It's pretty impossible to catch raiding fleets now. They have the advantage of knowing when to react (you can set fleet in motion before results screen), while defending fleets have to stare for 5 minutes.

This feature helps the end game base hitting, however it all but eliminates team play, which is a big reason this game is addictive. No longer is it effective to help a 27 defend against a 32. Likewise on the attacking side, you could assure escape by having friends engage waiting fleets.

It feels like the end game loners were the squeaky wheel on this one.

The funniest part of ALL of this is, once kixeye fixed the issue of res loss to ninja hits, it stopped being an issue and became an annoyance at best. If I get away I giggle, if I get caught I fight and giggle. In the end this is a huge amount of hooplah over such a small change.

Alot of people still dodged the ninja either by reloading at the last 30 or 20 seconds or just being really quick after battle I guess. This update only made it so they didn't have to have any skill on their part to dodge it. So you're right now it will require a quick reflex and some skill but they don't have to try very hard at all now to avoid it.

Good for you. You are in the minority, sir. I would rather hit their base fleet with something that could hold 5 million res's.

This is a social networking game. If you don't want to get ambushed then take some mates with you to watch your back. This was half the fun and made for some awesome fleet battles. Whats the point of taking the "battle" out of battle pirates.

This feature is already causing a break down in the alliances of the game because people are not even bothering to launch to protect their friends anymore.

I would suggest that you wait and see. I believe they will be adding more features to make alliances relevant. Besides, let your friends get hit, hopefully, they are on and can watch and learn to change their base. If not, alliance mates can watch the levelling and make suggestions and learn as well. Win, Win.

Cheers Kixeye, although not sure I like the idea of people in fleet battles running off this is a benefit overall.

I have stated that I will go with the flow on this update.. Only thing im pissed about is the fact the buddy bubble still works would I like the attack button back??? YES i would ... Do I think the patrol fleet is a bit overboard??? YES I do... But as far as KIXEYE listening to their customers.......

Do you really think all these votes will make a difference??? I mean there was countless pages of feedback on this update before it ever was put in place.. Obviously hooked on phonics didnt work for KIXEYE. Either that or they really dont care about the feedback they ask for... It is obvious if they had read those post then the only update yesterday would have been the BUDDY BUBBLES would have been fixed, the subs would have been fixed and the rest of the game would have been left just like it was. We have 2 poles or "votes" going on the forum atm.. one is to bring back the attack button. The other is to remove the patrol fleets... BOTH VOTES atm are in favor of doing just that. Will KIXEYE LISTEN TO THE MAJORITY??? well I have faith they will but who knows at this point.

Thank you kixeye best part of yesterdays update maybe some of these ninja ambushers will watch the base attacks now and learn how to do more then jump people after a base attack. like go hit the attackers base which would be a real way of helping your friend get revenge

I put up the poll because there are over 20 different threads regarding this issue. Interested to see what the outcome will be.

With the new update we introduced Spectator Mode. The new mode replaced the “Attack” button that was visible when a player clicked on a fleet that was attacking a base. This method was being used to ambush, or “ninja”, a fleet immediately after it attacked a base.

This method of hovering over the attack button while a player is attacking a base has been removed because it requires zero skill. A player that has finished attacking a base has to wait for the world map to load and close out the battle report screen, while a player attempting to “ninja” only had to click once to attack. There was no defense against it and required no skill to accomplish.

Players are still welcome to attempt to ambush a player after a base attack, but now the player that was attacking the base will have a fighting chance to escape. In fact we even encourage players to try to ambush other players to see how wicked fast you can be and show off your skillz.

Incorrect Swag. This tactic was used, as some players figured out, if you refresh the game with 30-40 seconds left on your battle timer, you start off in your own base. Then the game tell you "one of you fleets has entered battle", then you go to the battle, and NOT join it, and they get NO battle report, and the map screen is already loaded, to let them get away, JUST as the bubble pops up. THAT'S cowardly. Not hard for a level 31 player, to CRUSH a level 26 player. Being able to be waiting outside, when you have a reliable alliance, made that a factor for base attackers to take into consideration.

THis is TRUE! lots of people were using this tactic to get away and were getting away most of the time. The game was getting to be fun again with the new base specials bases were a challenge again.. SO now we sit bored as HELL! cant engage in fleet battles unless its planned first by both parties.. Cant hit a base without using 3 fleets and who the hell wants to do that for 25 to28 mill.. The risk is not worth the reward...

You know what KIXEYE? Having to wonder if someone was waiting for me on the outside of a base made it fun and exciting.... To know that I might get ambushed... To kill a sub fleet that ambushed me with my base mortar fleet and laugh all the way back to base. OR to have my base fleet DESTROYED by 3 dreads loaded to the gills was fun to watch.

KIXEYE your taking to much away from the game and what made this game so much more fun than other games... I am a loyal player and will adapt but I feel you will be loosing lots of diehard players to other games.... Swag I understand you are doing your job.. You are great at what you do.. So as the messenger please pass this along. You and the other CM's are our voice weather you agree with what the majority of players think or feel... I dont agree with half the crying but I feel that the players feelings, thoughts and opinions as a majority should be heard.

I was thinking the real reason behind it is not players skill or even KIXEYE trying to stop people from ambushing. I would assume probably 30% of the player base knows about the refresh/reload feature to get away from a base attack with more learning it everyday. One has to wonder how taxing that has to be on already overloaded servers. The game already lags a good bit and by adding the spectator mode it has lagged it even more. I think this was just a way to free up some of the load on the servers.

Edit: Oh and I don't agree with this part of the update. I am not going to whine and pitch a fit over it, but one has to wonder why the buddy bubbles were not fixed and why this was taken away.

    5 dread armor points 120000 weapons 40 ... 5 FF/HH armor (under) 60000 weapons 30 ... who wins ... what skills needed ?
    engine 3 , armor boost , LA3 , SFB3 ...................LA3 and SFB3

Subs are useless in every battle if you dont have engine upgrade in them ... and what help is more dive time if they can be shot under water ?

You make this game more fair and skill needing by giving all prize ships to everyone ! its gone more than 8 weeks from all events what are you afraid ... some CC users whining how they cant bully others ... it still takes 2 weeks to build 1 dread to non CC players !

Dude give it a rest... Sea Wolfs with laser targeting will kill subs just as quick... Dreads with AM's are easly killed by Seawolf fleets thuds and HB3 eng3 and Guidance scrambler... I have lost my am dread fleet more than once to one of these fleets with ballistics. Or hammers loaded with eng 3 and rippers thuds or Dx33.. Dreads are slow they can be over taken and out powered easily. 8 D53 AM missiles no where even come close to the damage that 5 thuds/ rippers/ d33x with hb3 and autoloader can do in 10 seconds.. I have dreads and that 12000 armor points you speak of just MELT away when the ballistics start firing.

Sorry Swag but that's BS. Since the update before this last one, we get that annoying pop up that keeps you from being able to escape anyway.(the one that fogs over the whole screen) So it is now EASIER to be caught coming out of ANY battle...whether base or FvF. Therefore doing away with the attack option of a fleet already engaged only nominally makes it easier to escape. EVERY battle I am in is followed by a "freeze" of the game screen because of this popup. Before this pop up was introduced I Almost Always escaped. Now I NEVER escape at all because I can't click on the map due to the "fogging". If anything with the update prior to this last one you guys made it easier to be ninja'ed as you call it. So badly in fact a 1 armed, no legs, 200 year old ninja could catch a fleet.

It was part of the social aspect of it. It was an integral part of the game. You can say what ever you want but many of us enjoyed helping others in our sector and it does take timing and skill. Just think outside the box and see what each thing is you take from the game. It is exactly what Zynga did and how they kill games. If you want to follow in their footsteps and removing the "fun" social part of everyone working like a team to kick a rivals **** so be it, but don't act like it took no skill. It made attacking harder and you had to take friends with you and it also made the sector work together.

The game doesn't know if your buddies with your attacker or not, since it isn't set up to recognize your alliance members. If they fixed it, so buddies couldn't bubble you, no one would be able to bubble you, and you'd log on to a destroyed base every time.

Rarely do I wake up do a destroyed base.. damaged yes it happens alot as I get hit ALOT.. Once again its easier for you bubble lovers to hide in a bubble than it is for your to actually play the game and make your base better.

It's still possible to ambush players, you just have to be really quick.

its possible if u guys remove the ability to VIEW MAP in battle...

if there is not more ninja attack i would say equal rights on View MAP during battle

99% of the time it is bigg players that atack small ones, while this might be "demeed" in acord with the real world, its not. abusive of "buly" behavior is not socialy accepted. the most violent bullyes arn't even by the book players but hackers. The main deterrant was and remains the buddy sistem by wich smaller playes look out for each other. the knollege that if you go in and atack you will become atacked is a deterent. by making it harder for smaller players to defend each other kixeye is making a point, that they encourage bullying and abusive atitude. Good for you. By not valuying smaller players you will only loose in the end for they will never evolve in to the commited seosoned players that might end up "investing" in a game that is both chalanging and rewaarding.
