I just started today and noticed right from the go I have all this stuff on my base and im starting out at lvl 61. Is this normal? Other than say starting at lvl 1?
Dont know how that happens - but - ask people in your sector to help you - read the forums and look at the section about game play- you can learn a lot- the game can get complicated and take a lot of time - but you can have fun
yes this is standard nowadays any new base that is created auto starts at lvl 61 and upgrades are done to a certaIn level including portals etc and easy access to some fleets to get you started i was same when i started playing about 18 month ago
it just sucks. I would rather start at lvl 0 or lvl 1 and learn my way through it than to be thrown in at lvl 61 and no tutorial lol. makes me not want to play
click on the command center button , a dropdown menu appears. the last item in that menu is tutorials
just right to the commandcenter button you find the settings button , by clicking this and scrolling down you can read wich keys do what and you might change some settings to your conveniance

The problem is that you can't. With out all that gift stuff, you literally can't progress any more. All of the researchable tech is 10 years old and none of the ships you can gain that way are able to attack anything but basic resource targets, and you will never be able to progress past that.
There is a campaign called "Beginners Treasure Trove" that provides a significant amount of tech to get you jump started to the "new" lvl 1.
