    I am teaching base building,I currently am learning base hitting and I have 128 players in my sector who ask for hits to improve.
    I know at level 32..I am starting a bit late but I do know a lot about building bases and defense work..my maths is woefull..lol.Maybe always has been.Apart from befriending everyone in my Allies..lol.how can I help?
    my online time has cut down to to home duties and work..it is a pain to say the least.
    any realistic ideas..?
    Listener,teacher,trainer.:cool:.we never stop learning.:D

    Remember the little folk..how we all started and now we sit in our hard bases..and tend to forget just how hard it was..How scared we were..:rolleyes::confused:

    Much better then the last proposal. like the 2 sector , but not looking forward to the travel time.
    But I just have one thing to say u do this to stop us higher lvls from hitting lvl 27 and 28, but what good is that going to do them when they turn lvl 29 and lvl 30 and have never got to watch whats wrong with their base, and are getting farmed just as much as it they were lvl 27 and 28. we all made it threw it. I loved watching my base get smashed. I learned from it. I use to ask lvl 31+ players to hit my base so I knew what I needed to fix. If they can't handle being hit they are playing the wrong game.

    Maybe it was said before, but I'm not going through 10 pages to find out - I wish this was around 1.5/2 years ago. That 850 range really hindered a lot of operations that I use to do. Now with the +/-2 sectors, things should be fun once again.

    As for the new 'bracket' leveling; I agree that there are huge differences in levels, even within your own current level. I myself stopped playing BP for about 6 months sometime last year. With that break, I'm just about to hit level 31. If I stuck around and played BP during that 6 months, I might be one of the top levels in the game but I'm not. I guess what I am saying is that with the new 'bracket' leveling I would be at a huge disadvantage because I still lack the tech and ships to compete with players who are at the same level as me, let alone those who are above. But with everything new, only time and usage will tell if it works or not.

    Edit: Grammar correction.

    My problem with this is the current speed of out fleets it already takes me 20 min to get to a decent base to hit so now i can go 2 sectors over so whats that 1.5 hours thats going to be a real drag fellas :(

    why travel that far at all, hit in ya own sector save all travel time

    Am I right that under your proposed structure a current lvl 29 (new 40) can be attacked by a current 36 (new 65)? Seems out of whack, it's difficult enough for lvl 29 etc to defend against 33's and the like let alone opening up to higher levels. Thought your first proposed structure was sound.

    That's a different issue that we plan on addressing in the near future.

    Not to dwell on it, but keep the 5 hit 1hr rule and get rid of the 10 hit 2 day rule. You get more time by having someone hit you 10 times than you do having your base flattened @ 100%.

    As far as the new structure it does look a lot better than previous. Although I would be concerned at a level 29 to have a level 37 knocking on my door. Being a level 34 I sit pretty much in the middle of the "upper echelon" of the brackets. Would map speed be easier to increase or would a simple "Sector Jump" be better? A sector jump would allow you to start at the beginning of the next sector and then your boats would travel the rest of the way to the target under your normal fleet map speed.

    Really didn't like the new module but this new system is a step in the right direction. If you guys can somehow push out a second shipyard which is the smartest idea for the game, or cut build times then it's a safe bet there will be much more play time ;)

    Just a point to remember...

    All those lower level bases that complain about getting hit by higher ups. I hope they realize they are getting valuable lessons. With this effort to protect them... they are going to get murdered when they move up a bracket... I feel sorry for them... talk about a shock. It's the equivalent of taking a PeeWee Football player and moving them into the NFL. Can you say SMASHED?

    I am afraid if you don't like the crying they are doing now... your won't believe the level of crying that will come when that happens.

    Just IMHO

    And please remember the social aspects of BP is gone with the removal of FB group chat... it's killing your crews. When the crews start having players leave... Kixeye loses too.

    Thanks

    There is some great feedback coming in from you guys, kudos! Just keep in mind that we need to stay on topic and try to get into too much back-and-forth conversation. You want for the devs to easily be able to skim through here to read your comments. Thanks.

    i like this idea very good glad you are listening a bit but plz listen here we need somewhere to make ship's and refit others and have it where you can upgrade and build at the same time one of each.

    if we gonna have more sectors sort the map speed out plz very slow when it can be 20 mins to get to someone in own sector

    Thats the point, under the new level system you wont have enough targets to hit in your own sector so kixeye are looking at increasing the travel distance for you to have a wider option for finding people your level to attack. Map speed will be a factor now having a overall increase to map speed would make this change perfect

    EDIT: Guys please stay on topic. This thread is about the levelling system, Kixeye know we want other things but right now lets just focus on what the thread is about. I don't want to see this one closed aswell since people want to start complaining about wanting other improvements

    I like what you have proposed.

    I do think that the travel time will still limit my base hitting ability due to time constraints when I play..

    So if I remember correctly, Being 33 now means I will be 51, correct?.....BUT on the bottom of my tier, so basically I'm stuck again. So I can only hit levels 51-55, I think with the point system spread...It will be that much harder for me to hit bases. IMO, it like a Level 25 going against a level 30 all over again.

    keep up the good work guys.

    edit: if we can travel further can you help us out with travel times it currently takes me 20/30 mins to travel to the next sector?

    First off, yes I do think the New (Part 2) concept is much better than the first. I really do like the idea of the +/-2 sector range.... very cool.

    Give some consideration to faster map speeds overall and I think you will have a winner on your hands there. I also do like the over 40+ free for all... very good.

    +1 SWAG and Kixeye on this.

    One question, and maybe this has been asked in this thread already however, can kixeye scale the world map speed from the 850 distance to an approriate amount equal to the 2 sector limit now?

    Actually, you may need to re-read the first post. Once you get to level 40+, it is a free for all. A 40 can attack or be attacked by anyone 40 or higher.

    That means your in your level bracket, attacking anything lower means your to powerful for them but being at the bottom of this bracket is nothing. With the current levels im level 32 I'll attack level 37's all day long if there were any around me.
    Think about it what advantage does a high level then yourself have over you?
    Both of you have all buildings maxed
    Both have all research complete
    The difference in levels from around 31+ is that the higher levels have spent more time on the game, looted more resources and refitted more ships other then that your exactly the same

    This is much better, and will still give the mid range players the odd scare along the way to make them improve. Thanks for listening to our concerns.

    Maybe to help with travel time you could introduce proper staging areas in other sectors that can be taken and defended to allow fleets to be sent for attacks later on?
    Could add a whole new dimension to the game....

    lol now that would be rather interesting would be nice to have some type of "protected waters" where all ships inside the greenzone could not be attacked, but it wouldnt work because of abuse. people would just leave all their fleets in there all the time so if their dock gets hit they will not have to worry about it because all there fleets are out and safe

    One other question, you are migrating bases to the new system and I want to get some clarification on how levels will migrate. Hypothetically, if you have 2 34s....one just turned 34 and one is 3/4 of the way through this level...will they migrate to like a 55 and maybe a 58? or both as 55s?

    Greetings Captains! We received lots of good feedback for the proposed new level system and attack ranges post. Again, the goal of updating the player level system is to provide a more accurate representation of each player's experience and power. It's great to see so many players giving constructive feedback on the game. We've taken your feedback into account and now have a new and updated system for attack rules in conjunction with the new player level system.

    Attack Distance Modification
    A lot of you were concerned over the number of attackable targets within your Level range. This is a valid concern and when we broke this down further we found that a related area of the game, attack distance, also played a key role in providing good targets. So we've decided to scrap the 850 max distance attack rule and replace it with a +/- 2 Sector rule. The 850 attack distance penalized players who were at the top or bottom edge of a Sector and also stopped a full Sector from participating in Sector wars. The new +/- 2 Sector attack rule means that all players in a Sector will be able to attack up to 2 Sectors up in either direction. This increases the number of valid targets and sets the stage for even larger Sector vs Sector wars.

    TL;DR:
    • The 850 max distance for attacking rule is being removed
    • A new +/- 2 Sector attack rule is being added

    Updated Attack Ranges
    Along with the new distance rules described above, we're updating the attack range rules to further increase the number of valid targets, especially for high level players. The +/- 5 Level range is remaining, but would no longer apply to players level 40 and above (currently level 29).

    Attack Range Summary (note all Levels are the new Levels):
    • Attack range remains at +/- 5 Levels up to Level 39.
    • Players Level 40 and above can be attacked by any player Level 40 and above.
    • Note, Levels 40-44 can still attack/be attacked by Levels 35-39 due to the +/- 5 rule still in effect for those lower Levels.
    • FYI, Current Level 29 will be Level 40 in the new system

      For clarification: Level 35-39 can still attack +5 levels, Level 40-44 can still attack -5 levels.
    Combining the new attack ranges above with the new Sector distance range we get the following number of estimated valid targets for these levels:
    • Level 10 has 1200 targets
    • Level 20 has 840 targets
    • Level 30 has 630 targets
    • Level 40 has 420 targets
    • Level 50 has 220 targets
    By uncapping the attack range at Level 40 we triple the number of targets for Level 50+ players from 220 to 640. (Please note: for those interested in the math, we did not use the full +/- 5 Sectors' worth of data here; just +/- 1.5 Sectors' worth to be conservative.)

    In all cases above Level 10, this represents an increase in the number of valid attackable targets over the existing Battle Pirates system.

    Player Level
    The proposed Level system for player Levels is unchanged from the last post. We feel that as long as there are sufficient opportunity for players to attack other players, the new Level system is correct. For reference here it is:

    Under Level 18 stays the same, then:

    19 => 20
    20 => 21
    21 => 23
    22 => 25
    23 => 26
    24 => 28
    25 => 31
    26 => 33
    27 => 35
    28 => 37
    29 => 40
    30 => 43
    31 => 45
    32 => 48
    33 => 51
    34 => 55
    35 => 59
    36 => 65
    37 => 71
    38 => 78
    39 => 87

    Our goal is always to improve your gaming experience, so we welcome all feedback, including criticism as long as it is constructive and respectful. Thanks.

    I can live with the attack rules they sound much better, I do agree with dude about the travel time tho to two sectors away. Thanks

    I guess now I as a low lvl 30 will live in a bubble for the next few months. I guess Kixeye assumes that lvl 29 and 30 and 31 have the same technology as the lvl 34's and 35's and 36's. We all know that casual base hitters like to hit the lowest lvl base they can hit (unless its personal) to get the resources as their is the least damage.

    Please keep the same lvl structure, and give low level the same chance to get hit. Dont scrafice 29's and 30's or give us a another upgrade worker so we can upgrade faster as new labs keep coming and the old labs never get finished.
    I do like the new sector distance though

    The reason I am asking is it still appears to be greatly reduced.
