Ok, everyone should know by now that the Vega ships now have added thrusters. This changes the way to hit 30+ Vega cargo. Some people have figured out how to take these down again with little or no damage. If you know how and what to use, please share here. I have an idea that uses cruisers, yet I am unable to try it out as I am unable to refit ships at this time. So please, any input will help the rest of us continue to enjoy the game.

Hitting bases is good idea, however what happens when bases no longer hold resources because they havnt figured out **** a vega fleet? It is ok that they made the large vega fleets more difficult, but figuring out how to hit them again is taking even more resources than mines can produce, that is why I started this thread. So please, need advise to kill vegas?

Then you keep hittng them anyway so they can't think about getting up, and end up leaving.  Your farming.. that means you have to get rid of the rot apples.  If they don't have any money, its because they are a rotten apple.  Get rid of the rotten apples.

I've noticed in some VEGA fleets that they will pursue and fire upon only one ship (except in the case the battleships which will happily pursue the weak ship AND fire on your fleets if you happen into their range).  Once I figured that trick out, I could literally have a harrier fly around a core of Exodus Cruisers which gradually whittled away everything in the VEGA until they were all dead.  All that said, some ships might also fire on yours if there's enough distance between them and the weakest ship in your fleet.  I haven't exhaustedly tested my theory on this yet, but I figure I could share and have other people test it out too (just like in SCIENCE).

I would say you have figured it out, as I am trying to use that advantage to get behind the ships. This works well with beam laser on Harriers. Takes a lot of practice though.

Yeah.  Once I get more time, I think I will try SCIENCEing VEGA fleets to death (either mine or their).  More data is welcome though!  Do you know any good ways of recording a battle in VC besides rigging a video camera on my shoulder?

And where exactly do you think players get the res that they keep in their bases?

Oh I forgot, the millions and millions of res I need for upgrades, research and builds will all come from crappy little planet cargos or crappy little miners, either mine or theirs.  Yes I'm sure it will.

Sure I could fly around all day hitting base after base and filling my fleet up to 500% gradually through miners and low stocked storages, unless I get lucky and someone has actually kept plenty of res that's fairly easy to get to, hoping I'm never seen so as not to be relentlessly attacked by swarms of harrier spammers trying to make sure I go home with nothing, which is too often the case.

Too many people, including those at Kixeye themselves, seem to be forgetting that a certain amount of easy res farming is a necessary evil in order to make base hitting viable.

Otherwise we should all just sit back and let miners gather everything we need.

Back to the point of the thread.  If you build an ex fleet with beam lasers and level 4 shields you can run them away from the vega to string out the ships and then turn and kill them one at a time.  I can take a 40 down with about 30 min repair.  Provided you have good cargo fleets on hand the return ratio is pretty good.

I have learned my own way to do 40's VEGAS, but it requires 2 Fleets for Sacrifice and 1 for clearing.
    1st and 2nd fleet:

    6x Genesis Cruiser
    Equiped with:
    2x Beam Laser II
    2x Tritanium I
    Spectral Shield III
    Rear Thruster I

When the battle starts, bunch up all the Genesis, rush them and target 1 of the Vega Cruiser(the fast one with Beam Laser)
It ALWAYS kill at least 1 of those ships, so 2 Fleets of Genesis will destroy 2 of the fast ships leaving 1.

    Third fleet, for clearing.
    6x Harrier Frigate
    Equipped with:
    2x Gauss Gun I
    Spectral Shield II
    Plasteel II

Just use the old way of killing Vegas, if done right it will kill the last one fast ship leaving the 3 Battleships at your mercy, for now it will be just time consuming.

This tactic takes a bit more than 10 minutes, but it indeed worth the 2M resources.

All ships involved is instantly repair-able under 5 mins.

    Hope this helps :)>-

I figured out the key to hitting the larger Vegas, and the only thing to know is that the vega ships will follow the weakest (or most damaged) ship, ignoring your other ships that are dancing around behind them. Thats it, they follow weakest ship.

Edit: Just found that someone has video showing detail of new tactics lol
