90% of the frequent Base Attackers use the CHEAT/EXPLOIT to escape getting hit once the base attack ends.
Most other games use code to disable the game once a 2nd window/tab is open for that game.
Kixeye fails to have this code, making it easy for players to exploit.
So even if Kixeye restores the attack button, in most cases its useless because of Kixeye failure to have anti-cheat code.
You don't have to have 2 windows open. Just exit the last round fired hits the water. I never use 2 browsers, my little old 1.8g single core, laptop struggles as it is to run 1 instance of BP's......
The hardest ones to exit first are the direct fire weapons especially if you're close range. Ya gotta click map and leave might quick to miss the friggin summary popup.
It's still possible to ambush players, you just have to be really quick.
Swag that might work from Kixeye HQ where you have little to no lag. But in the real world the attacker's screen always updates first and ours is a split second behind in the best of circumstances add lag in and that fleet is on the way home before the bubble appears. Tell your testers to test in real world situations.
LIE of the DECADE!
“It’s easy for others to lose their focus on quality,” That’s where we are laser-focused.”
“If users are more engaged, they naturally spend more money.”
“We don’t throw the ecosystem out of whack. A free player who spends a lot of time in the game has as much chance as a whale who spends a lot of money.”
But you all missed the other part of the equation...the base defend fleets have made the bases a **** sight harder to hit now. so does it really matter that you can't lock on to a fleet thats almost certainly just been made mincemeat out of trying to get into the base ? Even people with Dread fleets are struggling to get into bases that they would have 100% before..thats if they can get in at all, as if the right ships are used for defend then the bases are almost impossible to hit.
The updates havent killed going to defend a players base or even stopped Ninjas, theyve just made it all much harder to do...thus requiring some skill to play
No I didn't miss it.
I'm not a big base hitter... But I am a very decent FvF pirate.
Swag you have mentioned the fairness of jumping a base fleet (BF) with a fleet vs fleet (FVF) fleet. Explain to us how it is fair that the miners and guards are left virtually defenseless in autopilot mode against an attacker? The new changes have made it so that we can not stop these guard/miner clearing operations.
Without the ability to "ninja" as you call it there is no way to stop someone from killing all of the autopilot guards/miners. Typically the attacker is using a FVF fleet such as wolves or subs to do this so there is no issue of fairness with jumping that attacker with your own FVF fleet. All we are asking for is to let him/her fight someone who is on line and can fight back. You have talked about the fairness of jumping a base hitter coming out of a base but where is the fairness to the base guards or miners that are away from the keyboard?
I prefer that you bring back the "ninja" method and if you feel the need to create a post teaching people how to minimize the chance of getting caught because having the ability to defend a base or fleet that is not your own is a half measure. With the lag that is often in the game you rarely see a fleet coming in to attack a base and it is only after they are engaged and the base or fleet is red that you notice the attack and by then it is too late to do anything about it. Imagine that you see a minefield being cleared by some attacker. How will you possibly get into position to defend a miner before the attack begins? If you do manage to defend a fleet before hand the attacker just moves across the minefield and hits a different fleet. Due to this last update you can't catch him coming out of the fight to end his skill-less slaughter of autopilot fleets.
There are perfectly good ways of minimizing your risk of being "ninja'd" coming out of a base especially now that you can go back to the map without retreating. Please reconsider this change and at least put the Attack Fleet option back in until you come up with a better way of dealing with the minor issue of sneaky ninja's whacking base fleets.
I've been reading over the past 30 pages and it seems that to me that the underlying quibble is not so much that the ability to ninja is gone but more about having the ability to defend the base of an ally. So what if there was just a different method for assisting a friend who's base is under attack? What would your suggestion be?

All KE did was put in place a formal change (no attack button for 'ninja' on base attackers) that presumably has very little impact on server and isp load on their end, and eliminates the need for 100,000s of players (and yes, everyone was beginning to learn about the 'reload' tactic) to tax KE's resources by 'reload' or 2nd UI 'stunts' that guaranteed the same thing.
...
You think any of this constant "reloading" might have anything to do with the lag - post update. Seems like there is a new update, a new Flash version, (and a reload exploit) and suddenly people refresh all the time and there is a lot of lag. I don't think it is the spectator mode as others have suggested, I see laq whether or not there is spectator mode in action. Allow fleet intercept and you will remove one of the motivations to constantly reload to avoid battles.

Seems to me the lag is directly tied to the spectators. More viewing the higher chance I'll experience lag. Also seems as tho the lag has only been an issue since the update? Reloading was well known prior to the update so seems highly unlikely the recent lag issue would be due to the reloading issue Imho

New Flash, though, too, if I'm remembering correctly - so who knows.

Or the player involved has to be ketchup slow.
Sorry guys, with all the updates, good score, for removing the attack... 0 out of 10, tried to catch people coming out of bases, so far no luck, but i did look stupid as the attacker circled the base then hit it again. All i could do is view.
we all hit bases taking the ninja chance, still hit bases tho. now you have lamed the game with this crap. mind you i can now get into bases knowing fully that there is nobody can stop me, but people can watch me give them the finger as i leave.
So really.. good idea, bad idea.... Nope, even though i can now do anything, i still think it sucks i cant help friends.
Now you can luxuriate in a nice jail cell, but if your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet: I will end you.
i have not played this game since this new update......everything eles you have done is cool as far as the new stuff for the subs its just this no attack fleet button it sux people say stop crying its got nothing to do with crying........what is the point in trying to help your friends out when they get attacked now you cant catch the fleet.
You just made it a lot better to smash a base open and get away with there res lmao you dont even have to spend money on the game now to fix your fleets...how can this be working to your favour.

The tactic is now gonna be ... to try and hit that base before the invader does. So that he sits at that base long enough for someone to get the attack.
so... watching base attack in 1 window, waiting on it to end so I can try to click the attack button in the other. A full 4 seconds pass from the time the attack ends, to when the attack fleet option pops up. I clicked quick, but by the time I'm hitting attack fleet, they're moving away.
Tell me what those of you 'it takes more skill to catch them now' are doing to make that attack fleet button come up quicker.
so how do you propose we have alliance wars with no attack button for bases? its gonna be a team event, so to say. how is a team supposed to help each other without an attack button? it was hard to catch a person coming out of the base before, now its impossible.
i say if its so easy and takes no skill. prove it. lets see some videos.

LOL why? So they then say you lose your fleet if you don't take so much of a percentage from the base when you hit it? They don't want FVF...the sooner people figure that out the better...

I haven't heard about them killing a fleet automatically if no damage is done. Wonder if that means... if damage is done they'll repair all ships on exit.
Why don't hey want fleet to fleet? That doesn't sound like it would make the game fun.
Except now not only have you taken away the attack button but you have also made it where they can MAP out of a battle and be ready to move anyways
sweetheart, u could do that BEFORE they changed it:) I know, i did it:)
Disclaimer: Do not point drone towards face, do not look drones in the eyes, do not wear red while near drones. Drones may explode randomly before or after deployment.

I have to be careful before SWAG accuses me of making things up that haven't been done....My point is that, since SWAG thinks that people using the Attack Button as they see fit is wrong because he doesn't see fit...he will likely stop the new "hit the base before they do" by punishing those performing these acts..instead of allowing their game to evolve as it did (who give a flying f*ck how people used the damned button) they are nazi izing the game and telling you what you will use each button for...so it seems logical they will punish this act to maintain this POS game as a base hitting only game.
I was considering trying out War Commander, but if this latest patch is any indication of how KIXEYE will be running (and ruining) games, I think i'll pass on the idea.
Im still stunned KIXEYE doesnt seem to understand how their own game is played. lol?
You know I thought about that Pix and I think I know the answer...these guys are no different from those that play the game...nobody in this game has ever been defeated...people coin, cheat or got more damage than their yield...so I believe swag and company will be stubborn "to the grave"...and let the game die before they will change the option back...it is the personality of those who play games like these.

I think a certain Kixeye manager got nijaed one too many times.
And just for the record Balanced actually means ; A state of equilibrium or parity characterized by cancellation of all forces by equal opposing forces.
It's not that I don't think kixeye are not on the same page it's just that the players are reading Sun Tzu Art of war and kixeye are reading Noddies big book of war.

So, we can realistically expect an end to dock nuking soon too? please say yes, as this is also a case of no can defend. when a gb can appear in your base and drop a bunker buster on your dock, taking you out of play for an hour or more and you can do exactly nothing to stop it... nuff said?
You know, for the first time, I have to say thank you to someone in here.
That's an excellent idea. I will get 5 of my buds, all with large bunker busters and take out the dock, all your researches along with your ship build while we are at it...
Thank you!
Oh, you guys don't like that idea? Then stay and fight.
With the new update we introduced Spectator Mode. The new mode replaced the Attack button that was visible when a player clicked on a fleet that was attacking a base. This method was being used to ambush, or ninja, a fleet immediately after it attacked a base.
This method of hovering over the attack button while a player is attacking a base has been removed because it requires zero skill. A player that has finished attacking a base has to wait for the world map to load and close out the battle report screen, while a player attempting to ninja only had to click once to attack. There was no defense against it and required no skill to accomplish.
Players are still welcome to attempt to ambush a player after a base attack, but now the player that was attacking the base will have a fighting chance to escape. In fact we even encourage players to try to ambush other players to see how wicked fast you can be and show off your skillz.
ok so now a base fleet can jump from base to base and not get hit .. i watched a HH base fleet with missiles lvl 30 player go from 1 base to another just taking out docks if he could reach them he was not out for res he was just doing that thing Swag calls skill ..... Swag needs to put the crack pipe down .. it was a good game now it is not even a game so-long KIXEYE i'm moving on along with my coins
Well
i just watched the new creation of player style following this wonderful update
Saw several battles
All they did was go in and hit any reserach / builds and few harvestors
Obvious they werent the least bit interested in doing anything else.
Tried a total of 6 times to lock onto them - not a chance !!
Well Done Kikeye - created a whole new style - i reckon we call these players "the **** brigade"
A base gets attacked... we all rush in there to help... but for what? u cant lock on to the attacking fleet anymore. I am seeing ppl trying to help there friends, but they cant. not anymore. prob a lack of skill? It think it took skill to escape a base when u hit it. it took skill to lock on a fleet that hit a base. When i was attaking a base i always wondered what would happen in those 5 minutes when i was in a base. would someone try to ninja me? And if they did, that was fun. the defending fleet in a base makes bp more fun. i can build siege missles/mortars now. thought this was the fleet that would be the endgame fleet. i like the adding of base defender fleet. It makes it a new challenge. But whats defending the bases now is dreads and ff... u should have made the defending fleet with weight a limit..how do u get through a base that is the same as your fleet and another 14 turrets? I really do welcome my new 5 turrets on the water. but when the anti flaks get out i prob will make it a fleet of mostly anti mortar and anti flak. used to think what will be there outside the bases i am attacking? Now its just ships that cant hit me anymore. Also wondering if the 'no skill' answer is real.... Maybe its harder to say we have only one button for this and made the choice to make it view battle... Also I am seeing no fleet battles anymore in the sectors, unless its drac slavages. And with sfb3 and subs these salvages are not a challenge anymore. Perhaps u should use the dracshavetorpedoesinsalvages! now. When I started it took me a day to get to my quota for a upgrade or research. now its done in less then an hour. I dont know where u get your feedback form. is it from real players?
The major draw and fun of this game to me is that it WAS a REAL TIME strategy game. KIXEYE has now managed to take the REAL TIME out of the game and made it just like all the other online games - collect resources, start building, logout, wait, log back in see if done building, collect more resources, build, etc, etc. - BORING!!! Anyone can now go attack a base and return without any fear of being caught. Why even have the game real time now when all you can really do is trade base attacks back and forth when your base finally gets repaired because you can't engage the REAL TIME enemy? More players will now live under perpetual bubbles because they know when they are not online, the other REAL TIME players can do nothing besides sit back and watch your base being crushed in 'View Battle'. Well, at least that is in laggy REAL TIME. Notice a trend here?
Another fun factor of the game was that it was social, you could interact and converse with others in your sector and make friends even if you were just starting out by giving them a helping hand by helping defend your sector. Now there is no reason to help bigger lvl neighbors when their base is getting crushed because you can't. Anyone else noticed more players just farming away on salvs now while 2 of their neighbors bases are glowing red? Telling them 'OMW' and showing up to help made COMMS and interaction with other players a necessity in the game. It made other players, especially higher level players appreciate the lower levels and help them out as well. Higher levels like 32's are now just going to crush 27's because they no longer have to fear the higher level friends of the 27. And any mid level player knows that there are a grueling WEEKS and even MONTHS of WAIT time between the available fleets, weapons, and base protections between a level 27 and a 32. Many mid levels will now give up on the game after their bases are crushed time after time, unable to build their base or fleets because all their resources are farmed, unable to save the millions needed for HW4's, DU4 walls, etc. It was also always cool to see the Aussie sector mates say g'morning as the US players were just logging off for bed. It gave the game 'REAL TIME' draw and feeling even while offline for the night because they would be watching out for the rest of us. Now, we know they really can't.
There is also the issue of those wimpy miner ninjas, you know the ones who go attack fleets sitting on the valuable zynth and other mines that live under constant friendly or purchased bubbles. Previously sector defenders could get some satisfaction of sending one of those fleets home empty handed while robbing a friend or alliance member who was offline at the time. No reason to bother now.
Sure there is maybe a 2 millisecond time frame to click on an attacking fleet and then press 'attack' after staring at the screen for several minutes when the glowing red stops, but really?? The attacker always has the upper hand. If we wanted to play a 'test your reflexes game' we wouldn't be playing what is supposed to be a REAL TIME STRATEGY GAME!
Hopefully KIXEYE adds this feature back or else all they will have left is a few 30+ lvl players left trying to find any unabandoned, uncrushed, unraided lvl 25+ base to attack.
I've been reading over the past 30 pages and it seems that to me that the underlying quibble is not so much that the ability to ninja is gone but more about having the ability to defend the base of an ally. Add an a alliance system, that allows members fleets within the alliance to defend bases. This can be done by adding a defend/guard button when selecting allied bases.
A long long time ago I started BP on 5/11 in Sector 364 !
I think some of you guys missed my post back on page 30, so here it is again ^
1. Put the attack button back
2. Use the Merc flt as base defender
3. Limit the level of fleet to be used in attacking a base to what the base being attack can actually handle.
