Herding subs into a direct fire zone is easy, but we don't yet know what the radius of these modules effects are, nor do we know what the speed of the Tactical Hull is, and using a Stalker as an example was not good lol. Even with engines that thing is easily the second slowest hull in the game next to a Toilet. It's a lot easier to herd Subs into a 94-96 fire zone.
Not everyone has the BattleCruiser with its innate sonar detection, so I used the Stalker Sub. And even tho there are faster ships out there, when your herding subs, its stupid to out distance the ship doing the spotting. Do you actually think this new pod person hull, with them saying Its a LARGE HEAVY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT is going to be the speed of a gunboat??

Since its definite that Kixeye is going to go thru with this no matter what the BP community says, this tac hull building is going to be planted firmly at the entrance to my trench, with all the fortifications possible to be put on it. It will be the best use of it
I like the sound of this module. Although, I would rather get the second shipyard/drydock/ability to build a new hull and refit at the same time before I get any more ships, and its not jsut me that feel s this way.

I would actually like to see the stats on this, instead of here is this ship and mod. we are going make you use. If you don't like it to bad.
I really is hard to give honest feed back on what right now sounds like crap, and not worth even having. So far I think the new hull is a total liability to use, and only one mod might actually be worth using.
as you already know this is something i very dis like.

This post is a re-explanation and clarification of the proposed Tactical Lab and its associated Modules and Hull. I sat down with Battle Pirates Creator Paul Preece to answer your questions in regards to this feature.
Born of the ongoing research project studying Zynthium, this new technology projects very powerful Zynthium powered Electro Magnetic fields that when targeted correctly, can significantly reduce the capability of enemy ships.
Remember Captains, anything posted in the F3 Forum is subject to change, so remember to read the Rules for Posting. We look forward to hearing your feedback.
Just so you know that Directional Electromagnetic Fields are impossible. If you know much about magnetic fields and how they act you would know that. It would be more feasible to have some sort of radio frequency emitter due to the fact that it is easily directional and has a huge range of different effects based off what frequency you use. On top of that problem with magnetic fields, you would "glue" you own ships to that hull just of the simple fact that magnetic's attract first and only repel if there is another magnetic field around it with the same polarity. Leads me to the reason for posting. You have keep it pretty realistic given that its a game. You are looking down the road to a star wars/star trek game with this. I play this because it is more believable and i don't want to play a star wars/star trek kind of game. I don't think it would be the best move.
Thanks for all of the constructive feedback. I have shared your concerns with the developers and they will be making some changes. As this is a feature that will noticeably affect gameplay, it will need significant testing before it is released. I will keep you informed of when this feature is closer to release.
this also is another reason im not big on the hull idea, thats the first ship that will be targeted
now take sonar, your looking at 5 ships, you know one has sonar cause he is shooting at your subs, but what one, makes things a bit interesting
so why should i spend the time to build a hull ,which will put me farther behind, just to have it always sunk from get go and it is now useless.
not trying to be argumentative guys,i like the idea,i just see this more useful as a special
you dont have to use it

Now since I got my question out of the way.. Now for my comment...
I really do not thing yall understand where the player base is coming from here. We all understand that a game that does not evolve and stays stagnate is due to fail.. We do understand this, but what you seem to not understand is that a game with as many bugs, glitches, exploits, is also doomed to fail.
I have tried to get friends to play the game. They Play for a bit and 1 of 2 things happen. They are hit with the white ( or blue ) screens, the SoSs, or see the bottle necks in the game as NOT being fun. SO they quit.
You player base has said what they would like to come from you. Fixing the bugs ( some have been around since I started playing last year ) and addressing the bottle necks that are in the game. WE DO NOT want this Tech Lab feature.. IT WILL NOT HELP bring back FvF ( like I think you desire it to ) FvF is a dead horse because nobody " wins ". No matter the outcome of a FvF fight, you both lose because of insane repair times.
You want to know the honest Opinion why SO many people are against this idea. HINT: It was not how it was presented by Lou the 1st time.
1) IT is because WE the players see this as nothing more then a money grab from Kix. You know the " heavy coiners " are going to coin the lab to max, then coin the new ships. So they can have a tactical advantage over the masses on day 1 of the update.
2) There is ZERO Information being passed between Kix and us the players about current Issues in the game ( bugs and bottle necks) and we the players are at a breaking point.
3) WE the Players know why FvF is dead, and this will NOT help bring back FvF.
Thanks for all of the constructive feedback. I have shared your concerns with the developers and they will be making some changes. As this is a feature that will noticeably affect gameplay, it will need significant testing before it is released. I will keep you informed of when this feature is closer to release.
So does this mean Kixeye will release this even if know most doesn't want it....................:(
I still think it's a bad idea for numerous reasons. First the idea that a ship could force a sub to the surface with an electrical field that just happens to magically affect only subs is ridiculous. What is the point? A fleet with Missiles/Laser with one ship that has sonar in it already has tactical superiority to a sub fleet.
You can call it whatever you want FoE, Aura, Magic Unicorn Droppings... It doesn't really matter. The point still stands that every one of these ideas is ridiculous, the sub nerf module being the most ludicrous of them though.
Kixeye, you have already made it clear that you are planning to go ahead with implementing the idea, so why bother reposting this for feedback when you didn't listen to the uproar the first time. I was on board with the graphics change. I like the new stuff, but now I am starting to see what alot of the naysayers dealt with then when they said their point was falling on deaf ears... You should just close the thread and move on with the plan at this point & let the chips fall wherever they might.

This isnt a minor change. This is a change to combat as we have come to know it in the game.
lol
No it's not. This is the addition of a lab, some new tech and a new hull.
It is YET to be seen what the effect of these changes will be. But I'll draw your attention to what was said in regards to these modules and the hull. That they must be in close proximity.. to be effective. That sort or tells me that Missiles are going to be highly effective still. As well as Torpedoes and that means subs as well. As well as Ballistics.
If you have some information that speaks to the contrary, please, let's hear it. This is no different than the introduction of the SW, the Predator and Stalker subs, the nerf of HB3 or the introduction of SFB3. It will require some changes but it will not change combat on the scale that the "Doom and Gloomers" seem to be indicating.
All too often people OVER REACT to something without seeing or testing it firsthand. And this is historically true for this game.

If its a 12 hour ship build that I can chuck if it sucks thats one thing. But when was the last time we got a ship build that short? If this is another ship that stretches into the days long build...thats harder to just wave off given current game conditions at our level.
lol No, I don't have an inside track, though I wish I did at times. And honestly it's not about defending it. It's about looking at it objectively and keeping this wrinkle separate and viewed that way.
Don't look at it as a sacrifice just yet, because none of us know how this is going to play out. Look at it as a testing of a new weapons system. If it's crap, then you can scrap it but if it's not... At least give the thing due dilligence.
And yeah I hear you about the visual part but I don't think they have progressed that far yet. But should be interesting to see once they do flesh it out.
I have a sneaky suspicion that this will come into a large play and effect further down the line. I suspect that this will play a good part in any coming events we have.
Why can't the Tactical reserch be put in the Advanced Lab, or some other lab. It would save building.

Normal players should get to beta test this too, look at how well it's gonna work on the average joes machine not just in your super powered mega servers or wherever you guys test stuff. would probably pick up bugs you otherwise wouldn't notice until post-release too so they can be ironed out from the start.
When I say beta test I don't mean give it to a handful of players to go attacking other players with ages before release, open a beta test sector and anyone doing it has to be moved there for the beta
Unlike the previous thread about this I didn't read all the 22 pages, so I'm probably repeating something already said...
My concern remains the same : I have no problem adapting to a new tactical gameplay, but I'm worried about ship build times. Not only this adds a few new tactical hull to build, but also refit some of our existing ships (if I have 5 base hiters of equal weight and I introduce a lighter tactical ship, I will want to add weapon/armor on the 4 remaining base hiters) to an extremely overloaded shipyard.
I also have a concern for new players. While the new building has independent research time, it's still 1 more building to build, and then to upgrade. And with only 1 upgrade going on at any given time, this will slow their overall growth.
Why can't the Tactical reserch be put in the Advanced Lab, or some other lab. It would save building.
They could do that but the Tactical Lab is not a land based structure. It will sit on the water and not take up any land tiles at all, so as building footprints go that is a good thing.
