Rookie Question: Weapon Specials

So I have been playing VEGA Conflict for a while now and a thing that concerns me now are specials for weapons.
Which weapon specials are viable? I have been using Iridium Magnets/Arrays to get my hits, but are Phased Projectiles/Munitions much more better?
Are Ion Modulator/Recharger and Sweep Laucher/Maximizer useful at all?
Are their any event/blueprint weapon specials? (heck, is fusion thruster the only unresearchable special?)

Weapon specials are dependent on the weapon type. Never mix weapon types on a single hull.
Focus > Ion
AW > Scatter (Scatter is useless)
Iridium > Phased (The 2 together are great, if you sacrifice thrusters)
Most ship builds use 1 thruster and 1 weapon special.

Focus optics -> Medium/Long range combat
Ion Modulator -> Close range combat
AM Warheads -> Good for grouped ships
Sweep Launcher -> Never use this cancer
Phase Projectiles -> Always leave a mark on your opponent in a fight. Unless you have DC ships, do not use projectiles in high level fights (level 50+)
Iridium Magnets -> Makes projectiles harder to dodge. Unless you have DC ships, do not use projectiles in high level fights (level 50+)

When i was a beginner, i was told to use Scatter to hit targets....

Scatter missiles are pretty good at beginner levels. Don't confuse scatter missile with sweep launchers.

It all depends on your play style. What would be great is the tech labs had information on all weapons ships etc! it is so annoying to have to remove a ship from a flett to see what ships were still usable. or what weapon does what.
