I recently sat and thought long and hard about something the young players face as well as some mid to low high tier players. The MK upgrade system.
As we all know the crafting system works as follows:
Tier Faction Highest Upgrade
1 Rebel MK2
2 Rebel/Vega MK3
3 Rebel MK4
4 Vega/VSEC MK5
5 ISC/DC MK5
The problem I notice is that the highest Tier ships, tier 5, orange, legendary or what ever you want to call, should technically have a mk6 version. Or in the reverse case, the lower tiers should have a mk5 version. There is absolutely no reason to NOT have a MK5 rancor running around, when the fleets that they face have mk5 versions running around. Lets look at the supply runs or in planet crafting fleets. there we see the level 25 RAIDER fleets for rebel pieces. I see in the fleet MK5 Revelation cruisers. Wait a second.....so The NPC fleets get FULL mk5 bonus damage, but we do not? That's a little bit odd don't you think?
Another issue would be as the following example.
Consider the Tier 3 Fury, and the Tier 4 dread. For each MK upgrade, lets consider a +0.5 tier addition to the ships power capabilities. The MK4 Fury, would become Tier 5, whereas the DREAD would become a Tier 6.5.
Low level players can create low level ships, and focus on getting some cheap easy mk5 Rancors and can do well against the EVER INCREASING difficulty of event fleets which include MK5 ships!!!
There is no reason that players should not have the same abilities as the NPC fleets they face.
Conclusion: Make all ships fully upgradable to MK5.
