    The other statement I have about players 10 levels above me hitting me is, I cannot hit them if I wanted to, because I get the message that they are too high, but the problem remains, I am not too low for them to hit me. :crying:

    I am a lvl 29-41 myself. I have posted a few's time on here about this change already. So not only can we not effectively salv now to defend our bases/build fleets, research etc... we are now even more so farms because we can not hit back due to 5 lvls up? I have lost loads of bases I could hit before, cannot salv, and am a open farm. Great work again Kixeye

    My Xmas wish...Someone, other than money hungry Microsof...I mean Kixeye, obtain rights and implement a flash multiplayer version of Sid Mieir's "Pirates" game. Even have upgrades to hulls for carrying more cannon and be able to install different types of cannon. Now that would be great. Then there'd be a pirate game where tactics come into play due to the land based attack option and land fortifications would be a lot stronger than ship armors as it should be. Let's face it, fleets should have a hard time taking out a base. Only reason it makes sense that they do so well in BP is because you cannot attack by land.

    Dear Kixeye,

    Say what you will about your sincere desire to evolve, improve, and enhance player experience with your recent updates and upgrades. The reality is, you're not a non-for-profit organization and goal number one on your "sincere desires list" is to make money whichever way is legally possible.

    The recent upgrades and events are all geared towards "how to make players spend more money?" Your Co-Founder Paul Preece states that "We also want to reward skill and strategy and to that end player fleets that are well equipped and well controlled should take minimal damage"

    Dear Sir, a well equipped fleet means it costs more resources and time to repair than under-equipped fleet. Your fantastic skills will not prevent damage, if you have the same range missile as me, you will hit me.....no skill is required. I hope you still play the game?

    Who wants to hit a Salvage fleet and get a 20 minutes damage for 2 millions of resources? Making the salvage harder to hit, will make it harder for players to accumulate resources which will make base hitting useless and reward-less. Where is the fun in that? But it does frustrate players and make them resort to using the coins, at least the ones that have this kind of money. The ones that don't have the money will just have to sit there 20 to 30 minutes between salvage. Sorry I don't have that kind of time to waste either.

    Please review your strategy starting 5-7 events back, now we have more frequent events, much more difficult events, ships and hulls that take forever to build which makes it almost impossible without spending unrealistic amount of money for a game. The common idea in this is: Frustration leads to desperation, leads to using coins to win hulls that will take "months" in the distant future to build.

    I understand this is a business to you, Kixeye employees don't work for free and let's face it, you sincerely need to make a profit. The question is, how much profit is enough profit not to price-out a portion of your customers? I for one, have to start using my strategy, self-control, and my sincere desire not to be broke skills to find a way out of this game. At least, play it much less.

    Good work Sir, it was a good game!

    Lol another post by me.

    Why are we even having this topic? We are the players that "pay" for this game. Without us Kixeye would not exist. I still cannot believe that Kixeye will not readjust it back considering the poll is showing a hands down victory of like 95% to go back vs 5% (Probably the bigger lvl's or rich kids) who like the new system.

    Any company that goes against the desires of its consumers and is not a must, like insurance, but is based on the enjoyment and numbers of its players simply cannot ignore this. As I said before maybe Kixeye is thinking of dropping this game because it cannot fix the current glitches with it and wants to concentrate on its other games. This has not generated more coins but has probably reduced the income down to 10% what it was before this update.

    Cant just simply close the servers can they? To much money requested back. A more sound strategy would be to force players away until they can close BP due to insufficient funds/players.

    Why else would they continue to do something that has had such a negative impact/feedback from the players whilst maintaining we want it, its better for us, more fun, , more far, etc... when 95% of the players are going mad, quitting, protesting, asking for there money back, if not to sabotage themselves?

    Might as well have a vegetarian walk into say a Subway and order the veggie Sub only to be given a ham sandwich, then when the customer complains that they don't want it given there vegetarian to argue with said customer that they are wrong and they will enjoy the ham sandwich far more.

    This would not generate more money would it? In fact it would just force the customer to get a sandwich elsewhere. It is also ridiculous because the customer was already standing in this Subway ready to spend money and has probably already spent money with them before.

    How in the name of God would that work?

    (Update) Well my base has already been flattened. Was working on du4 plats but there is really no point now as I cannot effectively salv anymore, not point in spending hours salving/repairing only not to get enough and have it taken anyhow. Cannot do a dam thing now with dock down lol.

    I understand wanting to make the game more challenging but i worked hard and spent coin to be able to take on 25 and 29 cargo fleets with little to no problems . Now thanks to your modifications I'm back to ground zero and feel cheated out of the time and money I spent. You need to reduce the repear and research time to compensate for this oversite on your part. Other than that I like the game just not your updates.

    A friend told me and I entered the game and checked. Salvages have been toned back down a bit and subs are no longer obsolete. To me, and this is just my own opinion, salvages are okay now. Only problem remaining as far as I see is the disparity in who can hit who after reaching level 40. That system stinks. I mean I can be hit by a level 87 which would be +43 levels above me. Hmmmm, think the 87 might have a slight advantage? Maybe?

    Of course it is these high levels that are the only ones in full support of the new system because A. They have all sorts of drac hulls and equipment and B. They are likely the ones that always hit as far below their own level as they possibly can, which to me is just cowardly. I prefer hitting my own level or higher because I prefer a challenge, not a "Farm".

    For those having a hard time finding targets in their own level range, Kixeye may consider setting up a feature for viewing maps of any sector in the game and add a relocate feature that allows relocation to a sector in general instead of only where someone has a friend. Anyone disagree with this? Of course that would require work with no added coin return on Kixeye's part and if they were inclined to do that, they'd fix all the glitches which have never been addressed.

    Oh wait, but fixing glitches could bring more coin from those of us who won't pay for a glitchy game...After all, you buy a game in a store and if it has glitches, the manufacturer issues fixes or you return it for full refund.

    Kixeye,

    After playing this game for a little over a year now I have to honestly say you took a good thing and destroyed it. Flat out without any beating around the bush. When you updated the game with the new hulls etc you listened to the players then. Whats changed? You went to change the game again this time and your getting the same response. When will you learn that the long time players dont want to deal with the complete and utter BS that you guys are dishing out. You say the game works fine yet there are glitches and other issues. You have people who are hacking the game which says a lot about your server security. Also you posted a poll asking the players if we wanted the levels to change. The majority vote was no and yet you still implemented the change? You say you listen to the players etc but yet even have a poll was done you changed the game. In my opinion this makes you liars. And I cant stand liars. So here is what I am going to do. I am going to open my base for other players to get res and then i am going to take my money elsewhere since its obvious you dont care about the people that matter the most. Your players.

    they say it all when you go to submit a ticket , there is a suggestion box that you click you watch it crumple the paper vacum tube it to a trash burn barrel . (need i say more?)

    This is the worst changes kixeye or "brokeye" or "glitcheye" has made to date. Because of your changes I now have to travel up to 30 minutes just to find a base that I can hit. I don't have the time for that and I won't hit bases in my sector due to alliances with other players. Even if I were to hit in sector there are only a hand full of bases I could hit due to these new changes. I can't believe that you expect players to keep putting up with all your crap. It's bad enough to continuously have negative experiences playing. I get SOS screens all the time which costs me entire fleets when engaged in battle. I am tired of it. You're about to lose half of your players due to this crap. Change it or I'm gone...as are thousands of others.

    Well ****, it actually did go viral. >.< On a serious note, changing the levels is awesome since it gives morale as opposed to perpetually having 30-50 million exp gaps. Changing sals to be more lethal is a con, the game should have a method of being viably free to play. It might also be nice to change the leveling setup so that former 29's don't get instantly victimized.

    Kixeye.. I am displeased with the new system, mid level players 27 now 35 is at the point to just start building the good stuff, have 1 drac hull thanks to 2 hours of sleep and hitting what typhoons I could get 22 - 7 since all the high level players with lvl 38 fleets took everything they could hit down to 7s also. Put a limit on those for the high level guys.. 25s, 28s, 31, 34s everywhere to be had. Just one of my gripes. Next if we are going to take more damage than we get from salvs now, how about giving me back the money I spent on this game. You have my paypal account, just deposit it back in and I will never play any of your games again. I have only spent around $100 or so, so it shouldn't be a big deal. So fix your screw ups or refund my cash.

    Thank you for your time and hope to see some fixes or some cash.

    Had a great time playing the game. I'm kind of ashamed that my Pay-pal account says I have spent a GRAND on this game but, I did have fun. I have tried to figure the new system, spent more money, tried new strategies. It just is NOT working for me. Bottom line here fellas: I'm done!

    I will check back every now and then to see if the game has reverted back to where it was Fun to play but, I'm done spending my money until it has been restored to fun times.

    OK I understand the need to add new things to the game but why take good things from the game cargo vessels 29 down to 1 hasn't changed OK that's good but what happened to 33s .adding 37 45 55 brings a new challenge for bigger players but what happens with the blue prints i needed 3 bps for siege missiles d 55 , 3 bps for siege cannon d35,2 bps for the siege mortar,and 7 bps for the siege rockets d. where do I get them now, the 33s salvages where giving them to me but now where are they. is there more bps in the new salvage vessels like blue prints for ship hulls or other weapons how can i complete what has already been started please can you respond to this in some way so i can carry on collecting bps at my player level at least bring the old 33s back and then you can keep the new salvage lvls in the game from gameover new lvl 50 which by the way i like keep new player lvl format as its good for a new aspect of the game many thanks for reading this if you have read it happy hunting ;-) respect

    For two months I have nearly begged for you to fix my game to a point can actually play. Two raids virtuall lost due to the glitches I have submitted tickets on. Now the new update has put the problem s right back where they were. Now, addtionally I can be continually wped out faster than I can collect resources. THANKs Incidently we notice the coiners do not have these same issues with their game play. Their games work without the glitches. Guess it is obvious that money talks to you guys.

    Ok,
    I'm a level 40 player (although i should be 37 as i was 28 before the update but never mind ¬.¬) and im ok with most of the new updates (the more difficult salvs, no more buddy bubbling and new levelling system).. however i was under the understanding that even after the new levelling system update the the '5 levels each way attack limit' would remain in practice.. which would have been great as pre-update at level 28 i was getting 'farmed' by hairy **** ****ers that dont attack people their own level (mini rant there). So was thinking that after the update (with the '5 level limit') i would get away from that as it work out that only people as high as level 30 (in pre-update numbers) would be able to attack me.. i can cope with that...but obviously im wrong. As it turns out it seems that 'Players level 40 and above can be attacked by ANYONE (everyone) level 40 and above also' .. meaning (as im sure you know) i can be attacked by a level 56 (level 33 pre-update terms) and higher... THIS. DOES. NOT. HELP!
    I fully understand making the game harder and more challenging but, in my opinion, by taking away the '5 way limit' you've made the game harder for those who were already experiencing difficult challenges (sed 'farming').. now i can be farmed by even higher levels (nightmares accomplished).. again, i appreciate most of these recent updates but some new features seem to be pure ...silly, and in all honestly, feels like targeting :/
    Its seems as if (metaphorically) you've decided to give more food... to the bigger fish ¬.¬
    I attempted to give the updates a shot but seeing as i got flattened by a level 56 just now... and seems it'll happen more often than not.. I dont likey.
    If you are going to change any of the recent features PLEASE bring back the '5 level limit each way'! If not it'll be difficult for me to bother playing anymore.
    I (and many others) would prefer to battle people within a 5 level each way limit :)

    Yeah you'd need a 'seance' to contact all the dead bases now littering the map. A couple fundamental flaws in your argument:

    Small change in that some high levels can hit you - Wrong I'd call it huge, as a 43 I can be hit by ANYONE from 37 upwards. How is it going to work when an 80+ plus hits?
    You cant hit bases all the time you need salv to build and research, if it's not worth getting due to repairs and refits people will stop playing (and a lot allready have).

    KIXEYE have made the game 'BATTER' on that I agree, but a deep fried **** is still a ****.

    Greetings Captains! We received lots of good feedback for the proposed new level system and attack ranges post. Again, the goal of updating the player level system is to provide a more accurate representation of each player's experience and power. It's great to see so many players giving constructive feedback on the game. We've taken your feedback into account and now have a new and updated system for attack rules in conjunction with the new player level system.

    Attack Distance Modification
    A lot of you were concerned over the number of attackable targets within your Level range. This is a valid concern and when we broke this down further we found that a related area of the game, attack distance, also played a key role in providing good targets. So we've decided to scrap the 850 max distance attack rule and replace it with a +/- 2 Sector rule. The 850 attack distance penalized players who were at the top or bottom edge of a Sector and also stopped a full Sector from participating in Sector wars. The new +/- 2 Sector attack rule means that all players in a Sector will be able to attack up to 2 Sectors up in either direction. This increases the number of valid targets and sets the stage for even larger Sector vs Sector wars.

    TL;DR:
    • The 850 max distance for attacking rule is being removed
    • A new +/- 2 Sector attack rule is being added

    Updated Attack Ranges
    Along with the new distance rules described above, we're updating the attack range rules to further increase the number of valid targets, especially for high level players. The +/- 5 Level range is remaining, but would no longer apply to players level 40 and above (currently level 29).

    Attack Range Summary (note all Levels are the new Levels):
    • Attack range remains at +/- 5 Levels up to Level 39.
    • Players Level 40 and above can be attacked by any player Level 40 and above.
    • Note, Levels 40-44 can still attack/be attacked by Levels 35-39 due to the +/- 5 rule still in effect for those lower Levels.
    • FYI, Current Level 29 will be Level 40 in the new system

      For clarification: Level 35-39 can still attack +5 levels, Level 40-44 can still attack -5 levels.
    Combining the new attack ranges above with the new Sector distance range we get the following number of estimated valid targets for these levels:
    • Level 10 has 1200 targets
    • Level 20 has 840 targets
    • Level 30 has 630 targets
    • Level 40 has 420 targets
    • Level 50 has 220 targets
    By uncapping the attack range at Level 40 we triple the number of targets for Level 50+ players from 220 to 640. (Please note: for those interested in the math, we did not use the full +/- 5 Sectors' worth of data here; just +/- 1.5 Sectors' worth to be conservative.)

    In all cases above Level 10, this represents an increase in the number of valid attackable targets over the existing Battle Pirates system.

    Player Level
    The proposed Level system for player Levels is unchanged from the last post. We feel that as long as there are sufficient opportunity for players to attack other players, the new Level system is correct. For reference here it is:

    Under Level 18 stays the same, then:

    19 => 20
    20 => 21
    21 => 23
    22 => 25
    23 => 26
    24 => 28
    25 => 31
    26 => 33
    27 => 35
    28 => 37
    29 => 40
    30 => 43
    31 => 45
    32 => 48
    33 => 51
    34 => 55
    35 => 59
    36 => 65
    37 => 71
    38 => 78
    39 => 87

    Our goal is always to improve your gaming experience, so we welcome all feedback, including criticism as long as it is constructive and respectful. Thanks.

    I was indifferent about the level changes. my gripe is with the salvs being changed so drastically. lose most of my fleet in getting a salvs open to have to use what res I do get to fix fleet. what a joke!

    Listen, for all the wise **** out there, if Kixeye really wanted to make the game competitive or skillfully applicable they can simply take away the -5 ( the whole minus ) rule. Then go prove your-selfs in fair or even challenging fights by fighting for real above your weight class.

    Sounds like a good idea to me, however as a 43 I think a 80+ might be pushing it. But removing the -5 is a very good idea.

    As it currently stands, there is little chance players (unless they are coiners or allready in the top ranks) will be able to get to the upper levels. I used to be a lvl 31 under the old system and could only be attacked by someome under lvl 36. I am not any more powerful at the new level of 48 than I was at 31. Except now I can be attacked by everyone above me in level, no matter how high they are. Were the coiners running out of enough low level targets? I realize the coiners are how your company makes money, but what will they cry about next? That they have to start attacking each other because there are fewer lower level players. Or is the goal to make everyone into a coiner? It was bad enough when I had small chance of fighting back. Now, I have no chance.

    I realize griefers are part of every game. Must you cater to them?

    I have quit playing, and have no intention of playing again. These changes have destroyed any hope of getting any higher in level, so what would be the point of continuing to play?

    There are plenty of games it is still possible to enjoy playing without having to pay for the privelege of getting smashed every time my bubble wears off.

    now i have thought about the new lvl structure it doesnt really bother me as a lvl 28 i could get hit by 33s and a 29 could get hit by 34s the only difference is now we can now get hit by 35s 36s etc but how many of them do you see? so in reality the only difference is the number of bases i can hit is reduced but i can still hit 5 below me until i become a lvl 44

    Level 43 m8, then it's open season -5 can hit you and anyone above that level.

    from lvl 40 anyone above can hit you

    Attack Range Summary (note all Levels are the new Levels):
    Attack range remains at +/- 5 Levels up to Level 39.
    Players Level 40 and above can be attacked by any player Level 40 and above.
    Note, Levels 40-44 can still attack/be attacked by Levels 35-39 due to the +/- 5 rule still in effect for those lower Levels.
    FYI, Current Level 29 will be Level 40 in the new system

    For clarification: Level 35-39 can still attack +5 levels, Level 40-44 can still attack -5 levels.
