Just returned from a brief time away from the game,no longer coining but went to change my faction and noticed that it has now gone from 150 to 300 coins lol. Maybe I should have stayed away lol
The cost to change factions hasn't changed since they were released.
You get one free change per month. Second change is 150 coins, and each successive change doubles the cost. So if you are looking at a 300 coin faction change it means the free one was used as well as the 150 coin change.
If you make the 300 coin change, the next one will be 600 coins.

Thing is I haven't played the game in about 6 months and no longer coin and hadn't for some time even when I did

That's so wrong, to be charing a MINIMUM of US$15 for a visual change in one's base.
Is the game that hard up for money that they then charge for a faction change that has no benefits to base defense?

I'm guessing it was more "popular" when the factions were unique...
Now that the "buffs" have been added from all factions to our bases, totally agree, a WHOLE lot of coin for a skin change> But I doubt that Kix will change it, as it is a potential $$$ earner for those that inadvertently click the change (even though they could get it back through CS)

No idea then. It should reset in a few days though.

Once upon a time it wasn't just a visual change. It was pretty commonly a deciding factor as to whether or not your base worked. I would assume the majority picks their favorite looking and just ignores it after that.
Pretty sure nobody is paying for the changes at this point... I do agree that the cost is quite excessive, but it is what it is until it is changed/removed.
So all the faction is now is a (very expensive - if you coin) skin
