Well, my alliance, Legend, is in sector 33, but I honestly am not going to try "selling it" to you, just because we are currently really trying to get things up and running and believe me, there are MUCH better organized alliances out there. My group only has about 55 members so far. It is a lot of hard work, creating a chain of command, documents for a group, and even the seemingly simple task of getting people more involved in the group etc.
In Legend, I am a "Communications Officer" so really just a glorified list maker and note taker. I have created many documents lately just to try to get a good format going. How to report an attack, etc. Documents that can be edited by anyone in the group too. Having a member directory seems crucial too so people have a list they can refer to quickly in order to find members who might be able to assist them. Our group has also employed the use of picbadges (as many others have started doing in order to better try and identify friends on the new world map visually). It is a huge obstacle really that even your friends are considered "an enemy base" and have that red ring around them.
A good alliance will provide SUPPORT if you were to ever need it. You mentioned the "lone wolf" aspect and unfortunately, I feel that whole concept will die and very soon. And that IS sad to me as well, that you, as a higher level player, feels that he cannot CHOOSE to play the game all on his own. If you attack a base and that person is part of an alliance (most people probably will be in the future) you will then have to deal with others attacking you too probably. Something DOES indeed feel wrong about that to me. I don't see one on one play as even being very possible in the future.
I have been having a lot of fun lately in my group though, trying to coordinate attacks with other members or helping them to reclaim a deposit that was taken from them. It adds a whole new sense of "neighbor helping neighbor" I guess.

Thank you for replying, Sueki. You obviously understand the importance of advertising unlike others who clearly can't be bothered replying to a 'lone wolf'.
I like your honesty and your approach to the new challenges that now face us. I have sent you a PM.
This revamped War Commander is like the zombie apocalypse. The tide of unthinking flesh-eaters threatens to consume us all unless we get smart and act quickly!
Well, I was not really advertising for my group as much as "sympathizing" with a lone wolf lol I will check my messages here in just a minute or two.
But, honestly, if I were you, I would just give a few of the alliances the time to respond to you. You obviously sound like you would have a lot to bring to the table too. Loyalty AND a good fighter? That is probably the best combination there is lol "Shop around" as I like to tell people
I would not want to make any snap decisions, move to another sector, etc (you would have to consider losing the deposits you have already claimed and all that). I don't even know what sector you are in currently, but it might be a good idea to just watch what happens around you for at least a little while? If you have existing friends in your sector, who are in a good alliance and they can "sell it to you," then maybe that will make a future decision easier for you too?

I'm a lone wolf with a healthy distrust of alliances but I'm intelligent enough to see that joining one may be a necessary evil. If you win me over I'll prove a valuable asset to you. I'm loyal and I fight hard.
Now it's over to you.
I want to know how alliances work. I want to know how the leadership structure is arranged. How are reports and orders given? Who keeps the records? Who makes the rules? Who decides who lives and who dies? What is your ethos? What are your goals? What are your tactics? What are your numbers and your strengths? Above all, what marks you out as different from all the others and why should I join your alliance?
You want me? Sell it to me![/QUOTE
I know what you mean, I was also against alliances but thought "do or die" really. I'm in sector 179, joined the Night walkers alliance. Message Tom Borland if you are interested in joining us, we are not big, but we are clever.
