say that more then a few of the high 20's and low 30's have the tech & base that correspond with, on average, 2 levels lower.
To give people a little more time, and not 'punish' them for doing the raids, the "free for all" shouldn't start before level 30, I'd say.

After waking up and reading every post ever posted now to sum it up, the above quote should changed from level 40 to a new level of 45
the increased attack distance is good but a overall map speed increase would be great to go along with it.
Now is everyone happy with that so we can stop these 400 posts about complaining that current level 29's can be farmed by current level 36's
This is 10000X better and to be honest I can't wait for it to go into place. I was ready to quite on the last one but now I won't mind investing a little more into the game. Thank you for listening.

and at level 29 you should have DU4 with a decent layout. you can defend yourself against level 36's or at least deter them. No base is inpenetrable but I have seen some decent level 29 layouts. Just depends on peoples time they want to put into the game..

Shut your mouth noob. Get your DU4 and change your layout if you get smacked. You should know enough now to build a decent base. Just because your lazy doesn't mean you shoudl cry about it. This is a good idea. gives people time to learn and then let's them free when they have enough to hold their own..
Question to Kixeye: Why don't you leave the game as it was for so long time? Everyone that is currently level 30+ made his way out to this level by farming and being farmed. Those who cannot take a hit from a +5 level should not play the game. Whiners are in every sector and for sure they are not those who bring money to you!!!
If you want to put some protection for the low end of current limit, simply say + whatever above / -4 or 3 below. I don't think that proposed system will achieve the goal of increased fights. Not to mention the travel time to hit a base 2 sectors away!
Rather than changing the range hitting system I think would be better if you give players some new tweaks for their bases. Yes I believe will keep them going on with this game.
Just my 2 cents of thinking...
Let me first just say that I really don't care for this change much either. However, what I think you need to ask is what ELSE has changed since you and I were probably sub lvl 30s. First off the gap is widening between levels especially in that sub 30s zone. One of the reasons for this is the advanced lab bottle neck and the tech gap it causes. Another reason is that when I was level 25 - 30 (or around there) we still had the attack button. The big bad **** that like to hit 5 lvls below were not nearly as bold and didn't hit nearly as often as they do now that, despite what Swag claims, it is **** near undoable to catch a fleet coming out of a base when the base hitter knows what to do, which is most of them now. So now if anyone bothers to show up at a base under attack at all, you get to chase the fleet around for a while until he either goes home or hits another base. Now they are trying to patch up what they broke when they removed that layer of protection that the attack button provided from constant farming for the noobs and all. But at the same time they have to keep all the big coiners and base hitter crowd happy so they change the feature and re-release it along with a new module designed for base hitters. In the end it's not just about how to make this feature work and be as fair as possible. It's also about using this feature to try and fix some of the unintended consequences of their earlier "fixes" and "balancing". It's all just a domino effect really, none of this had to happen.

So now we can travel 3 times as far for half as much res coz these new ship dont carry much an if you put a new arbiter on a fleet its gonna be even less. like im gonna travel 2hr round trip for 10m res when i can open 2 lvl 33 sals in 5min an have the same amount nearly. the games starting to suck real bad time to renew my xbox live me thinks.
I have to say that after reading the the "new" proposed changes it does not really change much for me. Unless i missed something I can as a level 33 still only hit current 33's. The removal of the 850 travel rule is irrelevant I never tavel that far anyways and I dont know very many people who do or would want to. And the suggestion that you just put hullstream 3 on the the fleet instead is just plain insulting... Like may earlier said. 33's generally dont below 30-31 unless someone has pissed someone off. Also getting hit by a larger level player should make you learn and change the design of your base, I know it does for me when some 34-35 does it to me.
They changed nothing really relevant and i can still sadly see the main part of my battle pirate days being behind me if they implement as is....
Thats my two cents
Obviously you need to read the OP again. As a current 33 you'll be able to hit any current 29+.
I like it Swag, it should keep the people 25-30 in the game instead of giving up when they farmed by higher level players, and whining and quitting It gives them a chance to get their fleets and bases in order for all of us higher level players. Also, I would agree that some more map speed to hit 2 sectors is a good idea.
I would like to see at the implementation of the new level structure is the Dry Dock to coincide with the new level structure. It will allow the higher level players to keep hitting each other and make the ship building and refit a lot easier; since I'm still trying to get hulls out from BI:5 and 6.
Keep up the great work Paul and Swag, and thank you for keeping the players involved with the possible new changes.
I'd suggest a different system which i saw used on a different game.
the way it worked is that any player can hit anybody else regardless of level. the only thing that prevented bullying is the amount of benefit and penalties the attacker and victim receives depending on how far apart their levels are.
example:
a level 30 hits a level 15.
- the level 30 gets virtually no xp and resources for his trouble.
- the level 15 victim gets normal xp, instantaneous repair, and a normal bubble.
- the level 15 gets to learn a thing or 2 and hardly feels any negative effects from the attack.
- the level 30 gets nadda other than the pleasure of destroying something.
a level 15 hits a level 30.
- the level 15 gets double the xp and resources he usually would if he were to attack someone of his own level.
- the level 30 loses double the resources he usually would for losing a battle to a significantly lower level player
a level 30 hits a level 30.
- business as usual.
some balancing would have to be made with regards to the percentage bonuses and penalties you get for hitting different levels, but this makes it so that anyone can be a target and those that are starting the game dont feel the pain as much if they are attacked by higher levels.
the buddy bubble problem this creates i leave to kixeye to fix since they hint that they have a fix in the works for this.
They'd have to get rid of the +8 hours and stopped upgrades for destroyed buildings, other wise a 15 getting hit would loose 8 hours + time until he logs back in on everything.
why change all that when a simple lowering of repair times would fix it. most people that i know only hate being hit cause of the day base repair and those 12 hour fleet repairs not the fact that someone 5 levels higher than me hit me. let us play, let us have wars. i mean it's a game not hey lets watch my broken boats/base repair. open a shop that we can buy stuff in and that should cover the loss of repair coins. just an idea from someone who loves the game even with all the glitches.
THIS SOUNDS BAD FOR THE GAME im currently lvl 34 so if i cant hit lower then wat do i do as i cant be assed to sail to 1 sector let alone 2 sectors to find bigger bases os simlar lvl why change the way it is wen i was lower lvl they didnt even have salvo to grow and gettin smashed off the big guy was good to learn i dont think this should be changed there are loads off changes in this game and i think for the worse some times just my thoughts but if u r thinkin about sailin further i suggest u reduce map time as it get borin sailin longer than 10 mins ...... also wen the hell are u guys gonna give us some thing use full like another ship yard ??????or if u reduce build times im sure ppl would coin more and would be better!!! dam i use coins but wow id need to take out a second mortgage to fund a fleet off every ship i have !!!!!
Just to add my 2p worth - like many others i think that while the increased sector range to hit is a worthy consideration - there is no way in hell i am ever going to travel more than 30mins to hit some-one. i just get plain bored of waiting that sort of time length on a game (and if i send a fleet off and play something else you can be sure that when i log back in my fleet would have been sunk).
short of a blanket map speed increase it may alter my current game style as there will probably be fewer bases for me to hit as I think i am going to fall just about into the level 50 mark in the new system, but time will tell i suppose!
Swag, i think this is a great compromise, but i have a suggestion that may encourage more battles and more people to like this,
with the addition of the 2 sector rule, we are now able to attack at a much further distance, this causes a few problems and complaints with the distance being over 40 minutes to an hour,or higher travel times, only to have the chance of getting sniped and get killed or have to retreat back to your base. Yes we could put streamline on our fleets but that would require us to put it on ALL our ships in a fleet making the power drastically lower.
Instead of making it so that the slowest ship in a fleet, is the map fleet speed, make it average, this will make it so there is use for having streamline on multiple ships, but also allow for people to have more diverse designs, and still get a somewhat good speed boost on the map.
Wow so okay I am currently level 28 so that would equate to roughly 37 on the new scale depending on how far I am so maybe 38. So in the proposed part 1 of this I would have had a chance against those in my bracket as I wouldn't have to worry about someone way higher then me (lvl 33 ==> 51) blasting me into last Tuesday. At level 28 I have roughly half the ships unlocked and maybe 1/4 of them actually built. I stand NO chance against someone who's running around with Stykers or some of the Raid ships as I have only the forsaken tech's which is okay I don't mind it since I wasn't here for those raids. But with this if your level 40 or over you can be attacked by anyone at all proposal that means that some level 85 can come on down to my base and blast me into last Month and there really isn't much I can do about it.
So your part 2 proposal has opened up a lot of targets for those high level players while removing the true protection from the low to mid level players that are still in the process of trying to get a good solid fleet built. I like a challenge that's for sure but I also like to have a fighting chance at the same time.
Swag love the idea of hitting distance of being even futher then it is now but is there a way to reduce the time it will take to get that far. For instance it takes on average 20 - 24 min to get a base fleet into the areas we can currently hit. if we are the allowed to travel even futher it time will be almost double as much as i would like to move two sectors the travel time will just be way to much. Could this be looked at?
I'm pretty sure that players in the 23 - 28 level range would disagree with you.
We all went through it, why should they get a free ride now??? So they can grow up in levels, know nothing about defending there base and then hit lvl40 and BAM get hit by every lvl on up above them?
Yeah that sounds like a good plan to help them out.

Hulls - Who cares (All of them) Sectors - Travel everywhere to Insector Hit Memorials - I hit them all!!
This was something I was writing from the previous thread...
After reading the comments I have sort of changed my mind.
I would suggest that perhaps the level thing should change however work it like this. There should be two considerations:
OP Level...Your "league" should be set by your OP Level. OP Level 1 can only hit or be hit by a OP Level 1. OP Level 5 can be hit by OP Level 5.
If under the new level system a Level 51 hits a Level 33 (both having OP5) then the Level 51 who destroys 4 WH and 1 OP would get Total Resources x 60% x 54%.
If the 33 defeats the level 51 in the same situation the Level 33 gets Total Resources x 60% x 154%
Or we could really open it up by comparing Fleet Level vs. Base Level. If a player is level 20 then any player could hit them with a level 20 fleet or lower. Thus actually a Level 51 could attack any player as long as his fleet didn't exceed the opponents base level. So the only restriction would be Fleet Level. Sort of call it a pirates pride or arrogance and gives you a reason to keep those long ships handy.
They are not useless, I have used the microwave on my blitz fleet (yes I needed to take 1 armor of every ship) and I can sail out of the base again without losing my fleet I also use the subsonic on my Dic fleet and cuda's/stalkers/preds are getting killed easily. But that could also be the fault of the unskilled players I attacked
That's funny... the guy coining the Tac Lab, Microwave Module and a couple of Arbiters (at least) in order to give him the advantage so he can get in a base and take out some fleets with a fleet of Interdictors (that should be able to do the job very well without a module ship) is speculating on the lack of skill of his opponents. BaHahahahahaha...... that is funny.
