-FORMAT- For unit ideas.

This is updated version of giopanipi’s format for unit ideas, so all the credits go to him




Hello my fellow War Commanders,

In an attempt to improve the unit ideas that people think of in this game, I have come up with a detailed format which people can copy and paste into their post, and basically fill in the blanks. Enjoy.

Some advice when posting the idea:

1. Say when you need to upgrade the Tech Center/ Academy to continue upgrading the unit.
2. Try and answer / Challenger all feedback given, and be nice, don't insult anyone.
3. Listen to the feedback, and make changes if a lot of people think it's OP/UP.

    The only thing I'd object to is "Flavor text (optional)". Seems to me when looking at other people's ideas for new units, the first thing I want to know is what's it for. It should be mandatory. Then we can look at the stats and see whether they actually do the job or not. The details can always be balanced later if we know what you're trying to achieve.

    (It might also be worth saying at the top that anything in < ... > is to be replaced by something relating to your new unit, not left as is like so many unfortunately do.)

    Agreed, in-game they don't, but for evaluating a proposed unit you need to know what the proposer thinks it's for. Perhaps I should have suggested a new line at the top of you template rather than highjacking that one, for example <What is this unit's niche and how does it fill that in ways that existing units don't?>. Then we can argue whether the details fulfil the need, or need adjusting, or whether the whole idea is unnecessary.

    we really need only a idea of new unit at first, like i have a idea about something to launch ground pods or drones or something similar like **** fire launch missiles but will be shoot down like ground units, another idea is unit with shield generator to protect self and other units in shield range against damage, shield work like hp and after some time without taking damage start charge to max capacity

    Is this a joke? So overpowered and would replace the custom elite razorback, let alone the elite hellfire, and dont get me started on what how much it would cost in the event store.

    My idea is simple... atleast I might think so... what would be the odds of having the option of saving your base set-ups. 

    For example... I like to set my base up differently for normal game play, Once a event comes I go for a different type of set-up. So with that said it would be nice to save the "Event Base Set-Up" as well as "Normal Game Play Set-Up" and swop it out that way rather than spending an hour or so moving all my walls and buildings and...

    It' just a thought,

    umm couple of questions isnt this to tough with to much range for a tank and how can it be a semi automatic cannon and have a slow rate of fire ****

    All stats of "Mothership" like a "Havoc", but it has more 30% health than "Havoc" and it can't attack, just deploy your drones when it fly near enemy base :)

    I May have not stated my question correctly.

    I know Rof is Rate of Fire. what i meant by defined is how Rof is measure say Rof is 10.
    10 per minute?
    is that 1*dps every 6 seconds. If i can i wish to have a formula as well as an expression.

    Cause frankly I don't know how anyone would make a valid or strong wishlist suggestion if no one knew nor was it stated on this pinned post.

    Here's a few thoughts to throw around:

    How about surface-to-air missile turrets, to level the playing field a bit against spectre. Limit to 2 per base.

    Also, maybe an extra long range (longer range than drone silo) Howitzer style big artillery cannon that reaches almost to the edge of the screen and does lots of damage...but is slow firing. Limit to 1 per base. Perhaps you could allow a defending player to aim the big gun and target a certain area for ground barrage, similar to Spectre targeting. Equally, a long range offensive artillery gun that out-ranges all current turrets but is susceptible to air attacks would be fun.

    What about reviving the War Room and using it as a spy satellite - as you upgrade it it would show you the range of your base defence platoon units, then it could show a rough outline of the turrets range in a rogue/depo/base you are attacking, then it could show you other players bases without you having to travel the map (like when you 'visit' friends bases), finally it could show you approximate locations of some mines (but with a big margin for error, say maybe a 1 in 4 chance it's correct).

    Passive outer defences - What about letting players dig trenches, place tank blockers (that cannot be destroyed) or build 'rough terrain' to slow attackers down, limited in number so as to only cover 25% to 50% of ground around the central base...if used in conjunction with good turret placement it would allow each base to have a very unique feel and force attacks into certain 'gullies' or 'kill box' situations. You could then add specialist Engineering units like mobile bridge builders or minefield clearers to counteract the outer 'passive' defences.

    Another thought is, perhaps let infantry 'dig in' and make temporary foxholes, digging would take a few seconds and once dug-in the units range and defensive health would increase. This could even lead to longer term 'sieges' of an opponents base with 'slow trickle' infamy loss/gain, unless defenders come out of the central base and destroy the dug in attackers.


    The new 'sci-fi' style units are fun but many players want some good old fashioned, realistic war machines and the ability to use smart tactics to outwit base defences and on the opposite hand also want the ability to wipe out half-witted attacks that simply rely on charging head-first at a base without using any skill.

Because it all happends underground the Mole can't kill any vehicles, infantry or aircraft. The Mole can't be hit by defense towers or base defenders, but is vulnerable against mines. to make it a bit more faire the Mole has to come in a certain distance (200) of a building before it can dig itself in and start its evel work. Until het goes undergroud it can get hit. A sign shows the attacker the position of his unit. He is big and slow has an unbelievable destruction force. The unit also can't go underneeth walls from lvl4 or higher, they'll have get destroyed by other units.>

    Dear War Commander, I would like to purpose the following unit:

    BARRAGE BALLOON.

    This unit was used during both world wars.  The purpose of the barrage balloon was to limit airspace to enemy aircraft in conjunction with anti aircraft units.  Aircraft flying near the balloon could be snared by the support wires or blowing the balloon up, could also damage aircraft. Barrage Balloon units were largely manned by female soldiers. 

    This could be an easy base defense limiting the balloons to a total of 4 or 6 dependent on the level of the air field.

    This would become an obstacle to aircraft and missiles, thereby increasing the need for skill in flying and deployment of aircraft.  A balloon if hit by the aircraft will kill it or in the case of a Titan or Spectre severally damage it.  The size of the balloon should be the same as that of a warhawke, so as to not take up so much game space.  The balloons could be used to hide flak tanks.

    Lower level barrage balloons would require only normal metal and oil for construction, but should be limited to the airfield level in use. Thorium being used at higher levels.  Destruction of a barrage balloon will have splash damage on the attacking aircraft, so attacker beware.  Running into a support cable such as the Spectre would bring it down.  Ground units can shoot down the barrage balloon and bring it down. A level of health will be needed depending on what health is given to the unit per say. 

    Well I leave the technical side to the boffins of Kixeye, I include a photo of balloons protecting a RAF airfield during the war.
