It should have a ring around it that no one can attack in. It would clear up spawn camping, and after the fleets are out of the ring the stop for 10 sec for a small chance to counter the fleets.
I like this feature. More people to hit. More farms to farm.

I believe it will be a mesh of the first two bullets. However, the system is still being finalized so it is currently a work in progress and may change.
If were talking near instant travel times then protection is not that big of a deal. A few seconds coming out would be fine.
and u can only use the feature like once every 12 hours like merc fleets n in our base we have a timer maybe say in officer lab or something or on the outpost or up next to merc n gift box
That would not work for me as I always send escort ships ahead of my base fleet other wise a SW or sub fleet hidden under a base would easily kill my base fleet.
well, right now, I have been known to drive 3-4 hours with my fleet ending up under a drac base so when I get back on I can hunt for a target.. Yes, I would use the navigation relay if it existed, but I don't really need it to continue doing what I do. and as a person often refered to as a "sector police" by insects, I would not sit at a relay station just to catch those coming in.. I prefer to play rather than just sit and stare at something all day. But I can see the advantage to having folk be safe as they exit the relay for a few seconds.
Maybe you could do it Like you Go in The navigation thing a Window Will pop up, kind of Like buying credits, and a little timer will appear in this window, 30 sec where u can't be hit, and then you will have to wait 1 minute before u can travel at this navigation thing again? That would make camping impossible and would give people protection while selecting sector? Just an idea...

So is this a ship telaporter? So your ship will be beamed to the next relay or will your ship stay at the relay and a copy of it come out the other side?

The relays should have a tiny radius that lends invulnerability for stale ships.
That way, spawn camping would be impossible but people may use it for protection.
So we could have a countdown on vulnerability for the stale ships present there,
this would make players more attentive to their ships.
Bad idea. UNLESS your alliance has to somehow have control of a nav array to use it. Maybe result in FvF?
also dead fleets should NOT use nav array to come back. Make there be a very real cost to going really far away to fail. Otherwise jerkoffs will be sending fleets on dock rocket and rimmer missions just to grief.

I do like the protection idea for a limited time, I suppose that's fair. I wonder though, if I am 50 sectors away and my fleet dies, do I have to wait 30 hours for it to snail-drive home? Or will I warp automatically? has thought been given to this?
overall I remain skeptical, you guys will implement it as you choose, and I will choose whether I will use it or go right on doing things as I have always done... I guess I'm saying make sure it's still an attractive feature once it's there.

Honestly, it will be a useful feature but I do not see the relay getting enough traffic to make spawn camping worth while. Most players are territorial and hit in sector or 1 sector over and I don't see the relay changing this much. If people did start camping, others would just send FvF fleets through and that could be fun as well.
i think it should be similar to attacking a base, safe to enter, but upon exiting fleets should "launch" out of the tower like launching from home base, if fleet remains it is vulnerable to attack, like launching from home base.
