Rich thanx for actually reading this how about the next raid have the event over lets say 72 hours but the player can only play say 36 hours and you have a count down timer on it when you run out of time then your finished for the raid and to stop people bombing docks or hitting fleets that are still in the event put something in the program that stops this that way everybody still can have a chance make the bases and fleets a glowing colour while there event is still active so as then people know they will not be able to hit them this will also stop resources sharing
Ok, consider this - an event that lasts 24 hours. Lets assume everyone sleeps 8 hours, and lump into that time all other breaks. So that leaves 16 hours to play the game. For purposes of this example, we will also assume you goto bed at midnight, and are up at 8am. All times are your timezone:
Event starts at Midnight, sleep takes 8 hours then you have 16 to play.
Event starts at 4am, sleep takes 4 hours, playing time 16 hours, sleep takes 4 hours
Event starts at 8am, playing time 16 hours, sleep takes 8 hours
Event starts at Noon, playing time 12 hours, sleep takes 8 hours, playing time 4 hours
Event starts at 4pm, playing time 8 hours, sleep takes 8 hours, playing time 8 hours
etc etc
So it shouldn't matter what time it starts, so long as it lasts a full 24 hours, you all have the same amount of time to play.
Ok lets take this example and evalute it ^^ lol
your right no matter what time zone your in it doesnt matter what matters is that it started saterday evening. so lets break it down.
event start saterday 7 pm (in my case)
saterday playing until midnight +5h
sleeping -8h
sunday playing from 8am till 9pm +13
sleeping -8h
monday morning 5am get up goto work. best case scenario home at 5pm -12h
monday playing from 5pm till 9pm +4
sleeping -8h
thuesday morning 5am get up goto work. best case scenario home at 5pm -12h
thuesday play from 5pm till end of event thuesday 7pm +2h
so lets count
game time 5+13+4+2=24
sleep + work 8+8+12+8+12=48
note : not taking in considertion things you do besides work and sleep like eating, washing, etc, etc...
so who benefits? ppl that are unemployed, housemothers and fathers, etc, etc they can play whenever they want unlike most ppl (my thought nothing against ppl that are unemployed or somethiny else)
but then again who really cares lol just showing how different a weekendday is compared to a weekday for the majority off people.
Counting down to August 28 2012 + 3 Days Headstart.
My days at FB games are counted. Soon I will move on to the game I like as its entering its final stages of development and beta testing.
Maybe if some FB games didnt hide behind the beta status my love for these games would still be here.
This sig is used on all fb game forums I have been active on, nothing personal.
I'm not complaining, but I have to say it was a bit of a bummer the event started on a Sunday (Austrailian time). The other raid events at least gave us Aussies 2 solid days of playtime. Having said that, i'm throwing a sickie at work tomorrow so I can at least get the third quota prize...

starting on a Saturday did make this slightly different, and lasting 4 days does take people into the working week. but any event lasting 4 days is going to have to encompass at least some of that.
I don't know if there are plans to us Saturday as the start day in the future, but I will be making people aware that it isn't necessarily the best day to start things.

If it were a 24 hour raid, few of the winners would sleep for even one hour.
Extra effort gets extra reward. I didn't go for this raid, but if i was I would have taken vacation days to keep playing (if needed). I won the last raid and was prepared to take a vacation day if needed. What I hear are a lot of people who are unwilling to put in the required level of effort (time and/or $$) to win, but they still expect to be in theu hunt. Doesn't mater where you are, we all still need sleep and have the same duration.

That's all we're asking. A Friday or even a Thursday start gives the entire globe a full weekend to play.
A 10am PST Saturday start means everyone from +7 GMT through to +12 GMT lose a full weekend day/night and only really have 1 full day. Not everyone gets to play at work unless they convince their bosses to sign up!

lol i love the example but be realistic... some of us can't do that, i for example have uni and my dad has an internet block on the internet from 11pm onwards to force me to go to bed on time :P

why not? you got a hangover from friday night? lol, if you americans started it on friday (your time) it would be saturday for us, then we ALL get the whole weekend and 2 week days... however starting on saturday your time is a pain because while you guys get 2 weekend days we get 1....

well if you will live in these awkward times zones...
I think that a few different start days will be tested to see which brings the best result (and no not just money). But like I said, I will be passing that feedback on specifically, as soon as I hear about the next event.

Thanks for that Rich. I am of the same opinion as the people who didn't like the start time of this raid. I believe that Friday evening Kixeye time would be a good time to start a raid as most people already consider it as part of the weekend. However, Kixeye staff may not like that so much.
Well done kixeye for starting the Base Raid when you did it started at 4.30 am on Sunday where i live since i have a life and a job i wont be playing it for 2 days while im at work so stand no chance of winning the hull so i will NOT be putting any credits in the game for this.
How about you really consider everybody around the world who plays this game instead of just Americans and next time have sectors available for different starting times you can relocate two according to where you live so as we all can have a good shot at winning over the weekend as well.
To all those who say this isnt fair to us well your quite welcome to relocate to those sectors if you wish but then if you have a life and a job you will have to put up with it being on during your work time like we do now

The office is in America. If you don't like it you could play the French version of BP where they give up before they start..:)

Piss Me Off and I will shove a lightening bolt up your arse!
Ya know, I'm off on Fridays and Saturdays. Woulda worked perfect for me to have the raid start about 11 pm Eastern Time in the US on Thursday night. But it didn't. It started on Saturday afternoon. Oops, I work on Sunday and monday. 8 hour shifts. Wow, I'm in 3rd bearin' down on 2nd and 1st ain't that far away. So what, who cares. Workin' full time I can do it so can you.

The main issue I have with these events is the time of notice. I would love to be able to compete for the main prizes, but without more notice, I cant get the time off work to seriously compete. I would happily use some holiday hours, or even swap a couple of shifts about with a colleague, but less than a weeks notice is not enough, need at least a couple of weeks.
Battle Pirates is played all over the world. No matter what time we would start the event, it's going to be inconvenient for a few people.
Technically untrue. If you based your playing times on gmt then the level of incovenience would be spread across the board. Lets say a weekend event starting midday on a Friday and finishing midday on a Monday gmt. Australia would start on a Saturday morning and finish Monday night. America would start Friday morning and finish Monday morning.
If you did it this way every decent human being with a job would have 2 weekend days and a working day in which to get their **** done. By basing your time zones in that little colonial backwater you live in you are in effect screwing some people with only 1 and a half free days in which to play. GMT has been adopted as standard time exactly for this reason.

Yes because then if something happened (server crash/bugs) the game wouldn't get worked on until they got up that day. Please pull your head out of you arrogant ***.

Got to be kidding me The leader in my sector is from Europe. I'm a America in 4th spot and a 3x winner now. So don't see your point.
i have to agree, i am in australia so when kixeye starts saying that things are happening in a few days i have no idea when that is. still the point is, america is behind everyone else time wise, the worst time to base these events on because when they start on saturday its already sunday for the other half of the world. if you insist on starting in american time then start on friday, then it would be fairer.... p.s. swag please put this idea to your development team, its a terrible inconvenience to the majority of the world.... especially us australians
Id did used to start on Fridays, and everyone complained about it that worked weekends from arround the world, so they adjusted the game to a Thursday Friday game, then this was Saturday thru Tuesday, next will be Wensday threw Friday, then we will have a Tuesday threw Thursday, And everyone will ****, cause noone will get ****. It will just say event, and we will all get on here and complain and **** about the glitches, the quotas to high, the days they chose suck, and not even realise there is no prize quotas anymore (Oh **** just gave Kixeyes goals for the future.
Kixeye is an american company, privately held I'm assuming, not fighting a war, trying to make money like everyone else in the world. I'm sure they are not against any nationality or race of any kind as this sort of thing went out in the US a LONG time ago, and they do their best to provide a very good game for everyone. I think the biggest problem here is people's arrogance and their own ego. Thumbs up kixeye was a fun raid. Nice to see something different.
Aimed at Americans????? The raid is going during our work week so how is it aimed at americans?? funny stuff
have a good day

ROFL!!! It was a 3 day event. There was plenty of time to play no matter what time u get up and go to sleep. I know a guy that pulled an all nighter last night and ended up pulling ahead and winning the hull. No matter what time it was at wherever you are at, if u didn't win, then u didn't want it bad enough. Go away crybaby.

For example,
1. USA sector 1-166
2. Asia sector 167-332
3. European sector 333-500
