New player help

Hi I just started a new account after being gone from the game since 2016.  They give me some series 1 units to play with and a free CC14 which is nice.  But I have no idea how to progress and get new units.  I can't do the event without heroes, but in order to get heroes I have to do the event.  WTF?  I can't even touch the challenge bases like leviathan, bounty hunter, etc my entire plat would be shredded in seconds.  Is this game just completely pay to win now so I can't do anything without buying gold?  Kinda feels like this.

hi bro i started in 2011 then stopped after 2year  then again start during covid lockdown and i must say game has its days some are good some are bad but haven't yet pay a single dime u just need people that are willing to help u so u could do the grinding your self so ask in your sector for help or come to sector 33 i will help u
