Company with a dwindling playerbase deletes old forums that demonstrate that if they screw up enough yes, people do in fact give up on them and leave. Maybe a lesson to all the complainers (AKA everyone) on the WC forums?

They wouldn't have a dwindling playerbase if they paid some **** attention.
Honestly, how KIXEYE is actually still here is a surprise to me considering how unconcerned they are with us lot.

Proud to have once journeyed with my fellow F.O.F Members. Mistakes were made, but memories and bonds were forged.

what language are you using? i develop with Java because its great for using external APIs and it provides a big library for GUI development.

The GameMaker Engine. As my understanding goes, it runs off the programming Language called Delphi.
I think its possible that it can be coded with different languages however.
Im not to sure in that regard, so Im doing a bit of research on that.

if you start coding, dont use an engine. start with a REAL and PURE programming language to understand the mechanism of the game development. just a little tip. ;)

I don't think you should develop something as big as BYM if you are the only active dev, not even mentioning the copyright issues.

We should try at least to talk to kixeye to lend the BYM IP to specific community members that want to remake the game, even if they will ignore us forever.
It would be a better decision than letting it die.

I'd **** love to see a non-browser and at the same time a non-flash version of BYM, so anyone could play it without having to own a super-computer in order to run it.

    Eclipse Mars from http://www.eclipse.org/
The Java Runtime Environment from http://www.java.com/en
And the Java Development Kit from: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html

These are all the things you need to develop with java.
watch YouTube Tutorials to learn the basics and the PURE game development and if you think you gained some experience you should try out pure LWJGL as an extension for your Java lib to code 2D or 3D games or you use the Slick2D lib to code 2D games.

Im using Slick2D because its way easier to use....... and way less math to do :D

no copyright issues because its just a clone. its not BYM its just BYM like. and its possible for one person. i found the Slick2D lib for me and its doing the most things for me. i just have to say what, where and how..... maybe writing some algorithm self coding here and there but it should be possible to code something like this in a about a year.

first of all i finish my other game: http://ralphs-games.weebly.com/table-war.html

the good thing about this is that i can copy big parts of the code for the BYM clone.

Does Java run of Flash or whatever? Or does it now have any dependency on it?

java is independant. your programs written with Java only need the JRE as an environment on the device. the good thing about Java is that one and the same code runs on every OS for PC. Android is another thing. more complicated and stuff.
to make it short. Java also hates flash.

    Please!

Since the game shut down, there's been no work for us.

The kids are going hungry, the roof needs patching.

Won't you find us some new work !?

...but seriously, creating a massively-multi-player game like BYM requires a LOT of resources. Its not just a little bit of coding. I suspect the amount of work is at least 20 or 50 times as much as you think it is, from where you are.

My advice would be to join an existing game company, or at least TOUR one, to get a more realistic feel of the task you are placing before yourself.

I don't want to ever discourage anyone from 'following a dream', but there has to be a realistic chance of success before I could recommend it.

It was so fun, had some concept ideas and stuff as well, made so many threads, probably 3k of my posts are BYM. But gone? nooooo
