Base Asteroids don't last forever?

I just started the game yesterday. 

Just curious, i noticed that base asteroids that you harvest with miners have finite number of resources. They don't last forever? Are those asteroids just suppose to be early finite income for beginners and later on, you must hit VEGA cargo fleets as main source of income for resources?

Depends on the size usually a week for me, but lately they're don't seem to last so long. I would like them closer to the base so I don't have to rearrange the base layout to so the mines production and continue on.

There will always be asteroids around your base,the higher level miners you have the longer the asteroids will last.

Once depleted you dispose of them and move your RG's over to another asteroid.  New ones spawn and I think they decay(not sure).   

I dont see how ugraded miners would make asteroids last longer?? You are sucking more res out of them faster than lower miners.    Unless your miners influence how much res new asteroids spawn with?? 

But yeah you can make alot more res from actively hunting cargo.    RG's are basically a lifeline  in case your base gets wrecked repeatedly and your ships get smashed you can always squeeze a little res out of the rocks for repairs.

The resource gatherers do influence how much resources the asteroids spawn with. I had all level 3 resource gatherers and the asteroids spawned with 1 million resorces, when i upgraded some of them, the 2 million asteroids started popping up. Then when i upgraded them all to level 4, there were only asteroids with 2 million resources.
