OVERVIEW

Commanders, the Zombie Horde has returned, but with Kane being dead we have no idea who is behind them. Despite this lack of leadership, the Zombies are undeniably becoming a serious threat in the Sector and it's up to us to stop them.

Operation: Resurrection features a number of new gameplay mechanics, including:

  • Defensive wave changes

  • Single-Use Units (playable zombies!)

  • Zombie faction track missions

Let’s dive in!

NEW GAMEPLAY MECHANICS

Defensive Wave Changes

We no longer want players’ progress to be blocked by Defense Waves, so we have revamped them to now be BONUS MISSIONS! For all Base Defense missions, you no longer need to achieve Victory to progress in the Main Track. You will progress to the next mission whether you are Victorious or Defeated, but you will only receive the listed prize for a Victory.

All Defense Waves now award more XP than ever before, but must be completed in a single attempt. If you don’t complete the Wave, you don’t get the XP payout or the Thorium, but you still progress to the next Mission in the track.

In keeping with this, you have the option to SKIP the wave once it starts running.

Introducing Single-Use Units - Playable Zombies!

This is the first time in an event that you can earn and deploy Single-Use Units in the form of playable Zombies. These units can only be used in battle once and then they disappear from your inventory - but never fear! You can always unlock more.

How do I earn them? Some Zombies can be unlocked in the event store, while some are only available as prizes from completed missions.

How do they work? Single-use units do not take up any Storage space, but they do take up platoon capacity. They can be used in any ground platoon of any type except for Base Defense Platoons. Once you deploy a Single-Use Unit into battle, they will fight until they die or they finish the encounter, and then they will be gone. If you leave the battle and return, your Single-Use Units will be fighting if they have survived while your attention was elsewhere. If you End the battle, the Single-Use Units will be gone.

What happens if they survive the fight? Doesn’t matter. If they’ve been deployed, then at the end of the battle they’re still gone. They are zombies and have a tendency to rot, after all.

Are all zombies single-use? Yes, all Zombie Units are single-use and cannot equip any tech. However, there is Zombie-themed tech that can be equipped to non-Zombie units, which can be built and used just like regular tech. See our New Content section for details on this tech.

What are the benefits? Relying on Single-Use Units to win battles means fewer standard units take damage and require repair. If these units are used wisely, they will increase playtime and decrease downtime for repairs.

What happens to these units when the event is over? These units will stay in your account, and platoons with Single-Use Units can still roam the World Map. However, these Units are still Single-Use; once you deploy them into any battle, even battles outside of Operation: Resurrection, they are gone.

I think I’ve got it. But how do I know what units are Single-Use? Single-Use units have a bright red outline in your inventory, so you can tell them apart from your standard units.

Thanks, CM Chris - you sure know a lot! This section was written by a designer but yes, you’re welcome.

NOTE: There is a known issue with Main Track, Mission 19. A Victory condition will still show a "Defeated" popup. You will receive all XP and prizes for being successful, so ignore that "Defeated" popup.

UPDATE: Difficulty on Mission 15 in the Main Track has been significantly reduced! It's still challenging but shouldn't hold people up quite as much. Good luck!

UPDATE: We'll be doing a short downtime at 11:30AM PDT to fix an issue with the Serum bundle only giving out 3 instances instead of the intended 6. Shouldn't take long.

Any user who purchased this bundle already will have the instances they missed credited to their account automatically in the next day or so.
