Rebels,

Dade here with the first installment of the VEGA Conflict CM Diary - a brief look at the past month, and a look towards the future. This last month, we’ve released the Renascence Battlecruiser along with the latest Fleet Commander, Victus Noir. There was a general expectation of the Renascence to be more powerful at MKI, and a bug with Victus was quickly discovered. While we’ll be taking a look at the Renascence for some slight tweaks at MKI, the Victus bug will be fixed in the March game update.

After launching Fleet Commanders, we started to see mentions on the amount of time required to level up a Fleet Commander from level 1 to 100. Fleet Commanders were designed for a passive level-up approach, but we’ve seen that an active approach to leveling them up has been popular. In response, the XP requirements for Fleet Commanders were reduced significantly: over an 80% reduction from level 1 to 100. This was not applied retroactively, a common expectation we saw. We’ve learned from the way this change was made, and we will continue striving to communicate changes clearly.

March Changes:

Update Hull Resistances
Previous hulls released in the RPS cycle currently have inconsistent resistances for Alien, Blight, and Plasma damage types. In an effort to keep hull resistances consistent in the RPS cycle, the following damage types will be applied universally to Altairian, Umbra, and Pharamkon hulls.

Altairian = Alien, Alien Nebula, Plasma, Plasma Nebula
Umbra = Blight, Blight Nebula, Alien, Alien Nebula
Pharmakon = Plasma, Plasma Nebula, Blight, Blight Nebula

Dreadnought Fragment/Pattern Oversupply
Excess Dreadnought Fragments and Patterns will be handled differently. The Arms Market was implemented as a temporary fix which allows for spending excess Dreadnought Fragments and Patterns which may have been earned. With the March release, a more permanent, programmatic solution is being implemented, freeing up the team to work on additional features, content, and improvements:

  • Post-March Update: In game limit for Dreadnought fragments and patterns is capped at 1,000 for each mark level. If you hit a target between this date and the min version bump, and 1,000 Fragments/Patterns have ever been collected already from that target (at any time), additional fragments will not be earned.

  • Min version bump: After all game platforms receive the game update, tiered loot will be enabled on Dreadnought Targets. Tier 1 will contain Dreadnought materials. Once enough fragments and patterns at that mark level of dreadnought are collected or that mark hull is built, Tier 2 loot will unlock, containing elements.

  • April 30th: Arms Market removed and excess dreadnought fragments and patterns are automatically exchanged for elements (at an average rate of exchange)

Additional Customer Service Event Support
Customer service will have additional flexibility with accidental prize selections. We previously were not able to add/remove event points from an account. Moving forward, if a prize is accidentally selected, we will be able to remove the prize and credit back points if the event is still active - make sure to write in ASAP!

The Future

Target Payout Change
After the April release, 10% damage will need to be done to a target to receive points. Additionally, if the initial attack does not yield >10% damage, the target will regenerate to full health. This helps ensure all attacks are started with the intention to fully destroy the target, avoiding slightly-damaged targets in the sector and dissuading potential botters.

Daemon Battleship
Concerns on the Daemon’s power level have been floated up, mainly regarding Ship Speed during phasing, lengthy Pharmakon vs Pharmakon battles, a lack of counters to the hull, and overall how the Renascence performs compared to the Daemon. While Altairians have an edge over Pharmakon and Battleships have an edge over Battlecruisers, the Daemon’s ability to outpace the Renascence has been a main concern. We’re taking a second look at the hull for minor tweaks to keep the hull powerful but also meet the power level expectations as defined by the PRS cycle, and hull class considerations. Keep an eye out for changes in the April game update!
