It's a game, no need to bring real life stuff into it.

if it is an on-going memorial, with toons of respect around it, it should be respected ..... but .... and no disrespect to the fallen ... if this is a base that has been there for a long time, and abandoned (not the exact word to describe it, but true) then if another player hits is I see no issue, we have had them in my sector, circled them with respect ... but months later .... most people see an empty base

I agree we had a memorial for a player who died a while back in my sector, both sides we're respectful about that area even if there were fights in other parts of the sector.

Why bring real life into a game? I get you make friends but to make it personal about a base then that is sad in my opinion. Why not have a fund raiser instead for the family of the person but outside of Kixeye. That way it would be more of a gesture than leaving toons round a base. I know this is tempting fate but if I was to get run over tomorrow and went to my maker then I would not give two hoots about my base but my family then yes that would matter to me. Then please donate, my bank account number is ............

It's actually not that easy to spot a memorial made around a base in WC as similarities can be found to a jail around a player base. How should a given player without prior knowledge about sector policies know that it's a memorial and not a jail?

Memorials are also a thing in VC and BP.  Being sniped in both games is not an uncommon occurrence.  However, they're PvP games, so by technicality, we have no right to complain about it.

in my sector we usually send a rep to other sectors that might invade and notify them about it
