Should I just load up all 8 platforms with polarons??

I don't see why not.. gauss doesn't hit the rancors anyway. Lasers don't help. Not sure how plasma charger would perform. I imagine it would miss as well, considering a polaron comes close to missing at certain times.

lolz gauss aren't for rancors. they are for lonbows. i will just load 2 longbows with plas torps n have 4 cargo rancrs. sure i might get less res but then i just kicked ur bases ****.

Why aren't polarons for longbows? if they can't dodge gauss they sure aren't going to dodge polarons

with 4 gauss and 4 polaron, 1 rancor with torps tore 90% of my base apart. the last rancor only had 1 gauss and the polaron on my outpost to deal with

here's my base, need to know what needs to change

First Thought,   Why are you mining resources,  I get mine from hitting stuff.

IMO, they are better off being shields

Don't protect your labs or ship buildings. Instead place tons of your gear outside the tower ring to give attacking ships something to fire at that doesn't defend you. It wastes their time and shots while you shoot at them. Also, it allows your towers to be closer together.

Build absolutely every building you can (maybe not all the storages) and use them as meat shields to protect your base. Also, you get good quantities of spare res from RGs if no one hits you.

1.Longbows with torps outrange polarons and also dodge gauss with strafing thursters.
2. Rancors evade gauss and can evade polarons.
3.No base is safe until Base torpedos.
4.Dont protect anything except OP and storages ( Dont protect Anti matter becuz u dont need it for lvl <25 )

I done some minor testing and found hitting an anti matter storage in fact gives you a cut of reso and a cut of antimatter. I tested this. So scarficing antimatter storages will still get you robbed of reso.

Cant recall the %age it cuts the reso, but i know it contains all 4 types.

I should also add that maybe it was a reso storage getting hit and it gave a cut of anti matter. Cant remember which way around it was lol

Not sure how much help this is, I am only lvl 16... As you can see from this venn diagram of doom I put my long range lvl2 gauss cannons on the perimeter and the short range lazers in the middle... Ultimately plasma torps and heavy polaron beam is probably the best combo as plasma torps are slow, but have good range (against longbows and broadswords) Whereas Polaron beams are superfast but only moderate range (against rancors, venom and Exodus cruisers...) Just select one of the defense platforms like your moving it and then take a screen shot...

Sadly, Rancors with Railguns would decimate this quickly. They only have to stay at max range to hit lasers without being tagged back. But Gauss can be taken with a closer drive. So Rancors would just sail circles around this blowing down Gauss and eventually the lasers.

I highly recommend putting a Polaron on your outpost and getting a couple Polaron towers (especially when you have 8 towers).

I've found that polarons don't start showing up in people's bases until around level 18-19. I didn't have mine researched and installed until a bit later than that. A mix of gauss and lasers is good at level 16, because level 20 is just about when someone starts having rancors.

Ok, your base + my rush fleet = 100% flat. Railguns are garbage cause they can be outran easily. Polaron beams are no good because they have low damage. My base setup is 4 of the first base lasers at lvl 5 with 4 plasma charger 3's. I'm a lvl 28 and so far, haven't been flattened yet. In my opinion, you need to change out your turrets for some higher dps stuff. I'm going with this setup until I get the highest lvl base weapons unlocked. also, upgrading your turrets high enough to were you can put shields on them really helps.

Niiice, you can beat a 2 month old base that is pure polarons ans gauss. ^.^

if you have not been flattened yet what sector are you in? A carebear sector?

Well, been flattened now. xD lvl 32 came by with venoms and got me. Took out half his fleet though. And yes zys, next time will check the date. I'm in sector 300. Was farming planetary, then got bored and started hitting out of sector.

See that big space in the middle of your ven diagram.  That is where people will park their ships.  They may lose one or two, but you turrets will shut down once they are inside.  I use that strategy on tons of mass driver/plasma torp bases at higher levels.
