Greetings, Captains. The 9.03 update is deploying Tuesday, January 15th at ~4:00 PM PDT. This update contains support for the January Forsaken Missions, VXP Battlegrounds, a balance patch to fix the live PvP issues reported by the community, and several campaign re-runs. Read the full details below!



The team will be doing more regular balance patches moving forward to ensure that all new content is as effective as intended, while ensuring that older content is correctly siloed to its tier and still effective for its originally intended purpose.

JANUARY BALANCE PATCH

In the past, launching submarines has been heavily restricted to avoid griefing. We believe we can relax some of these rules while still mitigating PvP griefing. The rules for submarines are changing in the following ways:

  • Formerly you could not launch subs if they were below 100% health, now you cannot launch subs if they are below 10% of their health

  • You cannot engage any targets if you have less than 10% health on your sub.


Several issues have been reported by the community in regards to older PvP hulls becoming overpowered when paired with more current tech, as well as PvE hulls being too powerful when on base defense. The following changes are going into effect to provide a more balanced experience:

Hope:

  • Bonus Rocket Range reduced from 35% to 12%

  • Bonus Explosive Damage reduced from 200% to 125%

Zoe's Vendetta:

  • Bonus Explosive Damage provided by the ship's aura has been reduced from 225% to 100%.

Rage and Reina's Rage:

  • The first Berserk Overload, triggering at 30,000 health lost, has had its Radioactive Damage Bonus removed.

  • The second Berserk Overload, triggering at 100,000 health lost, has had its Radioactive Damage Bonus removed, its Radioactive Reload Bonus removed, and its duration reduced from 15 seconds to 3 seconds.

Malice:

  • The Berserk Overload aura has been restricted to the following hulls: Malice, Spite, Fury, Ferox's Fury, Harlock's Revenge, Revenge, Zoe's Vendetta, Vendetta, Retribution, Zoe's Retribution.

Spite:

  • The Berserk Overload aura has been restricted to the following hulls: Malice, Spite, Fury, Ferox's Fury, Harlock's Revenge, Revenge, Zoe's Vendetta, Vendetta, Retribution, Zoe's Retribution.

Survivor:

  • The Special Ability aura that provides Ballistic Damage, Ballistic Reload, and Splash Damage Reduction has been restricted to the following hulls: Inquisitor, Incinterator, Survivor, Oppressor, Liberator.

Valiant:

  • The Special Ability aura has been restricted to the following hulls: Valiant, Vanquisher, Alpha Behemoth

Vanquisher:

  • The Special Ability aura has been restricted to the following hulls: Valiant, Vanquisher, Alpha Behemoth

Omni Behemoth:

  • The Special Ability aura has been restricted to the following hulls: Courage, Justice, Hope, Valiant, Vanquisher, Omni Behemoth, Alpha Behemoth, Harlock's Alpha Behemoth

Harlock's Alpha Behemoth:

  • The Special Ability aura has been restricted to the following hulls: Courage, Justice, Hope, Valiant, Vanquisher, Omni Behemoth, Alpha Behemoth, Harlock's Alpha Behemoth

Breacher Dreadnought/Arbalest II:

  • The Arbalest II weapon has gained a 75% evasion to countermeasures.

Sinful Scattergun:

This weapon was missed in the refactor, and has been updated accordingly.

  • Damage increased to 13,200
  • Penetrative Deflection reduced to 5,372
  • Explosive Deflection reduced to 5,372
  • Concussive Deflection reduced to 5,372


Defender Restriction:

  • Non Conqueror/Defender hulls can no longer be deployed as part of a Defense Fleet.

Tier 7 and Tier 8 PvP Ship Weapons:

The following weapons now ignore damage type defenses. This should have no effect on PvP, and mainly prevents certain PvE ships from abusing Conquerors on the open water:

  • Siege Cannon D35-V - Ballistic Defense Bypass

  • Havok Gatling Gun - Concussive Defense Bypass

  • Hex Scattergun - Corrosive Defense Bypass

  • 2X-Q Mortar - Explosive Defense Bypass

  • Siege Rockets L100-CT - Explosive Defense Bypass

  • Assault Mortar L84-X - Explosive Defense Bypass

  • Assault Rockets L93-CT - Explosive Defense Bypass

  • Siege Missile D55-X - Penetrative Defense Bypass

  • Achilles Missile D55-M - Penetrative Defense Bypass

  • Wildfire Thrower - Radioactive Defense Bypass

  • Arbalest II - Ballistic Defense Bypass

  • Raze II - Corrosive Defense Bypass

  • Abyssal Torpedoes - Concussive Defense Bypass

  • Piranha Scatter Gun IV - Concussive Defense Bypass


Per the original announcement, there will be a compensation package deployed to anyone who spent gold on building Malice, Survivor, Spite, Valiant, Omni Behemoth, Hope, Zoe’s Vendetta, Reina’s Rage, and Rage between the time the exploit emerged and when the post announcing that we were fixing it went live.

VXP BATTLEGROUNDS

Begins: Friday, January 18th @ 9:00AM PST
Ends: Sunday, January 20th @ 9:00AM PST

This special version of the VXP Weekend includes VXP bonuses, activity points, leaderboards, and a reward store! Full briefing is available Thursday, January 17th.


CONQUEROR’S GAMBLE CAMPAIGN

Begins: Wednesday, January 16th @ 12:00PM PST
Ends: Tuesday, January 22nd @ 12:00PM PST

Get caught up on Tier 7 PvP tech by trying your luck on a mystery Treasure Chest. The campaign is difficult, but has the possibility of giving out full blueprint sets with each chest opened.

  • [Expeditions] Invisible barrier in Titanium Expedition. In the Expedition card “Status: Unobtainable”, there was a section of the target that could not be traversed by a fleet.

  • [Campaign] Allied Boon Spectator Summary displayed incorrect outcome. The spectator summary was showing players had beaten the target even when they lost

  • [UI] Repair popup was continuously re-appearing for some players. The popup would continue to appear everytime players would enter their base even though their base had been repaired.


  • [Other] General bug fixes and performance improvements

    We just pushed a hotfix that reverted a change to the Cannon Mount II, which blocked it from being equipped alongside the Hyper-30.

    This was a change that accidentally slipped into 9.03, and is intended to release eventually, so we may re-implement it at some stage. For the time being, though, go forth with your high evade builds.
