With the new update we introduced Spectator Mode. The new mode replaced the Attack button that was visible when a player clicked on a fleet that was attacking a base. This method was being used to ambush, or ninja, a fleet immediately after it attacked a base.
This method of hovering over the attack button while a player is attacking a base has been removed because it requires zero skill. A player that has finished attacking a base has to wait for the world map to load and close out the battle report screen, while a player attempting to ninja only had to click once to attack. There was no defense against it and required no skill to accomplish.
Players are still welcome to attempt to ambush a player after a base attack, but now the player that was attacking the base will have a fighting chance to escape. In fact we even encourage players to try to ambush other players to see how wicked fast you can be and show off your skillz.
It seems impossible to hit anyone before they recall. I don't like that you can't defend your sector anymore. I think we all would like it if you viewed by clicking the base and attacked by clicking the fleet. But if it is possible to catch them somehow that none of us have figured out this would be ok. Or able to hit moving fleets. just once they recall they are free to go home and can't be sunk.
That is the dummest move yet removing the attack button.... i my self had people waiting outside a battle many times and 7 out of 10 times i got away... when i was caught the opponent could only take 100% ofhis cargo capacity of me and i usually went home with a pretty full tank (400%). this attack feature gave us as a comunity and friends a chance to fight back.
Since this update non of our sector friends have been able to capture 1 attacker and retaliate. Attacks have been plenty because it holds a lot less possibility of negative consequences.
These changes you guys just intruduced, some are good but removal of the attack button is a terrible idea.
There's a difference between "cheap" and "totally unable to defend against". Again, the way it was before required ZERO skill and there should be a small amount of skill involved.
I didnt read through ALL ten pages...but so far i didnt see it mentioned.....what's to defend a base attk if the attker refreshes browser before timer runs out and clicks "move here" 100 times?? That is NO different than having to click the attk button 100 times to ninja a fleet comin out....as far as i can see that is ZERO skill as well.....SOOooo, my math is ZER0+ZER0= +1....add it back to even the odds.
I really like sector defense, and I *completely* disagree with the 'logic' given for this change. Skill-less is slow as dirt base fleets that can't be attacked while moving, and then multi-browser exploiting to get away without being hit afterwards.
With that said, I don't have a big problem with the change. It removes a lot of the glitchiness of the old system (multiple attackers successfully attacking same opponent, etc) and, well, the game changes. I think there really should be some way to force a fight, otherwise we just end up with griefers endlessly harassing miners and newbies they know they can beat, but whatever, we'll see.

your rationale is flawed Kixeye. All you have accomplished is given free rein to those who prey on mining fleets and unattended bases and then retreat to their bubble buddied bases and you call this fair. if you wish to give the attacker a "fair" chance, get rid of the summary screen. no one looks at it anyway and bring back my ability to defend my friends. I just watched helplessly as 14 fleets of miners were sank by a seawolf fleet and i could do nothing to prevent it. So soon people will stop mining, stop looking out for each other, stop working together, stop forming friendships, stop being a community, and STOP PLAYING. This is the most colossal mistake I have ever in the direction of gameplay.

While I can see the reasoning, I think the remedy is far worst than the illness. The removal the the attack button doesn't give the attacker a defence or a fighting chance to escape to take your words, it's a way to avoid fighting.
In a previous thread about friendly bubbling you were talking about the importance of players interaction and how bubbling was going against that... well this change does the same : it kills player interactions. And if I can't attack someone as he leaves a base, or while he is moving, how do I attack another fleet other than a mining fleet ? If ppl aren't sure to win a ship vs ship battle they just won't engage.
And then, what's the purpose of a FvF fleet...? Why introduce changes to make Stalker subs desirable, if you can't engage another fleet (that someone's driving) ?
Before, when you were to attack a base and expect a bunch of people waiting for you to leave the base, you'd bring friends to the party. There was fleet to fleet battles, dancing ships, and most of all fun.
Now, why bother bringing friends knowing no one will wait for you to leave the base... or go help defend a friend's base. Since the update, I log on... salvage on my own, go attack bases on my own. It's become a soloing game with a chat box.
I think most of the other changes in the update are cool ( I would have get rid of the friendy bubbles... but nothing's perfect), but this change to the attack button I think it's not teh right way to go.
Maybe time will prove me wrong (and I hope it does) or maybe you'll consider relooking at this change, but for now it's how I feel about it.
well the game is glitchy as hell now and the not being able to attack after really kind of sucks i think you guys have kinda have taked away the fut cant ambush after abase attack cant do it after fvf so thanks for so the kinda not made it better youve made it worse!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's still possible to ambush players, you just have to be really quick.
With all due respect Swag. You don't know what you are talking about here. It is impossible to catch someone coming out of a base and especially a fleet vs fleet fight if the person you are trying to catch knows what they are doing. This change has declared open season on miners and base guards because friends in the sector can not catch the attacker anymore.
You are also wrong about the old way giving the base/fleet attacker no chance to escape. There are many people who have mastered the art of escaping after the battle.
Some one asked this earlier, don't you guys use real world testers anymore?
LIE of the DECADE!
“It’s easy for others to lose their focus on quality,” That’s where we are laser-focused.”
“If users are more engaged, they naturally spend more money.”
“We don’t throw the ecosystem out of whack. A free player who spends a lot of time in the game has as much chance as a whale who spends a lot of money.”
Removal of the attack option has made sector defence virtually impossible getting away is too simple now especially with the ever present game lag (good for attacking bases though ). Maybe some sort of chance system (1 in 5, 1 in 10 ???) of ninja'ing an attacker would add the element of risk back into base attacks.
ya by not being able to attack after they hit they can just recall there fleet an head back to there base with no problems. it makes it seem like there not really any reason to come to a SOS call cause u cant do anything about it. i believe this was a EPIC FAIL and believe strongly u should bring back the attack button. by bringing it back it puts fear in the attacker eyes to wonder wut is out there waiting for him and brings the skill of the one hitting the base to see how fast he is to escape from the base that he just hit.

The element of annihilation you mean, base attacks will be nill if the attacker has to fight an outside guard, an inside guard. a base and another sector guardian on exit.
All you **** crying, just want a chance to jump a fleet that has just engaged in 3 battles. Where all you do is hit it 1x and it's gone, free res no dmg and 1 shot fired.
For the record I liked defending sector. and was vehemently against a patrol fleet, All you piss moaners where all so happy to put together your "uncrackable bases" voted for the patrol fleet got your way, So stfu stop crying and adapt to what you cried for in the first place!
I suggest ya all watch Penn & Tellers vid about a petition to ban di-hydrogen monoxide and take the lesson from it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi3erdgVVTw

would prefer sinking the base fleet that just flattened someone - or at least a 'chance' to hit them now its silly hard to catch them unless they are asleep / dont know wtf to do or have crashed. some updates are good this i do not think KE have thought about the long term effect.... ie everyone watches no one helps and / or its a 2 player game now hmm not keen on the update at all .. and it is alot more laggy / jittery (sp) now.
oh if this was a teaser, explains why you are all master baiters
This is the most stupid thing Kixeye have ever done to take away attack button.
And Swag if u say it was no way to sneak out after attack then u dont know what u talking about..
All players that play this game for while now that before time ends to go to map and put a marker were ship shall go after attack and then avoid attack.
But to not have the attack button make the attacker to always get away.
Well maybe this is not an issue for real because after last update with features of base fleet the base attack

Would you cann it. Your a pokey with 3 posts. And your complaining about dreads. LOL!!
If they dont give out dreads you will be just fine little dude. Now go back to your BYM and leave the pirating to the pirates

What about persons using two browsers to get off the base more quickly?
If you know what you are doing, there is not much chance of getting attacked leaving a base. I sank 22 AFK fleets and there is nothing anyone in the in that sector could do to stop me.
This could make mining imposable. The way it is now, the only F2F battles happen if you just sit and wait to be attacked. Bring back the attack button.
