Im relatively new.  Didnt get to play with vega's before june 2013 patch so they are harder now.  Just gonna give my observations on them for people just breaking into exodus cruisers/talons as I try to tackle these beasts...

My Current Exo fleet that I use for killing planetary 27's is x3 exo w/ x2 torp1, x1 gauss2, strafe3.  My Talon fleet is x3 w/ x2 torp1, strafe3

The crappy frigate uses lasers and is semi fast and tough like an exodus cruiser from a 25/27.  The nightmare frigate is the problem.. that little **** is fast and uses scatter.  He has no problem catching up to you if you use strafe3.   The exo with strafe3 are to slow to evade the scatter missles even if you have them angled away 110-130 degree's.   Talon can out strafe the scatter barely with strafe3 but they have to worry about the crappy frigate and the cruiser closing to laser range.

The cruiser is pretty fast also.  Its pretty difficult with strafe3 to evade the two frigates and cruiser.   I wouldnt even attempt this with only 3 exo.  I doubt 4 is enough enough so just wait until you have you a lv7 shipbay and can wield x6 fleets.

Talon on the other hand...if you have 4 Talon you might be able to win if you are smart with target selection.  Go for the crappy frigate first, he can get inside your torp range and light you up with lasers first.   After the Crappy frigate is dead switch to the cruiser.  He should also be able to get inside your torp range but hopefully you have time...

While your taking those two ships out you will be strafing for your life to evade all the scatter from the nightmare frigate.  As scary as he is he does not get inside your torp range and he cant really hit the talons so save him for last of the 3 blitzers.

After that it should be cake to wipe out the battleships and kill the desotryers.

30s have around 550k res in them including anti matter.  AM fleets planet side are MUCH easier.

Possable ways to make this easier that I see is dont bother until strafe4 or wait until you can wield x6 ships at once(lv7 shipbay)

Was thinking of adding a 4th exo but now that I think about it maybe a 4th Talon is the better way to go.

that "crappy frigate" is a cruiser. also, it was only the level 40 sector vega fleets that got harder.

OK thanx for the correction!   Meant to mouse over it to see its field of fire which would give away what kinda ship it was but havent done it yet.   Even if the lower vega's have not changed im still a newb to them and this should be helpful to other newbs just getting into vega's for the first time.

Dont know how reliable this will be yet since I've only done it once but x4 Talon w/ x2 torp1, strafe3 were able to pop that 30 with no damage.   Then I tried a 33 and got slaughtered but I was busy trying to take pictures and was slow to set formation hehehe.   slow and vega's do not mix well.

Anyways for the 30 I did what I said I was gonna do... I hit the little cruiser first, then targeted the bigger cruiser, the dealt with frigate last, then crushed the rest.   *pro tip* Don't right click to primary a target unless you see the red box.   That was another huge mistake I made in the 3, accidentily strafed towards the oncoming blitz ships lol.

Tried a 33 again, had time to set up... got smashed....   was bummed but was gonna start killing 30's left and right so tried another one of those.....got smashed....

Don't know how you can get 0% damage one battle and 100% the next and not have lag or messed up button clicks to blame but I had none of that...   Did it just like the first time...  So forget what I said....

don't use strafe on your talons, you'd want rear thrusters. when the ships are almost in range of firing at you, turn your talons around and run till you get a good distance to start firing again, and repeat the same process. (that frigate will be able to catch up to you, but you can strafe the scatters easily taking minimum damage until you destroy it)

Drifting drops more panties than Drag Racing....  I know what your saying though.  I guess I have to adapt but im stubborn.   I enjoy trying to make things work that are not popular.

I got lots of free time coming up to build ships while I wait for new gear... Maybe I will try **** thrusters.   My main motivation would just to be able to open vega for others lol.   I do fine with planetary cargo.

The biggest problem is 50min repairs everytime I mess one up.  Makes it hard to learn and try different things!

After a bit of planetary hunting decided to try 30's again.    Same deal... x4 talon w/ x2 torp, strafe3.......

This time my plan was to try and run away at the start to try and space the ships out more..   This turned out to be really effective....   If you get the frigate and two cruisers to chase you for awhile they form up into a line.   Then when you finaly stop and form up and start strafing away the frigate should be in the lead, small cruiser behind him, fat cruiser last...     Your guys should hit the first two ships at same time and kill 2 for 1.  If the frigate is stile alive when the small cruiser dies make sure to primary the fat cruiser and ignore frigate.  After that it is cake!!

Couple of words of advice.... If you run to far  the frig will be on you and it will be hard setting up your angle and line.  If you do not run far enough then the ships wont form up into a line.  And lastly you better learn and practice how to adjust your formation/line mid strafe because its pretty mandatory for these vega..  Head over the player guides and check out my sticky if you wanna learn how to do it.

I was able to hit x3 vega 30's with my 4 talon and only dropped to 96% damage?  2m30s repair time.    One time I ran to far and didnt have time to set up heh..   After hitting x3 30's and having to chase them down and be exposed out in sector it wasnt really worth it.   I fill up faster on 27's right outside my base.    Im going to try higher level vega though.   If I can use same ships for higher levels then it might start being worth it.  35-37 is like 1 mil res ??

This running away method would probably be a hell of a lot easier with **** thrusters but not doing that yet...

Screw it!!   If you got 4 Talon you can do 37's!!!  No need to mess with small crap.
