I think whatever they do it needs to be done immediately in order to retain many players after January 1st
I think a lot of players will use the Christmas period to look at other games if the feelings expressed don't get driven home and Kixeye won't be having a happy new year.
I think whatever they do it needs to be done immediately in order to retain many players after January 1st
Unfortunately this is only a state of the game post. That only tells us what they are thinking of doing. The catch is "Thinking" and "Doing" are 2 different things. The WIP is the doing part and there is nothing in there to indicate that they are even working on build and repair times.
Reality is; the state of game post should have come out within 2 - 4 weeks of their chat with BV and now with 2 months gone, there should be something in the WIP to indicate that they are actually working on the problems. The way it is now ( with nothing in the WIP to indicate they are actually working on the problems) it looks like by the 1st of Jan all they would have done in the 3 month timeframe is some thinking but nothing to show for it.
{Maybe they have progressed from the thinking stage to the doing stage but as there is nothing to indicate this in the WIP because they are always so secretive about everything, who really knows what (if anything), Kixeye is doing to address the problems}.
Well yes it would be the easy way to go, simple and fast.
Why doesnt kix do it simple ?

In order to give us a reduction in cost, they need to find a way to replace the money lost by created a way for players to play in money or time to get that reductions. Why VXP was created adn why tokens were created and why Rogue crew were made more expansive. You want to reduce your repair times (Grease Monkey crew or vxp specialist) or you builds/research(token), you ahve to work or pay for it. That at the center of everything they do, hence why everyhting they come up with is complicated that way, since they cant give us A without creating a B feature. Exec wont approve it otherwise.
is it so hard for everyone to see?
simple business practice. yes you loose $$ when you first drop the price. however the price drop causes a influx in sells bringing in more $$$ in the long run. why do you think business around the world have been doing sells and competing with prices for as long as they have?
now i do understand when you make over $52,000.00 in a single month that the thought of changing things so you make less in your eyes is scary. but at half cost double the players could afford to coin making it even out in the long run.
yes they do make over $52,000.00 a month. sad but true
I give up - It's not worth it. I hope they don't change a **** thing.

Love a good handjob! All you get from kixeye these days. This is crap known by players for years. Seems a bit late since most have moved on to better games. 3 months pretty close to being up. What kind of grade do you think you should get kixeye? My guess F as always. Maybe try and sell game to someone that seems interested in keeping players and finding new ways to bring in new players. Instead of multi accounts.
Guess I will weigh in with my two cents worth. I read and reread the missive. Seems we have been hearing a lot of this type stuff for years and it just never happens. There is just 1 problem in this game and fixing that one problem will make all these other items go away . The one problem is repair time. I got myself and my son a 25 dollar f/b game card during the recent vxp weekend to help us rank our ships. Since I live in Canada I only got 175 coins for my 25 dollars. With the v2c's kodiaks and hellstrikes we were ranking the 175 coins lasted about half an hour . So if I wanted to spend 2 hours playing it would had cost me 100 dollars each. All fleets should take no more than 15 minutes to repair. People in thier right mind are not gonna spend that kind of money every week to play a game. Lets get real . If you had a 15 minute cap on repairs this game would be going crazy with activity and nobody gonna be worring about build times. If you want the advantage you pay for your time to build. Take a good look at your data!!! compare how much time people are playing to how much time they spend repairing fleets. With most fleets taking over 12 hours to repair I can assure you the average joe is not coming on to play because most of the time he is coming on to check repairs for the week long duration they take after just a couple hours of game play. I understand your reluctance to make such a big change , loss in revenue being your biggest fear , but I guarantee you if you did within six months you would see your revenue going up and up as more players start playing and stay because they can play and not just spend time waiting for repairs because they are not willing to spend the crazy amount of coin that repair of a decent fleet cost. This one fix would solve so many other annoying problems that come to light because people cant play. If you cant get this repair thing fixed and fast then dont worry about the rest of it as you are just wasting your's and our time. We just want to be able to use the ships we spent months building and not have to spends days waiting for them to repair. Personally as far as I see it there is a very small percentage that actually pay for repairs any more as you have just priced it out of the average players range. If repairs were capped at 15 minutes for a fleet the problem with high levels hitting low levels for alliance points would take care of itself as well. The reason they hit low levels is to keep the repair time down.
No changes by Dec 31st i am out, been a somewhat fun 4 years Kix.
i will prolly do this next raid but no straight up repair reduc and forget all ur baloney new coding attempts and delay tactics it will be the last raid i coin , 1/2 cut all repairs in 1/2 easy to do stop jakkin us or we ll all be gone soon kixeye

dude... they make way more than $52,000/month. That is only $500K/year you could only have 2-3 employees plus pay for office plus all the money that goes into hosting a game for that. They likely make 10-20x that/month to support 20-40 employees
But I agree with your point on having a sale. What a sale should be is 1/2 repairs and 1/2 build times permanently. People would play and coin. Instead Kix thinks a a sale is offering gold at 20% off for a day

Another SMOKE SCREEN. This message should of been posted months back, when they said give us 3 months. Now 3 months are here and they come with this message. All ive seen is some armor that really does nothing for us and a lot of words! and 30 day build times on the new hulls.
Dang I actually like this lead designer. Sounds like well thought out plans and multiple approaches to achieving a better game. That is what any good design strives for, better game play. With better game play and more accessible game play I personally think this will be more profitable for the company than trying to squeeze the mega coiner. By making tech more usable and accessible will give us the incentive to spend. Or at least me anyway. I've resisted spending for a long time do to the out of balance game play. This game use to be about skill and I hope one day to see the balance of quality game play return. Then we can separate the pirates from the swabbies.

All I can say is the proof is in the puddin. Until we see what the new build times are it is to early to pan them, but given Kixeye's history its hard to get excited. I hope they realize that this is basically their last chance. That there has to be a significant reduction. That they need to avoid the infamous Kixeye carch that they always try to include. That whatever it is it needs to be implemented post haste. That a coming soon announcement in the January WIP won't cut it. I may keep my fingers crossed but definitely won't hold my breath. Blue doesn't look good on me.

Perhaps it would help everyone's attitude to think of this game as an AUCTION. We have to stop complaining about repair times and build times as if the auctioneer (Kixeye) is being "greedy" and doesn't care about customers. It is not Kixeye that is "bidding up" the price of what we buy.
Yes, there *are* a few things that can be done to restore balance without unduly hurting revenues. But don't expect the president of the auction house to tell their auctioneers to cut off bidding to keep prices from being so high. Just think about what you're asking. (smile)

Yes you can think of it as an Auction, and at Auctions Seller's can set a reserve price. Reserves are tricky things though. Set to high then no one bids, the item does not sell and the Seller goes home with Empty pockets. Kixeyes problem is that they have set the "Reserve" price to hi for many players. This has resulted in the drastic reduction of players in the last year. That needs to change for the game to have any real future
I am not going to coin the Dec raid for 2 reasons: 1) i seriously doubt they will implement any of the changes by then 2) i seriously believe this game is going to die (from lack of players by mid Spring).
to address the leads statement that illegitimate fleets are now prevented from being used, (and I realise this is not in lines with forum rules but would like a response), can I please get an answer to this? How is this still possible if the servers & game code no longer accept this?

I like the idea of getting more for hitting a base then what we get now. But I dont know how many "dead" bases Ive hit, wasting a lot of my time trying to find a "live" base. Would like to see us getting something for those dead bases and the time spent hitting them

Just a question regarding the real intent of the OP. Is this time buying or are we really going to see action and not empty promises in Dec January?
Because if part of the statement is not true, then it brings question to the intent of the remaining part.
