Kixeye Math???

Can someone please explain Kixeye's math formula?  If my fang already had 71% concussive armor and I add another armor to it of 18% increase....how does it equate to a total of 76%?  In my math in school, 18% of 71% does NOT equal 5% - so where does the increase of only 5% to 76% come from?

    The math is based on armor, health, ect ect ect. Take a Zelos you give it the best pen resit you got everything is pen resit. Normal math would be 300% resit to pen damage but kixeye's math only gives 99%. They fail at normal math but there kixeye math = $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

    The best I can make out, although it's a user hostile and totally  a r s e  about face way of doing it, is this..... If you have 71% resistance, then 29% (100%-71%) will hit you. An 18% increase in resistance with make you resistant to 18% of the 29% that gets through, 18% of 29% = 5.22%, so now you have your original 71% plus the 5.22% = 76%.

    user hostile.. ? orly  :D Google "Diminishing returns in game design" this is a common practice and good game design. (how-can-i-come-up-with-a-simple-diminishing-return-equation third link, from gamedev.stackexchange gives good examples of how the math is done.)

    When adding resistances, you subtract your current resistance from one, and multiple that by the modifier of the item being added, and add it back to your original value.

    (1-0.71)*.18=0.052 -> 5.2%
    71% + 5.2% = 76.2%

    The next one would be:
    (1-.762)*.18 = 0.042 -> 4.2%
    76.2% + 4.2% = 80.4%

    It is done this way so that you cannot physically reach greater than 100% resistance.

    It is like that math problem where you keep walking halfway across a room. The first time you are at 50%. Walk half way of the remaining and you are at 75%. Again and you are at 87.5%. You will technically never reach the end of the room.
