Wow the whiners are finally getting their way..... Unbelievable.... Don't you think you should wait till the alliance system is implemented before a change like this? We have only been waiting for months for that. I never get bubbled myself and half the time when i'm hit i don't get the 25% to even get that bubble but i feel that the bullys in the game need to be battled some way. They will just be able to keep people out of the game as long as they want this way and that is wrong. With the proposed alliance system at least their friends can try to protect their base and fight off the bullys. In the end i know all that matters is the players that spend lots of money but us light coiners are players too.....

I like this idea, in sector 434, there are a lot of players there that will hit bases in the adjacent sectors and then run home fast and get a buddy-bubble. Very cowardly behavior... no more 18 hour bubbles for them, I'm ok with an hour, gives me time to prepare a proper retaliation...

I made some edits that would address all of the important concerns raised.

    Proposed New Damage Protection Rules
Under the new system, there will be four different instances (two different situations) in which a player’s base would receive Damage Protection:
    • When a base has suffered 25% - 49% damage at the end of an attack, the base will receive 12 hours of Damage Protection.
    • When a base has suffered 50% - 74% damage at the end of an attack, the base will receive 24 hours of Damage Protection.
    • When a base has suffered 75% - 100% damage at the end of an attack, the base will receive 36 hours of Damage Protection.
    • When a base has been attacked 8 times in four hours (but suffered less than 25% damage), the base will receive 6 hours of Damage Protection.
For the last rule of Damage Protection, we feel it’s still necessary to allow players the one-hour of protection for those that are repeatedly getting their docks hit with rockets and/or snipers (SFB3). Also, if you attack another player’s fleets or base, the number of attacks made against you within the past four hours will be reset to zero and remove the bubble from your base (if already under Damage Protection) AND (if attack is on another player's fleet) base has less than 20% damage.

Also: For 50%+ damage bubbles, bubble timer does not start until player logs into the game.

really i like every part of this exept the fleet v fleet bubble pop. it should pop after your towers are repaired and you fleet v fleet not before. the way you have it you would keep many people from playing from 9 hours instead of 4 after a base hit.

Everything that is being suggested looks very promising, but I would be against losing your bubble if you attack another player’s fleets. For example if one of your fiends or alliance members is being attacked you will not come to his assistants in fear of losing your bubble without your defenses fully repaired. I think that all pirate members would agree with me, one thing we all miss is the big fleet vs. fleet battles that were a regular fixture of Battle Pirates and this will just degrade it even further.

People, will you quit whining about the "Lose my bubble if I attack a fleet part". Use your brains and think.

A base costs nothing to repair. Keep your res low and make sure to stash your fleets elsewheres and the only thing you will need it for is to start the repair on a fleet. These proposed updates do not keep you from playing, not in the least. Step outside your little comfort bubble a little. You smash my base.. oooooh.. hurt me ROTFLMAO.

I can get the res that you got from me back in 30 minutes by hitting Salvs. My fleets are not docked so taking out my dock is meaningless. Once you are thru either base hitting or FvFing THEN go hit repair. Go out, have fun at something away from the game then come back. Rinse and repeat.

Really not seeing what the big deal is and why people are whining like girls.

    That answer is simple.

With buying a bubble you put out between 10 and 280 coins depending on the length and go from 1 day to 28 days and at least that has a cooldown period. With "Frubbles" or friendly bubbling. 2 people can keep each other bubbled indefinately as long as they time it right.

This still allows them to go out and attack bases and all they have to do is renew it, which they often do simply by hiding under the base. How would you feel if I came to your base, raped you for 28 mill, did 100% to your base and put you down for 4 hours of gametime today. I was bubbled when you came for payback. I hit you again when your bubble is down and mine is back up when you come for payback.

GREAT JOB KIXEYE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. As for the sfb 3 and hitting docks. there is a way to be sfb3 safe on your docks, just lay out the tiles properly, then your sfb 3 safe with your dock.
so Kudos to Kixeye and hope this happens soon!!!!!!!

That won't change at all. People will still bubble each other. The part you are leaving out is that Kix hopes to gather some coins off of this change. It also opens it up to more bullying and again Kix hopes to gain coinage. Plain and simple.

    LOL

I'm a level 34. I level up when I level up. I get all I need from hitting bases and doing salvage as necessary every 4 days or so when a lab is about to click over and need something to do. If people are stupid and hoard resources then yes I will smack them at will and take my due. You have a LOT to learn yet Kapatain K, so the IDIOT hat goes to you.

And it's not leaving the fleets out to get hit. Learn to read Kaptain K. They are UNDER bases. Have not been hit yet. People have tried.

Bullies are going to be around regardless of what is done. It's a Wargame, honestly someone needs to explain how attacking in a wargame is bullying.

The thing that changes is now, you have to choose. You can stay all nice and safe and cozy in the bought or earned bubble or you can go out and enter combat and take that chance someone is going to come take on your base.

Why don't YOU wake up. Stop being a damned sheep already. I told you, time and again. It's simple. Move your fleets out of your base and put them under a Drac base or under a buddy's base. They won't get hit. Then the Dock becomes meaningless. Just play till they put you in the bubble and you get ready to stop. Then hit repair and go live life. Come back later. Rinse and repeat.

Not seeing the problem. It's a simple concept.

lol And what in there other than your OP takes more than 6-7 hours to repair? NOTHING.

    Turrets take 6-7 max
Warehouses take maybe 4? ( I forget but they are quick)

NO it does NOT mean that. What it means is with this.. for every attack you run that risk of reprisal.. as it should be. AND it means that people can no longer hide under a bubble and snipe fleets.

You are wrong on so many counts. An alliance with many members can simply freeze up a sector. Bullying alliances can hit bases and park fleets outside of a base and wait for the bubble to drop without fear of reprisal and should someone try to retaliate, their bubble would drop and the next alliance member would hit the retaliatory base. The game will stagnant simply because nobody will want to do anything anymore. Of course unless you want to coin away like a mad man.

You will end up with sectors full of one alliance only because everyone will need to join the most powerful alliance. Then what?

THIS is EXACTLY your problem rumseeker, YOU haven't been leveled for quite some time or your thinking would change in a hurry!!!

And I'm not FOR Buddy Bubbling, but I do believe all of the 34+ people on here don't give a **** about any body but themselves, YOU INCLUDED!

NOT ALL of the players have enormous fleets to just go out and take 33 salv fleets at will and then research or update whenever they "feel like it", such as yourself.

If YOU really want this game to progress, then YOU should start thinking of what would HELP the smaller people, rather than spit in their face at any chance you get!!

Actually it wouldn't. So what if they level me? I hold the same belief now as I did when I was level 18. It's only a click to repair. It costs nothing. You're under a bubble and in all but a few buildings everything is repaired inside of 6-7 hours. I look at the whole picture Kaptain. Yes it's going to cause some grief at first as people adapt but once they do, things will, or should, move along.

Enormous fleets? ROTFLMAO.. I take on a level 33 salvage with 2 ships in a fleet. 2 SW with SFB3 and missiles. Nothing hard or enormous about that.

And what I have been saying all along on this thread is basic tactics. Basic, common sense tactics.

It's not about the smaller people, it's not about the middle or even the larger people and the fact that you even put that into a post points out the problem right there. The system needs to be balanced for ALL playing levels and not cater to one.

I like the changes. Especially that if you attack a base your count goes back to zero. Stops two people from **** bubbling each other.

My only concern is that everyone in sectors 70 and 72 will quit playing the game. All they know how to do is **** bubble.

I cannot believe that glitcheye would even say that. alliances don't help a darn bit when you are being attacked because the alliance members cannot hit the attacking ship. and its not hard to find someone to avenge you in most sectors. alliances are just a good way to lump bullies by letters.

That is not totally true. I have had the honor of leading one of the largest alliances in the early days of BP and now currently co-lead a smaller alliance (with satellite alliances).

    Our alliances work this way:
We will attack anyone that hits a member of our alliance. We first leave it up to the member to retaliate on his own but should the attacker be of a larger alliance we will wage war. This always stimulates wars.
We do not attack anyone for the sake of attacking them. We don't attack small indy players for the hell of it. There is always an alliance with multiple members that we can attack. This creates a war atmosphere.
We don't hit insector because we are not out for the attention seeking like others seem to be. We don't care to hear the grief. That would be a form of attention seeking bull-ism. We will indeed hit anyone in a sector if that's the way the sector wishes to operate.

We will help to protect people from being attacked if they ask for aid. This also stimulates a war atmosphere from the attacker and friends.

Edit: Having said this, I have to disagree with the changes simply because there is no need to change them. If you can't figure out a way to attack someone who uses different tactics than you then you should retire.
To Rumseeker: I hear what you're saying but a game domineered by one alliance will mean the end of this game.

Amazingly enough that's where this concept appears to be headed.
