---Opening---

The command room of rebel base 16343767 comes into focus. Consoles line the walls with a central meeting table overlooking a railing beside it into a wider space dominated by a large screen on the wall currently displaying the view of the space from one of the bases observation cameras. At the railing, a man in his late 20s eyes the screen as a fleet of destroyers and frigates jumps to FTL speed. The man in question wears the rank of Command Admiral clipped on to the shoulder of a form fitting body suit designed to act as an emergency EVA suit in case of sudden depresserization. He appears deep in thought.

A door opens down beside the main screen on one side and yet another man enters wearing similar attire, this time with the rank of Major. "Evening Admiral." "Morning Williams." The tan, slightly greyed Major glanced at the clock in the corner of the screen. "so it is...". He walked up the stairs to the central raised platform on which Admiral Peacy and the meeting table stood and took up a leaning position on the rail next to him. Peacy looked over at his second in command "You're up late." "No later than you... Sybil told me you've been up here all night staring at the screen. Something interesting going on out there?"

Peacy stared at the floor below in contemplation. "You mind keeping this under your cover williams?" The major eyed his CO curiously, "...Alright, what's on your mind?" "This rebellion has stalled... Vega isn't even actively fighting us anymore, what's more, it's come to my attention that the fleets they use to carry their cargo are filled with desperate slaves driven on by brain washed fanatics. They don't even have core recall systems to save the crew, they just drift in space until the self distruct triggers" "... you have an idea of saving them or something? I know things are rough for them but the last times we tried saving that lot, they went crazy and tried to kill everyone." "That's not the only part of the problem, they aren't the only ones going crazy..."

The admiral stands up and walks over to the table where, with a few button presses and a password, he calls up a list of incident reports. "those reports of rebel bases turning on each other have been getting more common and not just the ones controled by Vega. Entire sector clusters are erupting into full civil war and tensions across the galaxy are becoming untenable. Vega isn't the only enemy any more, what was left of this united rebellion is about to shatter and when the dust clears there won't be a united front." Major Williams skimmed through the list. "What about the empire?"

"The Galactic Empire of New Order alliances are already giving orders to form up and I've heard other factions are doing the same. The EDC, ICU... everyone is preparing for something big and I'm not certian how it's going to end." "and how is Vega reacting to this?" Peacy sighs "nothing on the radar... They seem to not even care we exist anymore, lucky for us. Maybe they're cocky... maybe they're just waiting for us to **** ourselves over... hell, at this point, maybe they just don't care. They literally have not attacked a rebel base in this sector for months despite high activity and large numbers of attacks by rebel forces... I don't even know how they manage to maintain this strong of a presence and yet care so little about being attacked and wiped out in battle after battle." The pair stand there for a minute. "We should get some sleep, Lavasky should be able to hold down the fort for now. We can worry about all this when our heads are cleared up." "Right... Sybil, lock the log records of this conversation under my authorization if you would, and you keep quite about all this as well for now."

The pair close the open files and leave the room.

Lots of talking, not much action, but it reflects my view of the story line kind of. This isn't really "Vega Conflict" since most of the actual war is one sided. Vega doesn't actively fight us and neither do we actually see ISC actually squaring off against Vega. It's all posturing and radio traffic. If Vega were actually picking on people, if the alliances were actually large enough to own planets and it was possible to drive Vega out only for them to come back in force later, then it would at least feel like there was a war, the vega was invading our planets and taking our people, slaughtering innocents and just generally being a ****. Honestly, it has gotten to the point where Vega is an unnessicary part of VEGA conflict and that makes me feel like the game has become almost pointless to get invovled in. There is no more story, we are not part of it, that's just stuff happening in some sector far away.
