Calling all fleet commanders!
It’s competition time! So, now that you know how starting formations work, its time to get creative. We want you the VEGA Conflict community to come up with designs for starting formations. The best layouts will be added to the game after the feature launches, so here is your opportunity to get your design into VEGA Conflict!
The following format must be used when submitting formation ideas:
Name: A creative name for identifying the formation (one or two words)
Description: A very brief description of the formation, it's function, or its use
Formation: an image of the fleets six ships starting positions. The formation layout should fit within the image provided below and the position icons (circles) should be about the size shown in the images in this post. Optionally, you can include the slot position numbers on each circle.
Explanation: An optional explanation as to how and why you would want to use this formation, what sort of situations it is used for, etc…
Name: Convoy
Description: A standard military formation for long-range missions
Formation:
Explanation: A cool formation that can easily be split into two groups, I’d use two Dread Battleships as each groups lead ship with two Destiny Corvettes to support each. One group could be used as a decoy, while the second group flanks.
To get you started here are some ideas you should consider when designing your formations:
Practical - what formations do you currently do at the start of combat?
Creative - what other formations would you like to see or would you see as being useful?
Why is your formation useful and how would you use it?
Does your formation take advantage of different hull types?
Is it designed for a specific or general play style
Is it best for base combat, fleet combat, or both?
Competition will run from today until 4:00 PM Monday 8th of June PDT.
As with all our community competitions, KIXEYE reserves the right to change and/or modify any formation, name or description, etc... they choose when adding the winning entry to the game.
So this is it, your chance to get your fleet design added to VEGA Conflict. The team is eager to see what creative and useful formations you all come up with.
Description: A double 3-group formation which allows to easily depart cutter type fleets
Formation:
Explanation: Due to the use of Raptures with Net in order to get cutters in line formations off, the double group in a "V" allows the cutters on the sides to distract the NETS being fired.
An attack formation for Battleships (3-6) with Cruiser escorts (1-2)
The Cruisers attack head on and distract the enemy while the battleships flank around, catching the enemy off-guard and shocking them when your Battleships penetrate their defences
Designed for those trying to maximize weaponry on the Battleships without equipping all that heavy armour
Description: A normal PvP formation which allows 3 heavy ships in the front so the other 3 are covered from incoming damage.
Formation:
Explanation: Revelation or apoc based fleets, especially thermal ones, would aply to this formation when facing same type fleets.
Description: A strong Decoy with heavy ships to fire behind. Perfect for farming typed fleets.
Formation:
Explanation: A decoy, such as any type of cruiser, would tank incoming damage from VEGA cago ships, allowing the abttleships behind to destroy them without being shot, economizing the incoming damage to the Battleships and normally using an instant repair config on the heavy ship.
Description: A versatile formation used to separate flagships from support vessels.
Formation:
Explanation: A setup with many uses. This type of formation is already very commonly used against VEGA Fleets, with a Revelation/Apoc/Fury/Dread in the lead slot to soak up the damage, and Venoms dishing out the damage from the back 5 slots:
The formation can also be used with a carrier fleet (or any fleet with a single significantly stronger/more durable lead ship), allowing a player to quickly separate his flagship, in the lead slot, from the rest of his fleet. Additionally, as 5-ship fleet builds are very common with heavier hulls like Apocs, Raptures, and Komodos, this formation will allow a player to enter a battle with his 5-ship fleet lined up better than it would be in the "Line" formation, by simply leaving the lead slot empty.
Description: 2 decoys in front of 4 high damage deaing ships, perfect for preset sniper fleets.
Formation:
Explanation: 2 Decoys, such as Rapture/Apocrypha/Revelation/Condor, act as a shield for the incoming fire from enemy turrets, placed on the 2 frontal positions, the sniper ships, with siege driver preferently, would be located in the 4 positions behind them, their objective is to use the decoys to act as a moving target and to allow snipers to destroy defenses without being focused by enemy fire.
Name: Blitzkrieg
Description: Ideal formation for hitting a base whit cruisers.
Formation: Two by two
Name: The Trap
Description: Great for luring VEGA cargo and elites specially on autos. Ship 1 will be a fast and sacrificial lamb with instant rep. ship 2 - 5 will be the killer ships.

Name: The Meatgrinder
Description: A flanking formation designed to encircle and destroy attackers
Formation:
Explanation: This formation can easily flank enemy fleets and may also split into two groups of two support and one close range each. I’d use four battleships in positions 1-4 and place 2 fast cruisers or cutters in slots 5 and 6. The battleships provide cover as the faster ships charge.
I know we don't have votes but I would submit this one as well then
Name: Bastion.
Description: An unique formation with great ability to cover multiple flanks.
Formation:
Explanation: When i first thought about this formation i had in mind something that i could use to counter enemies that split their forces and sneak behind my front line ships to get an easy kill on my carrier and a defensive formation like this seems to be a good option, some people i know would call it "The Turtle".
But it does not only serves this purpose though, alternatively this can be used for offensive as well by putting highly armored Cruisers at the front while other ships in the back deal damage (a carrier on the far back would be highly recommended).
What i like most about this formation is its flexibility and versatility, a lot of other formations can be quickly put together while giving the player multiple choices for ship grouping depending on the situation which would work very well with many fleet setups (I think this formation would also perform better for auto farming). If it wasn't enough, i think it would be totally cool to see a big powerful Carrier escorted by even more powerful Cruisers or Battleships right from the beginning of the battle, who knows, maybe it can make some people feel intimidated.
please please please put this in - there's 100s of good reasons to add this one
I'd be happy to name off at least 10
The Dragon's Teeth Formation

Fig. 2.
Fig. 3.
---
The Dragon's Teeth Formation is designed for maximum protection between each unit within the group. (Fig. 1.)
During battle, any units in the front row will take most of the damage, while the rear row take no or very little damage. Most players know it's important to prolong their damaged units to continue opening fire onto the enemy forces until itself gets destroyed. With this formation, the forces in the rear (slot 4,5 & 6) would be able to push forward, or 'switch' with the front row (slot 1, 2 & 3) to takes cover the damaged units. (Fig. 2.)
Another benefit with this formation, is the extra protection it may offer and prolong a unit of the whole fleet... Imagine that the unit in slot 2 is on the verge of destruction, where the enemy players tries to focus all the firepower onto weak unit to destroy it. The player that uses the Dragon's Teeth formation is able to close the gap or 'jawlock' and block any incoming fire to protect the heavily damaged unit. (Fig. 3.)
This formation is for general gameplay style that uses fast moving and turning units, mainly for Cruisers and frigates combat, which uses all three Fig (1, 2 & 3) setup. However, it may work with destroyers where they sit at the back, while protected by cruisers or frigates in the front, which only uses Fig 1 & 3 setups.
Thank you for spending the time to read my submission of the Dragon's Teeth formation.
All the best,

THE BIG DADDY'S FORMATION
---
[Before I begin to communicate this formation, please note that this isn't my main submission... It's simply another idea and a technique that I employ when attacking enemy bases. My main submission is the 'Dragons Teeth' formation that I have posted earlier on]
Let me present to you, the Big Daddy's Formation.
Slot 1 & 2 is designed for decoy or/and tanked units... i) Decoy units could be Hawks or Eagles units, ii) Tanked units like Apoc/Rapture with max armor and shields.
Slot 3, 4 & 5 is reserved for destroyer class units like Broadswords, Scythes, Lancers units, etc.
Slot 6 is reserved for flagships like the carrier.
The idea for Big Daddy formation
Most of the destroyers unit in the Vega Conflict universe are slow and can consume some important time when moving into position to attack an enemy's base. Basically, the idea for this formation is to use the carrier at the rear to 'nudge' forward the three destroyer in front until they are into attacking positions. Afterwards, the carrier will detach from the main group and make a separate attack to draw the enemies firepower away from the main destroyers group and act as another decoy during the attack. This 'nudge' from the carrier will gain some extra time for the destroyers to produce more damage to any enemies defenses and buildings.
Thank you for spending the time to read the Big Daddy's formation.

THE SPEAR PUNCH FORMATION
---
[Before I begin to communicate this formation, please note that this isn't my main submission... It's simply another idea and a technique that I employ when attacking enemy bases. My main submission is the 'Dragons Teeth' formation that I have posted earlier on]
I would like to showcase the Spear Punch formation.
Slot 1 & 2 is reserved for heavy tanked units... Tanked units like cruisers with max armor/shields with little weapon damage.
Slot 3 to 6 is reserved low/mid armor units like cutters, cruisers, frigates with high weapon damage.
The idea for Spear Punch formation
Slot 1 & 2 is designed to take most of the damage from the enemy fleet using max armor/shields, while slot 3 to 6 built with high level weapon damage to punch though the enemies armor and shields until the point where the unit gets destroyed! This formation may be used for attacking bases too.
Thank you for spending the time to read the Spear Punch formation.
All the best,
Addz
The horizontal line is the more used in Hit n Run tactics, also for attack bases with cusiers, but it can became easyly in a fire line of battleships with a decoy or in a destroyer line with 2 decoys.
Is a must have.
Name: ForestCantRun
Description: A formation for cutters.
Formation:
Explanation: A pvp formation designed for cutters or other fast ships with close range weapons (thermal beam, disruptor ray etc.). The point is to get as fast as posible closer to enemy, but sometimes that cant be easy if your enemy use net torpedos, so you need to move diagonally, avoiding net torpedos, but in the same time you get closer to your enemy and burn him.
The Scoop
The Destroyers Take out Bases whilst the 2 escort apocs takes the flak from the base, they Scoop up all the incoming fire! This formation could also escort carrier fleets and be combat ready......Used for both PvP Or Base Destroying!
Name: Time Window
Description: A formation allowing battleships to get into position before the combat starts. //very good for farming Vega
Formation:
Name: Flagship Support
Description: A formation protecting your flagship.
Formation:Adaptible and versatile fleet formation that can be used with any ship type and can include a flagship.
