2 x Railguns 3 has the same DPS as the Plasma Battery for only 10 more tons of weight. Difference is that Railguns have no spread. So they are better for cargos.

I have both fleets and for some reason the plasma battery are a lot better in terms of time. they kill faster. i dont know why. but they do.

i think the plasma kill faster because of the explosive aoe,  every hit does damage to a couple target at a time

edit: i just tried a couple vega's and it works great, better for me than my rails harriers

I would guess the Cargo fleet has more Kinetic damage resistance as apposed to Explosive

The Vega ships has Deflector Shields, just look carefully at them and you will see some purple thing around them.
